That's right! Iceland qualified for the 2018 World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Kosovo. In doing so, Ísland became the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup!

It was a dominant display by the Icelanders, who knew that a victory would seal qualification and top spot in the group. Gylfi Sigurðsson opened the scoring, with a scuffed finish after a determined run. Gylfi later turned provider, as his low cross was turned in by Jói Berg Guðmundsson. Kosovo offered some nervous moments for the home team, but the Icelanders stood their ground and did their jobs with pride.

The excitement all night was incredible, and the passionate celebrations after the final whistle were justified. Fireworks erupted, the now world famous viking chant was performed, and the partying went on until late in the night.

It's been a crazy 12 months for the Icelandic national team, and they seem to get better as they grow in confidence. Their fanbase stretches further than Iceland, with many tourists drawn to Iceland after their performance in the Euros last year.

It's going to be an absolute pleasure following Iceland in the World Cup next summer, something that this country is extremely excited for and proud of. The most exciting part is that everyone has this feeling that they're going to do well in Russia, such is the confidence in this hard working team.

Bring on the World Cup! Áfram Ísland!
