'The nacreous clouds' sounds like a cool band name, right? Well! Unfortunately it's not a band, but instead something cooler: rare colourful clouds.
According to the Icelandic met office, these special clouds will form over Iceland tomorrow. They are often seen during winter months at high altitudes. Nacreous clouds form in the stratosphere, at 70,000 feet or above — more than twice as high as commercial airliners fly.
The met office has also issued a yellow weather warning for Northern Iceland beginning this evening and heading into tomorrow. So please drive carefully as strong winds are predicted.
