Vehicle was OK. It was old and in pretty beat up condition. The front tires should not be in that vehicle as the drivers side was almost bald and the passenger side not much better. Hi nice you got over 85 km it would shake. I never really noticed due to the bad weather until the start of day 3 that was the problem. We had a short period of time to tour the island and I was not going to waste time trying to get a vehicle changes out when we were in the north east. I informed the rental peon when dropping by off and they made a very small concession in regards to waiving a $30 admin fee for missing the tunnel fee but otherwise was not really given any compensation for that part which was a fairly significant safety issue and slowed us down appt. Hi Runar, The interaction with the rental location personnel was pleasant. I think they’re spread thin because I had to wait a while and call to be picked up after landing into KEF. The vehicle has issues .. cracked windshield, steering veering to the left, wipers which worked erratically in the rain and a window which was completely inoperable. I was assured that the vehicle was safe to drive and was road worthy. However, given the issues I didn’t feel comfortable driving to destinations in my original plan and kept to good paved roads instead. The people at the rental location checked out each of the issues and promised to fix them all before the car is rented out again. Too bad my rental experience was ruined because of a vehicle riddled with issues. Regards,

They were not at the airport for the pickup, the car was not clean. Car did the job. Generally not enough information on the pricing of the insurance for the rental upon reservation. Liability of 3500 euro is too much (I then took extra). I also felt uncomfortable that every little scratch on the car was marked on the contract, but unable to check because the car was not clean. Lagoon thus missed a policy to identify the marks that were big enough to get marked. So overall, I would not rent again with Lagoon.

They treated us right and there was no unexpected taxes. But when we got stucked in a blizzard they didn't help us at all, we had to get out by ourselves.

I doubt I would use Lagoon again. The Sorento drove well but had a cracked video display. Lagoon gave a wifi for the car at noadditional cost, which we didn't use. The car had numerous scratches and a large scrape on the front fender. These things were all known at check out with the car. I believe this car should not be in the rental fleet. Numerous times a bell was sounding but we didn't know why. Perhaps if the video screen wasn't damaged we would have know. The windshield wipers had a mind if their own. During use, the wipers would go from intermittent to rapid speed even with little rain. Not sure if this is related to the electrical stuff with the video screen. Checkin and check out very slow since everything was had written. On return of car, with 6 of us and luggage we were initially told we had to wait for the van that was loading for that van to return since it had already 5 people. We asked about a 2nd van and after a while a driver came from the back and drive us. It seemed like they were bothered to do this. I chose lagoon because getting a vehicle for 6 passengers lagoon was the best value for a larger car. I would check a major car rental first before choosing lagoon. I did request a partial refund, but was told no, but I could request sending an email. I would like to tell you that Liam at northbound was very helpful and responded promptly to each of my emails. I would definitely choose northbound again, but probably not pick Lagoon as my car rental.

No issues with the car or with Northbound, but Lagoon Car Rental was not impressive. No one was there to pick us up at the airport as promised, instead we had to call them and wait.

Good morning I'm Patrizia Peinetti, Italian Hiking Guide I have to say that the rental at Lagoon has had some problems. I can not give a positive assessment of the experience, I'm sorry. They were kind and prompt to get me back to the airport. But when they gave me the vehicle (a small car) we went out to check the damage that the car had. The car was full of scratches, some even deep, dents and more. It was impossible to mark all the damage on the form that was delivered to me. Also impossible to take pictures because the weather was dark and horrible. So I was rather worried because it was not possible to establish a safe condition of the vehicle at the start. I drive and rent means all over the world and am a prudent driver. I've never had any problems with any rental company. In my journey along the state 1 I had no accident and when I returned to the rental I was therefore quiet Instead the guy who was in the office saw a line on the bumper and started to say that it was a fracture so I had to pay 700 euros. It did not seem like a fracture to me and if I had done something like that, I would have noticed it. Fortunately, in the meantime another employee arrived who swiped his finger on the line and realized that it was simply a line of dirt: your roads are horrible and in a building site where the road was asphalted a small stretch of tar was deposited on the bumper. I was therefore going to pay 700 euros for a row of dirt. I unfortunately have another rental from 10 to 19 August with this company: this time it is a 9-seater van because I will be with my group of customers. So I hope that there are no other problems with them of this type because it worries me. Best regards Patrizia Peinetti

I was happy with the customer service, but not the car. They gave us a beat up car that was clearly in an accident and we paid full price for it. I would not recommend you guys at this point.

Hi Runar, Thanks for your mail, I'm glad to give some review regarding Lagoon Car Rental. To be honest, I don't think I will rent with them ever again. The reasons why : 1/ I don't think they read the comments that you can write when booking. I'm fully aware that they cannot fulfill everyone's wishes regarding the rented model. As I asked for a i20 because I drive one at home, I thought they would make an effort providing me one. Unfortunately I had to drive a KIA Rio instead (after all a nice car), whilst 1 or 2 couples that were in the office at the same time were given a i20, also for a week. Please don't ask for comments if you don't read them or take them into account. 2/ The KIA they wanted to sell me at first had completely ! ! ! worn out studded tyres (actually all studs had dissapeared). Lagoon tried to minimalize this problem by trying to tell me the tyres were still OK. NOT ! 3/ The KIA I finally got had scratches all around, which they also tried to minimalize. All of this costed me at least 1 hour extra at their office. 4/ The car was lacking a hat shelf. Because of that I had to hide my luggage underneath the car trunk cover, not quite handy. 5/ When at a certain day the remote key for opening the car didn't function anymore, their customer support (although really friendly) were hardly able to help me solve the problem. Fortunately the problem solved itself after opening and closing the key to check the battery. All this said, I trusted Northbound on this. In the future I will have second thoughts on renting through a third party. Unless you can convince me of the opposite. Best regards, Dirk

I had one wish and that went wrong. I didn't get the car I have booked. I was downgraded to "similar" that was not nice. All other things were great, shuttle service, customer service/people at the office, car itself, all good. And Iceland is awesome, we'll be back!

As you know, the car that was reserved for you got into an accident and there were no other vehicles available in the class to rent out. These situations, though uncommon, are unfortunate and we try to accommodate as best as possible. I want to reassure you that we do not receive bookings with the intend to rent out a similar model. Finally it is not a Hyundai i20, is a Kia Río. We had a problem in a Ring Road, cause of the gravel our car goes outside the road. I demanded a crane to our help, but anyone was to our rescue, and Lagoon Car Rental said to me that we need to wait until the next morning (this it was at night), but at the morning anyone appear. Finally, and with the people help, we could to went to the road again. We are very disappointed about this problem. In addition of this, not other problem.

The car we received was clean and of good quality. We received ride to the office and back to the airport. But...we paid for car model Subaru Forester but in the end we received Mitsubishi Outlander. Officer employee explained that web site informs that we're paying for "Subaru Forester or similar". That is true but there is no info behind what "similar is". Forester has better off-road potential than outlander which I explained to office employee - but he told me that there is nothing he could do as there were no foresters available at the moment. That was a big disappointment for me and I requested a call with manager - but I was informed that I can do that only next day and that I have to make decision now whether I take the car or cancel booking. In this case I was forced to take the car that doesn't suit my needs. When I asked about partial refund or discount - again there was nothing he could help me. So I was left without options and without possibility to manage something. Basically that is the reason I give you low rank of service, even despite the car itself was in proper condition.

I would say it was a disaster! It starting with the pick up at the airport which last forever, due to at least 15 car rental on the same morning dixit the driver! But the worst was to come , when I arrived at Lagoon, Pajero 7 seats was not available due to mechanical problems which can happen of course. So the only car available was a land cruiser 5 seats! Reason for renting a 7 seats was that we were 5 adults with luggages and we didn't want to be too tight in the car as we were making a 2500 km trip in 9 days. Due to this issue, after long talking Lagoon gave us a 343 € discount, but with the promise that Pajero when repaired will be delivered either on the same day or the day after to our hotel. And of course Lagoon will let me know what was the progress of the repair. obviously nobody called me, and I called the customer service who told me they sincerely apologise, they understand my disappointment and they will check with the management to grant an additional discount supposed to be in total 55000 Isk which is much higher than 343€! Supposed to be confirmed if accepted by mail which once again never happen! Finally when returning the car, I have to explain once again to somebody else the whole story. And reply was the car was still not repaired and discount granted was high enough to compensate the category difference between Pajero 7 seats and Land Cruiser 5 seats. For your information I was supposed to pay 1836€ including the 15% advance payment for the Pajero 7 seats and I paid for the Landcruiser 1495,4€ it is a nice discount but it will not compensate the fact that customer service was really deficient and during 9 days, 3 passengers ( my daughter, son and father in law ) who were on the backseats were tighten , which spoiled a little bit our trip. Thanks god, Iceland landscapes are extraordinary! I m used to rent car either for my business or for family vacation, and it is the first time I have such a bad service. Best regards H Chambriard
