I rented a camper van the week before renting a car with Nordic Car Rental through a 3rd party called Northbound. The check out took about an hour. They are understaffed and always seem to be way too busy. I asked about adding the mobile wifi but the guy said they don't really work and ton just get a SIM card at the gas station, which I though was a terrible comment from an employee. When I finally got the car it was in a little rough shape. There were a lot of dents, scraps, and wind frame damage with one forward day time running light out, but I guess it was okay because its only needed during the winter time. I got the car on empty and had to immediately take it to the gas station that is thankfully one minute away to fill up. When I tried to fill it up I couldn't find how to open the gas tank, so after 10 minutes I drive back to ask the guy how to open it and it took him a minute to find the lever hiding under the floor mat. The car I had took Petrol 95, which is way more expensive than diesel and burns way more gas. I spent 9,000 Kronas a day to fill it up, but only maybe 3,000 a day in a camper van. after having the car for a day I found out I needed to go home a day earlier and tried to email them and call them, with no response ever to see if I could change the return day and still get a 7:30 am van to the airport because my flight was at 9:30. I decided to arrive at 7:15 and there were 3 groups of people already there, one returning and 2 picking up. Again they are understaffed so I couldn't get checked in and get the shuttle to the airport until past 8 am. I was freaking out because I didn't want to miss my flight but thankfully the shuttle drive was nice and said he wouldn't leave without me! During my wait I witnessed the man being awful to the couple returning the car because they had 600 km limited mileage, but they didn't know that and they also were never told that upon picking up the car. I though it was a very shady thing the care rental company did. I started freaking out that the same thing happened to me but I couldn't look up my agreement because their wifi wouldn't work. All in all I would defiantly advise to just rent a camper van instead, in the long run it'll be cheaper and a WAY better experience. Northbound seems like a great company though to find what you need.

Is always short of staff. There was one particular staff that could not handle working along and had to wait for a long time to get my vehicle.

Hello, I was rented from your company as I am advised to. But unfortunately the car was very old and used much. It did not make us feel good. And we had to wait in the airport, it is so unprofessional. My advise to you to find a way to renting without keep people waiting and get some new cars.

Not very good. We were returning the car in Reykjavik and went to the address circled on the rental form. Hours on the door were posted that it opened at 8 am. No one was there. It was extremely windy and after the second attempt we dropped the key in the tube.

Car was best choice for the Icelandic roads, since it is compact and in same time equipped with four wheal drive, and all the basic essential function needed, but it was obvious the car was frequently used and seen better days, from the state of it and malfunctions during driving process. Nevertheless it got the job done, where other type of cars struggled on the road.

The guys we met at Nordic late at night were very friendly and most helpful. The car's windscreen wipers however were damaged to the point of being dangerous as 10 miles down the road when it rained I could hardly see where I was going at 12.30 at night. When I reported the problem at the drop off I was told that it was my job to fix it and claim for a new set of wipers when I dropped it off. I feel that it would be better if this was checked before a customer finds out too late! The car also had no rear wiper at all.

Checkin was a bit chaotic; Had to track down the shuttle to the car rental place and once there we were asked to pick a number but then the people working behind the counter never advanced the number -- eventually no one was checking in and we were just sitting in a room next to the checkin until finally we just went up to the counter to ask to be checkin. Car - overall the car worked well except one headlight was out, the windshield wipers didnt work well and it came with a tire that had a slow leak. Overall everything worked out fine and the pricepoint was good but had to put up with some small annoyances.

The car they gave was damaged and when we asked for another car they said we could happily cancel our booking and get our deposit back. We requested for another car and the other car was also damaged intact more than the previous one. We were left with no option and in the situation we decided to select the less damaged car as we thought it would be almost impossible to find a new rental car as all were fully booked due to summer rush. We were very disappointed as we had booked our rental car 7 months in advance and paid deposit then. I would never recommend to rent a car from Nordic Car Rentals any of my friends.

Sadly a quite bad experience. The seat wasn't adjustable and no one could fix it, managed it on our own after a while and with their tools. One front light didn't work from pick up on and no one there able to fix this. They wanted to give us a car with worn tires even till/over the safety mark and no one able to change this - after I told them about the tires they told me, they'll always do it this way and can't change tires for everyone. Safety and checking the cars before a rental seems to be not that important... However the trip itself went fine, although difficult with only one light at night

Unglaublich lange Wartezeiten bei Nordic Car Rental, viel zu wenig Personal. Man muss bei Rückgabe 3 Stunden vor Abflug dort sein, weil es ewig dauert. Darum habe ich den Wagen nicht morgens um 5.00 Uhr sondern schon am Vorabend abgegeben. Danke für den kostenlosen Shuttleservice zurück ins Hotel! Scheibenwischer sind anscheinend bei allen Autovermietern in Island in schlechtem Zustand. Ich hatte einen Allradwagen gebucht, der auch für F-Straßen geeignet ist. Deutlicher Hinweis der Autovermietung, dass auf keinerlei F-Straße irgendein Versicherungsschutz besteht.

We came one day early, therefor we didn't get the Dacia but instead we got a suzuki s4. The car was fine and did wat we rented it for. There were a few things not ok with the car, the rear window wiper did not function( in occasional rainy weather in Iceland not nice). Equipped with cruisecontrol but unfortunately this also did not work. Other that those two items , the car was fine . The personnel at Nordic was very friendly and knowledgeable . I would therefor recommend this company

The Rav 4 was an excellent vehicle but the service at Nordic was spotty at best, after two days of having the car we discovered a foul odour building up worse and worse each day. To the point where we had to return the vehicle to Nordic, the customer service was a painful experience as I was redirected to 3 different departments before they finally gave me another car. Unfortunately, the car they gave me was smaller than the original Rav 4 and apparently more expensive on top of it all. The issues didn't stop from there as the car we received reeked of a chemical odour to mask the gas smell that it was having due to a bad gas line. Overall the price was not worth the service of the vehicles or the customer service of the staff. I tried to get clarification and talk to a manager but was never given anything until I paid for my rental in full.

It got us around comfortably enough. The experience getting the car from Nordic was not ideal upon arrival. The car wasn’t clean, had puddles on the mats in the front seat. Windows were dirty, door was somewhat broken. The drop off experience was better.

The vehicle was adequate but was very scratched and dented plus when we opened the front passenger window, it would not go back up automatically. all in all, it was a reasonable price so I was satisfied but I would not pay more for this particular vehicle.

First vehicle did not work. Second vehicle also had problems. Then tried to charge me for a broken windshield that was there when I got it. Shuttle driver almost made me miss my flight. The price mostly makes up for the hassles though.

The Guy who picks us from the airport was very kind and give us some useful information to drive in Iceland. When we arrive at the office we had to check the car and we notice and took photos of everything we could notice without driving the car. When we take the car to went home we could notice that the car had 260.000km , the steering wheel was pointing right when the car was going straight.... the doors were crooked and the water for cleaning the windscreen was empty (after that we fill it every morning and after 2 times it was empty again)... we actually didn't have the time to change the car.. we call to the office the same night and the guy told us that if the car was going straight there would be no risk and that we wouldn't have problems with you... so we decided to take th car and go for our trip. It was a little bit hard but we do it... maybe someone else not;)

The experience picking up the car wasn't pleasant unfortunately. The car was in a very bad state and it took me 15/20mins to mark all the damage on the car which made me uncomfortable. The registration plate had fallen off and there was a piece of cardboard in the boot window with the plate number. On top of this, the car didn't start so I told the agent that I wasn't happy taking this car and asked for it to be changed. They were polite but also very pushy in wanting me to take the original car as they kept assuring me it was ok. After repeatedly explaining that I was not comfortable taking the car, they finally agreed to give me a second car which I was very grateful for. The car was in better condition and was very comfortable to drive along with us having no issues with it along the way. The only thing I will say it both cars were filthy and I was told this was because of the dirt on the roads. I rent cars on a regular basis in many different companies and they are all cleaned prior to collection. I had paid for a vehicle with Bluetooth but this car didn't have any. I didn't mention this as I didn't want further issues or delays. On return the agent was extremely nice, checked the car and all was fine. He was very quick at getting us to the Airport hotel which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, I would not rent from here again as the experience didn't start our holiday off very well.

Can you please next time before you give a car (in this case our Toyota RAV4) to a customer to do a real good check: We received our car and GPS was not working. (we received after insisting a Garmin) We left direction to Reykjavik by day, but in the evening we find out that only one light was working (front –driver side) and the front fog lamps did not work. Due to timing -because this was business trip to Akureyri -we didn’t had the time to come to back to Northbound. For the rest the car was clean and we were glad to have spikes on it. Motor and comfort were very good. I will come back next year in April but I’m not sure that I will rent a car again via your services. If you can convince me, feel free to do so.

Moderate, as my reservation change was not somehow in Nordic Car Rental visible and I did not get the car I ordered 1st day. Also was agreed that in Monday they will deliver the car I wanted to our apartment but when they did not arrived as was agreed I called and they said the car is waiting in their office at Reykjavik and they have only one lady there who does not have the driver license. I got the car 2 hours later than I was expecting and it was not Qashqai but Xtrail

The service was great, the staff were helpful. However, the rental was not good. The jimmy that was provided had almost bald tires all around and he front were summer tires not all season. As well, we paid for a 4 wheel drive vehicle but the jimmy that was provided, the 4 wheel drive option was not working. We didn’t figure that out till half way through the trip and it affected our plans. So overall we did t have a good experience with the rental. Once again good staff bad rentals.
