Northern Lights Car Rental in Iceland

The car was new ans drove well. I was glad to have a 4WD as it was a winter with snow and ice in the car parking areas.

I had looked at various rental options but found a 4x4 to be expensive until i found Northbound. From booking the communication was excellent. Our flight arrived 30 minutes early but after making a call we only waited 10 minutes to be picked up. The rental location as about 10 minutes from the airport. As I had booked the full insurance, after signing a few documents we were on our way. There was an issue with the sat nav but we were quickly given a Garmin. On returning the car, after a quick check we were on our way. I have hired cars in various parts of the world but this was one of the easiest.

The car ran very well, the tires were in great condition, heating was excellent and the heated seats were a great addition. The only problem was that the radar brake function wasn't working but it wasn't a huge problem because we did mostly long distance driving. I felt safe in the car because the high beams worked well and it got me through a pretty heavy snowstorm on our way from Vik to Hofn.

Loved the car, it drove nicely and the heated seats were a nice added touch. It barely had any windshield wiper fluid in it however so we were very lucky to have decent weather because that could have been very dangerous! And the passenger side window doesn't work very well so we couldn't put it down to take clear pictures as you never knew if it would go back up all the way. But overall, it was a great trip and great price.

The 4x4 was great. Easy to drive. No problems driving it with the light snow we had. Hope to see you again soon.

Really good service picked up on time and dropped off. The Dacia was a good choice for the roads and the price excellent. Highly recommend Northern lights car rental and will be renting again later this year.

The Suzuki Vitara was a bit glitchy but still dependable. The staff were great and provided excellent service. Fully recommended.

My sister and I recently traveled to Iceland and were very worried about choosing a car rental company. We had read and heard of horror stories from different companies. I am so glad that we went with Northern Lights Car Rental! They made the entire process surprisingly easy. We were picked up from the airport at the correct time. When we arrived to their facility to pick up the car they were very kind, offered us a cup of coffee, and went over the rental agreement with us. They were very helpful and even upgraded our car which was wonderful in the snowy conditions. We had no issues whatsoever. When we dropped the car off I couldn't believe how easy the process was. We were driven back to the airport as soon as we arrived. Thank you for your kindness and for answering all of our (many) questions! Would highly recommend.

Great experience from start to finish. Any enquiry by email was answered within hours, Thankyou Thordis. When we arrived in Reykjavik at midnight, we were immediately transferred to the car rental terminal just off the airport. I actually booked a Suzuki Vitara for 4 days but was upgraded at no charge. Took the platinum insurance package just to be sure, but no issues at all. I took photos around the car as recommended by the representative from Northbound, returned it with a full tank and we were transported back to the airport. I would have no hesitation in renting from Northbound car rentals whatsoever. 5*.

It is a good car! The weather in Iceland was so bad when we were there, but the car makes us feeling safe on the snowing road. It was a good experience.

Hiring our Dacia Duster 4x4 was a simple straightforward experience. I would recommend this local company and will use them again in future. Hassle free experience. NExt htough i will be wanting to hire a camper van! Enjoy Iceland - Wonderful country and people!

We had a good experience with NLCR. The Dacia Duster 4x4 is very suitable for roadtrips in Iceland. Smooth pick-up and drop-off procedure. Only point of improvement: we got a form with notes of existing damage on the car and were asked to sign this form withpout even seeing the car. It would be more appropriate to take a look at the car first, together with an employee of NLCR, and then to sign this form.

Great overall service, and fantastic Customer care team.

Highly recommended. I had issues, probably my fault, with a dead battery and I had very little time to spare. In no time it was sorted and I was on my way to my engagement. Fantastic service, I’m returning in June and will be using Northern Lights again for my trip.

My experience with nordbound and northern lights was amazing. The service was great and pretty fast. This was my first time renting a car and i couldnt have chosen a better rental company. The people who work there are really calming, professional and are very clear.
