Car Rentals in Iceland

Our rental experience was great using Grand Iceland. The Landrover was clean, fully functional, good tires, and just what we were looking for to compliment our winter trip in Iceland.

I took platinum care for peace of mind and I was happy driving. the only thing which surprised me AFTER payment was a list of exclusions fr total package, for example insurance excluded assistance and rollover and doors blown by wind. this was not mentioned. anyways the car was fine but had few dents before rental and bumpers were not in perfect state and driver door had some issue closing. I believe that this was because I took the full insurance so company did not want to give their best car. for 140eur per 2 days I would expect a bit more. regards northbound all was fine.

I was really pleased with both the car and service provided, very efficient and the staff (Faro) were so friendly and helpful. Car worked a treat in the heavy snowfall and was very comfortable.

Very comfortable and ideal for 7 people with carry on luggage.

The Suzuki we first got had just winter tyres no spikes. The car already run 280.000km. The door from the sidecar passenger was damaged. The wind was blowing throw the door and you could see the A-pillar throw the sealing of the door. On the second day the battery has crashed after we spent a half hour walking. Then I have called them and explained the problem with the battery. They said probably we have forgotten something to take off in the car. Probably it would be our Fault but when we do not feel safe with the car we could come back and change it. That is what we did. Then I explained the problem with the door. At this point the guy already noticed that a steel plate is missing at the door. I explained him that this probably has been already when we got the car because of the damage the door already has. Then he asked me if I had talked with someone about that already. I have denied that. Then he saw that I have a full insurance and than it was no problem anymore. Concerning the battery he said this was probably not our fault because the battery has crashed so fast After all we got a Kia Sportage. This worked quit well.

Our experience with Lagoon car rental was great! The staff were super nice and attentive. In fact, they were easily reachable by email whenever I needed them. The car we originally rented had been damaged by a previous renter so we had to settle for a car that was two years older. They gave us a router (we didn't use) for free. The Dacia Duster was amazing! We felt safe with the studded tires that we gave a workout to since the weather was very snowy. I am very thankful to have had such a great experience with Lagoon. I would use them again if I am ever lucky enough to return to the beautiful land of Iceland! I also loved the "Iceland 101" booklet that Northbound gave us online. I printed it and both my husband and I read it. Lots of useful information! We even brought it with us on our trip!

The rental went very smoothly and the car worked very nicely for us. The provided GPS in particular was very helpful.

the pick up experience was quick and easy. The rental was very complete, we had a silver pack insurance so there was no hussle about extra insurance and credit card blocks etc. The car was very convenient, automatic gear, good winter tires with spikes, extra 'snow' button in the car for better grip, navigation in the car and all very good. The information provided was complete and also the returning was quick and without any remarks.

Great experience. Fast pickup at the airport. We where in our 4x4 within half an hour after landing. Got a free upgrade, which was very nice. Next time when we're in Iceland we are definitely using Icerental 4x4 again.

From start to finish Northbound kept us informed. Although the car was not pristine everything was great and having rented spotless almost brand new vehicles you can end up worrying about the tiniest blemish that may occur so it was perfect for us! Thank you!

The collection, hire and return to the airport went smoothly and, most importantly, there was none of the high-pressure sales nonsense trying to get me to buy extra insurance etc. Some queuing but nothing exceptional. The car (Suzuki Vitara AWD) was a little 'tired' but it was reliable and was fitted with good winter tyres and studs. Absolutely essential for my visit as we were on snow or ice most of the time. I would NOT have got up the hill to the Air bnb without AWD.

I will never regreat choosing Icerental 4x4. People working there was awesome. Very accomodable and friendly. We couldn't catch our flight because of closed road and we were late to drop off our car. They were very understanding about that and other problem we had due to the weather and so correct by returning the car. I really recommand Icerental 4x4 to everybody and wanted to thank them one more time ! They make our trip in Iceland more wonderful than ever! Thank you so much, you are great people! Hope we can see us again ...

Good, but the car uses a lot of fuel.

The car was very good. I didn't actually get a vitara, I got a newer car which was a pleasant surprise. Everything was great and the pickup was smooth and easy. The one feedback that I'd like to give is that I didn't like that when I returned the car and everything was good, I didn't get a receipt or a confirmation email or anything like this to say all good, file closed and the money held on your credit card will be released. This is pretty standard and it felt a bit unprofessional that I couldn't get a receipt or a signature on my pick up papers that the car has been returned and all is good. When i asked for one, it felt like I was asking for something strange even though that's very standard in other car rental companies. I would use northbound again because I had a good experience, but this is the only thing I hope would change the next time I use northbound. Thanks

It was fine albeit an older model with some 176k kms on the clock. This made its condition harder to assess although it was agreed at return that it was the same as at issue. I am awaiting the return of my deposit as I write.

the car was good, but somebody of the compagny should have told me before that winter time is not the right time to rent this kind of car , the price is to high for this conditione , there are no f roads to drive on they where al closed , I had the impression that i could go camp anywhere but this was not possible, camp sites are very expensive , we pay 2000 kr pp for a bit of toilet paper and shower. the compagny should have advised people like me to rent a normal 4x4 and stay in campsite houses , that way we should safe money and have a better time. for the rest iceland is amazing . greet vincent

Great car and felt very safe in the snow. The price was much lower than a lot of other place I priced and the price was great for what it included without extra fees - snow tires, 4-wheel drive, larger car and GPS. Very nice staff and prompt pick up and drop off.

Excellent vehicle , great diesel engine, roomy and comfortable, served us well in very wintery conditions.

Everything was great. Good cars and service by a good price. The car was in great conditions and made us feel us in the winter roads of Iceland. The process to get and deliver the car was very simple having always an available shutlle to the airport. They were very flexible with a problem that we had due to the Iceland weather and didn't charged extra. I recommend, without questions, Northern Lights Car Rental to have a confortable and safe roadtrip in Iceland.
