just fantastic, drove beautifully

Great customer service

The car we hired from Icerental 4x4 had some serious problems with the headlights. The plastic was not clear and blocked a good amount of light coming out. In the 3rd day, after driving about 200 km at night and trying my best not to go off the road every time I had a car coming from the front, I contacted the company telling them the problem and asking for a replacement car. They asked me to go back to Keflavik and exchange the car, they did't have anybody to send to Reykjavik (or didn't want to do it). As it was already 10 PM, and I had to rest for the next morning's trip that started at 5:00 AM, I was forced to pass the offer and to keep the car. Although it was my decission, I felt like I was't helped as I should have. I paid in advance, with full insurence, so I expected they would come to me, not me to them on my own time and expense. Anyway, I would like to thank Northbound for the TOP service they provided, and Rúnar for his dedication. Keep up the good work! I would definitely recommend Northbound!

Dealing with Northbound was fantastic, easy to deal with and very good communication. Fantastic service. Nordic was also quite good to deal with and provided a quality service.

Very efficient service and friendly staff. The only criticism is that the sat nav I was given didn’t work and they had no replacement. However, they did refund me what it would have cost to hire one. All in all, very happy

Quick pickup from the airport, with a good clean car

Nice friendly staff, patient enough to explain everything. I accidentally booked an old car, didn’t see clearly in the website I could upgrade to a newer one, but the car seems fine.

Overall I would use again, but not perfect. Emailed instructions for pickup could have been better. Checkin was fast. Gas tank wasn't 100% full, 1 bar was missing. Windshield wipers needed replacing. Dependable vehicle and handled the snow covered roads great. Drop off was quick, tho the lady wasn't as friendly as everyone else. No one tried to upsell anything other than offering insurance.

My general experience was awesome, they pick you up at the airport. then you go to the office and you get the car, easy and fast, the staff was always so kind and they answered all our questions. The car was excellent. I highly recomend northbound if you are planning to visit the amazing land of ice and fire.

We did not get the Ford but it was ok to get another car. Maybe it's a good idea to check the cars more often. The car didn't have a full tank of gasoline. Both of the gas cannisters were almost empty, so i had to buy a new one. The screenwipers are so bad that i had to drive really slow when it was raining (really dangerous). But the most annoying thing was that they told us to use some kind a of a wrench to flip the chairs. The handles to flip the chairs were gone... If i rent a campervan i don't want an improvised car. I want everything to work properly. especially the things you use every day!! they were really friendly on the phone but told me that everything worked and if i wanted another car i had to wait for a day. We had a really tight schedule so we chose to keep the car. If it all worked properly it was a great camper, but now i don't know if i would rent here again.

Everything was great. No hidden fees, very good advice on what insurance plan to choose.

Generally the experience with Icerental 4X4 was good but the car wasn’t supplied with an ice scraper and also the windscreen wiper blades were in bad condition making visibility difficult.

Overall the experience I had with Northbound was excellent. The car I hired was very nice. Everything worked. We also decided to get the WiFi dongle as an extra, as we thought it would be easier overall, rather than buying a sim, and then hot spotting to each device. We weren't disappointed there either. The internet worked everywhere and it was fast. I'd highly recommend anyone thinking to rent a car, to rent from Northbound/Thrifty. It was a very smooth experience. Thanks!

Customer service was good. My advice to travelers is to check with your insurance company and think ahead about the level of coverage you want in Iceland. The two vehicles we used were well maintained. We visited in the winter and I recommend you rent a vehicle studded tires during those months. Johnny

The car was fine, we covered a lot of distance in the middle of winter and there were no problems with it. The studded snow tyres gripped the road well. The car has sufficient space for 5 adults + luggage. We were met at the airport and taken about 15mins away to the hire company office, where the details were quickly arranged.

Overall rental experience was ok, what seemed like value for money turned out to be a little more complicated (ie no insurance included leaving you with a deposit of up to €700 and the staff made us quite aware that any scratch or damage will be charged to such deposit). Considering the age of the car (2011, approx. 320k kilometers/185k miles) that seemed a little off, as such we opted for the better be safe than sorry option and paid the rental price again in special insurance with no deposit. The car itself was ok to drive and did its job to get around Iceland.

The car was very good and came at good value for money. Only problem was, that Northern Lights tried to sell us an insurance on top that was more than half the rental price. Furthermore, 2,500 € were blocked from the credit card, which we didn't know before. So we had to transfer the money while we were in the agency. Apart from that, everything was great. Excellent, this car was perfect to our needs, it was in a good status, and we haven't any problem in Iceland road's.

We did wait an hour at the airport and I had to ring the office, the guy said he had been 4 times problery you need a clearer board to hold up , other than that the car was great and returning the car went smoothly and fast return to the airport.
