4 star reviews for all companies
Es war eine angenehme Fahrt mit diesem Fahrzeug
I found picking up the rental to be difficult/confusing. The website I booked under and all emails I received were from “Northbound”. So when we were looking for our driver we were looking for him to be holding Northbound or our name on the sign. More details in instructions on voucher could have avoided this (look for Icerental 4x4 sign). Once we figured out who our driver was (2 hrs later) there was not enough room in van for everyone he was picking up. Then once we got to site there was a long line to wait to get our rental. Once we finally got to our person everything went well. The staff was very kind and helpful. Dropping off the car went smoothly. Overall I would recommend (the price was hard to beat and the staff is kind), just hopeful this review will get a more detailed explanation of what to look for/expect at pick up onto the voucher because that was a really rough way to come off a long flight into a new country...
The Dacia Duster 4x4 was ok for Iceland. It is the right car also for route F.
It was okay considering it was an older used model. Perhaps some cleaning could be improved before renting to other customers
We had a Ford Kuga
Was alright, enought space and easy to drive.

The car key didn’t work properly, baterry I guess..
Right car door had a big dent from another crash and after 2 days they couldn’t close properly,
Right light didn’t work.
My frends had 3 cars from Blue rental and they were perfect condition.
25.8. at 4:40 we came to Lava and nobody was there, at 5h came the man who came to work and was suprised that we were alone and nobody was at the desk.
We had a great experience in Iceland with Blue Lagoon Car Rental. When arrived at the Keflavik airport (at night, 00:30 am)we didn't see anyone of the rental so we called them and in less than 5 minutes they came to pick up us. The car was equipped with all we requested, the guy at the desk clearly gave us some important information about the driving in Iceland. Before picking up the car, we were able to check and flag in a paper all the scratches, dents, cracks, missings, exc already present in the car to avoid future misunderstanding.
The only flaw encountered during our trip was that the grill was unusable because of incorrect gas bottle dotation (however price of this service was not significant). We are happy to suggest Blue Lagoon to whoever wanna take a "on the road" trip in Iceland.
The car was pretty good, with no problem at all, maybe in four it is a little bit small. In the description, this vehicle should have cruise contro, but i cannot be able to find it...
The check in was quite long (2 hours To get the keys).
No problem with the car we rent, the check out was more efficient !
The experience in general was good, a part from two things.
I suggest customer to check every optional included in the booking before leaving: we received only one gas canister instead of the two booked. When we checked everything, we were already in the north and not every shop sells the brand campingaz: the third night we couldn’t cook (I don’t think the gas canister they gave us was new and full, but already opened and new).
I suggest the company to check the car before give it to new customers: while we were in the north, it has been signaled by the car the absence of AdBlue: the car would have stopped in 1000 km. We had to go to the first “N1” shop to get AdBlue refill.
Fortunately, the assistance was really good and they always answered us in short time
Very good service. The car had many scratches but technical OK.
Was not a Dacia Logan but a Hunday I30.
All was fine, the only problemwe had to wait 40 minutes before someone picked us up to pick up the car.
Car was just right for our needs.
Lagoon car rental were v helpful.
We were not offered any additional insurance which when we hired the car was ok. But we got a chip in the windscreen and it turns out this is a common thing in iceland, 5 cars a week at Lagoon. I had to pay 700eur. I would have liked to have been made aware of the high risk and the extra insurance available. This could have saved me over 600eur.
We went camping it would have made it easier to filter the facilities at each campsite so we could easily see those with kitchens and cooking facilities.
The car was good, though the steering wheel was a bit shaky at speeds between 70/80. Furthermore the roof tent was fine but during windy and rainy weather, water came insight and it became wet. In addition, the cooking stove was not really working properly as we were not able to adjust the flame. These are some small drawbacks concerning the equipment - would be good if these would be fixed for the next customer. But in general we are satisfied with your service.
We had a "similar" car which was Subaru xv. Car was very nice and good. Only remarkable difference was that I rent diesel and subaru was petrol. Fuel consumption was a bit bigger. I rent also two camping mattress with car and those were quite poor. Gps, sleeping bags and cooling box was good. Service was good. Thanks :)

The car itself was great, but the service was not ideal. The car needed check-ups that should have happened prior to rental. The rear light was out, making reversing in the dark dangerous and challenging. Start-up was weak and concerning. I was not sure if the car would make it. We purchased camping kitchen gear and there was no cutting knife provided, either. This is a pretty standard tool for camping and the response we got was that we were being a bit demanding.
Ok, a little smaller in the back seat for 3 adults than we had hoped for. The car ran perfectly and we enjoyed getting around in it. Appreciated the charger for a phone and r
Generally, all was good: the rental got us around Iceland over 2400 km. Some details, however, were irritating. The walk to the shuttle was a bother with all our luggage, in the rain. Other rentals had a representative and car available to the rental office. The actual rental office allowed for pushy renters to check in ahead of others. The standing desks and paperwork were uninviting. The agent could have helped us get to and find our car rather than vaguely saying where we’d find it. Tight, tight lot. Early on road problems ( leaking rear tire pressure required constant refilling; warning lights in German on a Japanese car; unrealistic solutions, like returning the car from far north). We managed on our own. Curt return, “Take everything out of the car and come back so we can go out and check the car for damage,”. Seemingly little problems, unresolved, left a sour taste and poor memories of an otherwise wonderful country...
trip in Iceland was unforgettable. We enjoyd every moment even the rainy days!
Pick up from the airport was good and we foud the driver afterall. We we arrived to the office and it was quite busy. But the quoue went fast. We got our car and when we started to drive it we noticed that the light on sings in the meter panel didnt work at all. We couldnt see how much there were gasoline or the blinker indikator didnt work. After that we drove the car back to the office and the office worker gave us another car which was ok. When we went througn the papers it was quite messy. There was a little lack of information becouse our first car was a diesel car as the office worker said and the second one was regular 95 gasoline which the office worker didnt say to us. i had to confirm that from the emergeny number before i filled the tank.
But after all it was nice trip and the second car was good...
Experience was good. The car was great on gas and very comfortable ! The roof top tents are a fun idea, but they are not very water proof. Therefore, they are not good when it’s very rainy and windy!
Very good overall. I was first given car that had an overpowering diesel fuel or cleaning fluid smell. This was quickly and easily changed, though perhaps should not have been given in the first place.
The Dacia Duster was a good car for the 7 days camping trip in Iceland during september. Even while raining, we really enjoyed sleeping in the roof tent. The car was not "perfectly" clean when we received it. However, it was enough for our expectations, we are young and the essential was to access to an F-road car for a low price.
Nevertheless, we thought the car was 4WD, but it appears that this option was not installed on the Dacia. We did not ride on crazy roads were it was needed but, as a suggestion, as it is a F-road car, it would be a good safety measure to instaure it.
Thank you for your service we had a great time!
All ok, the car worked with no major issues. The transfer from/to the airport was ok even when we arrived in a quite late flight.
As a recommendation, the 'low tire pressure' light turned on the second day, seems it is something common on the Dacia, so perhaps if the staff can advice in advance, the user does not worry if it happens.
Nordic Car Rental on the whole has been pretty good for us in our recent trip to Iceland. We were picked up where they mentioned us prior with a little delay. The delay is understandable because the driver is driving back and forth to the Airport/Car Rental place.
The thing which was little annoying was the wait at the Car Rental office itself. We came out the airport at 9:15 and the by the time we were handed over the car it was 11:30 AM. We were asked to wait after taking a ticket in the office and nobody called us until an hour. At that point when couple of other customer inquired they mentioned they did not realize that we were waiting for car pickup! I think that was unacceptable part.
Because of the above reasons I rate 4. But I think I would recommend them to anyone because it is mostly, probably an misunderstanding on the counter personnel part. The drop off was smooth and quick.
I asked to show me the car before I pay. Car was dirty inside and in very bad condition, I asked about another one. They said they do not have. I did not accepted that one and was ready to look for other rental company, then they gave me Renault Traffic in excellent condition. Car was great. I would not recommend anyone to pay before you see the car.
Vehicle as agreed, service great.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The 4x4 was reliable. Unfortunately for the money, approx $100/day, the car was very old.
My general experience with Grand Iceland it's positive due we had a great trip, the campervan worked perfectly and the mattress was confortable (slept really well). The man that attended us was talkative and funny. He was really nice giving us tips, recommendations, extra blankets and flexibility with the drop off. Even gave us him phone number to be in contact just in case anything happened. I really appreciated it.
As a cons, I'd say I found a little lack of professionalism since the sink and tab were leaking ( talked to another Grand Iceland user and told me his was leaking too ). Also rented one table and two chairs, noticed they were not on the van and had to go back to Reykjavik the day after. I could not make the table stand more than one feet over the ground since looked like the legs did not belong to that table and both chairs were broken and could not use them ( and huge since you want them small to save space in the van )...
