It was a good car, running smoothly, with a few minor flaws. The tyres were already quite worn down. The camping kitchen equipment was partly broken: The stove was lacking the valve, some of the plates were broken. A yellow warning sign was on all the time, apparently without significance, as I was told by the Wild Campers staff.
Pick up time was 13.00 pm, but no one showed up at the airport. Unfortunately, neither Northern Lights Car Rental or Northbound were reachable per phone. After 2 hours we managed to reach Northern Lights and they picked us up. Afterwards everything was fine, even if the office of Northern Car Rental doesn't convey the most serious impression (Not reachable, all the guys working there in tracksuit pants, building under construction...).
The Trip with the Jimny was very good and everything worked well. The roof tent is very comfortable and the sleeping bags were warm and proper. There was unfortunately no AUX port as promised on the booking. The reservation on my creditcard is not deleted yet, so i hope that everything will be OK and it will be cancelled regarding that we haven't made any scratches or similar and brought back the Jimny in wonderful condition.
So after some strggles at the beginning, it was all in all a very nice trip with this car and the rental worked well...
It was ok, but a missing plastic underbody (I lost it when I crossed a river) was too expensive. I had to pay 362 € - in my country is 150 €.
And I missed a beep sound when reversing.
The car was quite new and fresh.
Camping equipment was ok, though we got used gasbottles that didn't last long.
Bedlinen ok, though worn (holes). Matress sheet was wet when we first took it out
We did not receive the Hyundai i20 that we were supposed to have. We instead were given a Nissan Note that was not as great as what we were expecting. The brakes constantly squeaked, the radio did not work, and it did not have the space we were expecting to have when we chose the Hyundai when booking. That being said, the pickup and dropoff went quick and easy, the price was the best we could find, and they provided a free shuttle after dropoff to the airport.

Hi guy`s from Star Car Rental, My general expierience with Dacia Duster was a complitely round around Island. I was very satisfied with your service and contact befor the trip started. Your pick-up service from the airport was also very enjoyable, because your rental station is located outside of the airport. Unfortunately I had a flat tyre at the second day of my trip, but it was a little expenditure to let repair. At this day I send you a mail, but I had not get an answer. This I found a little bit fault.
On the whole I was satified with your company and I would recommend you to my friends.

It could be better cleaned inside, but car as a car worked fine and never let us down. We hadn’t go in no dangerous situations, so, it was ok
My experience with Northbound was great. Everything was fast and we had a good service. Would recommend to anyone who wants to rent a car. The only thing is that the Suzuki Jimny had some minor repairs to do, like the steering (it was shaking a little bit).
Pick up from the airport was straightforward. It was about a 10 minute drive from the airport to the rental. We originally received a Suzuki Jimny that we had reserved. The car had a large amount of dings, dents, and chips in the windshield. After driving for less than one hour, we heard a strange noise and realized the temperature gauge was rising quickly. We pulled over, popped the hood, and saw there was no antifreeze in the car. We called the provided Icerental 4x4 road service number and explained our situation. After waiting over one and half hours, David delivered a new car to us. We received an upgraded replacement car as a courtesy for the trouble. David was friendly, professional and apologetic. From there, we had no issues with our new car, a Suzuki Vitara, and the return process was smooth and easy. We would consider using Icerental 4x4 in the future, but we would likely reserve a newer model of car to avoid repeating our troubles.
Overall good experience - pick-up at the airport was on-time, and the rental process overall was very smooth and easy. The car itself ran and did it's job, though it did have a couple of concerning noises while driving in certain conditions. The tent held up as well as a single-walled tent can (some water got in while it was set-up in rainy weather) but held up to wind very well. We had to get a jump start at the very beginning of the trip, but they sent someone out very promptly and then inspected the car before sending us on our way. The return process was also easy, though having the top-level insurance probably helped. Would probably rent again.

The car was brand new so no complaint about it.
However about 5 kilometres after leaving the office, the fuel gage went down one bar, clearly showing the tank was not full when received.
Another point, we were supposed to be met at the airport by someone holding a sign with our name on it. This wasn’t the case unfortunately. We had to call twice before someone came, almost 30 minutes later, that was very annoying after a long journey by train + plane and still having plans for that evening with our kids.
Apart from this, the car was good, even though the engine was a bit weak and no a/c, but we drove with the windows open most of the time, which was uncomfortable for the kids at the back but manageable.
The staff was pleasant, the office nice and the free coffee appreciated.
when we arrived someone at the reception was so angry that we got suspicious and took the car very exactly - you really should take your time for that. The mechanic - Rafael - helped us a lot. Rafael was very competent and nice. The roof window was provisionally closed with a plastic sheet because the spare part wasn't there yet, but Rafael helped us secure it again so it wouldn't rain in.
The car ran very well and there were no problems. Also the return ran off, due to the exact acceptance, without problems.
Altogether the rental made a somewhat chaotic, but nice impression.

The camper van was bigger than I was expected (with high roof) which was good for comfort but bad for fuel consumption.
The curtains were too short or missing.
The vehicle was a bit old and noisy
Car has few scratches but in so mountain and rocky country you can not expect anything else. It was fully funtional.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and easy to work with. Despite the off airport location, the pick up and drop off were fast and simple. The car itself was noisier than we would have preferred, and there were a few non-functioning items.
The Duster was okay. But we had to change a wheel because we ran flat. Lava car blamed us for the flat tire and wanted to charge us 150 Euro for the repair. We ended up with 53 Euro. But we were still not happy with that. We were lucky to have a sparetire and my friend knew how to change it. Me alone would have been helpless
When I arrived, there were violent storms. That's why there was so much chaos at the airport.
I expected the Icerental to adjust to it. But that was not the case, the handover staff - only two Pwrsons - was totally overtaxed. I had to wait at the airport for one hour for the shuttle, and then in the office for another hour until I received the car. That was an imposition. Im strömenden Regen unterwegs stellte ich fest, dass alle Scheibenwischer kaputt waren. Auf meine Nachfrage hiess es, ich könne sie an jeder Tankstelle ersetzen. Ich musste dann über 150km weit fahren, um den linken Wischer voren zu ersetzen. Den rechts und hinten fand ich während zwei Monaten nicht, auch nicht in Reykjavik. Zudem war das Handbuch auf Polnisch. Das Auto selber ist super gefahren, ich hatte sonst keinerlei Probleme. Das Abgabepersonal (ein Herr aus Albanien) war enorm freundlich!
Great service from start to end (including pickup and drop from/to airport service charged). Very satisfied and recommend strongly for those looking for such adventure we really enjoyed with dacia customised van fit for purpose.
Thanks to have honoured the contract by allowing us to discover Iceland / WestFiord in 10days with the freedom of having a campervan. All necessary items were on board of the vehicle to please us among the wild and marvelleous environment. Very lucky with charming and dry weather all along the journey.
I am sure your service at actual reasonable price will make many more happy campers.
Few personal suggestion if considered as room of improvement:
a) the photocopy of the credit card both sides was frightening/scaring us at the pick-up desk even if we understood you experienced real troubles with bad customers in the past. It should be possible to keep only a print (engravement of the front part of the card only rather than risking the papercopy ends up in wrong hand)
b) staff was surprised we asked them to provide a statement/signature to confirm we returned the vehicle that day and all was ok...
The car was ok. The only criticism is that the car was very dirty.
General experience with Icerental 4x4 was ok. Airportservice. Friendly people. Fine car.
No different than other carrentals in trying to sell you all kind of expansive insurances. Same goes for trying to scare you about the risks if you do not take these insurances. That together with own risk in almost everything including vulcanic ash-dammage and the repair/newbuy of flat tyre a is a bit much. But then again the rent-price is low. All and all fine.
Well organised, efficient. Staff knew what they were doing.
There were a couple of maintenance issues with the vehicle that I mentioned on return
The general experience was fine... but it was difficult to identify to find you form the airport, your instructions were not clear, the bus driver has never heard about Northbound, you could update the airport information stickers with your company.

The car was an older car with a lot of mileage on it, but we expected this. We felt very safe in it, however as soon as we received it the tire pressure light was on. We were slightly worried about the tires during our trip. Aside from the tires, the car had great gas mileage and served us well! The pick-up from the airport and check-in process was very easy and everyone was very helpful.
