Car Rentals in Iceland

I got a recommendation by a friend to use northbound for getting a rental car in Iceland. Everything went well, the comparison as well as the booking. Also about star car, I can't say anything negative about. Everything went smooth and uncomplicated. As I've have a questions sometimes concerning the car it was always answered directly and friendly at the phone. For one or two persons who just want to travel on normal main- and gravel roads, it's the cheapest and an absolutely practical solution. Also it's very economic concerning fuel consumption.

We received the booked car which was brandnew with not even 10.000 km. The service at MyCar was almost perfect. I would have liked more explanations before driving (e.g. we noticed later that there was no cruise control available, which is really necessary in Iceland). I would recommend to organize a pick-up of the clients who arrive with a cruise ship. We were waiting for 0,5 hour in the rain to get a taxi to drive only 2km to the MyCar station.

We really appreciates its comfort and certainly is engine power that was enough strong to bring us up where we want to go

The KIA Shortage worked well for us. We had 4 adults and multiple pieces of luggage and had plenty of room. It was economical but with the 4WD we had no issues on the many unpaved roads we encountered.

A Knife and a cutting board added to the kitchen supplies would be nice, otherwise everything was fine

We had a really good experience with retning a camper from Star Car Rental. The staff was really helpful and kind.

Absoluetly perfect. It was my first time with a van and everything was beyond my expectations. CampEasy staff was really nice at the checkin. We had all informations that were needed. Even if the van was a bit old according to CampEasy, everything was perfect. 4 motion was a real plus for our trip and automatic gear made all the roads much more comfortables. I know that I have to come back to Iceland because there are so many things to see there. And will be probably with CampEasy !

Even the delivery of the vehicle at 05.00 in the morning, they asked me to leave the car with the keys in the dashboard directly at the airport parking lot, and they took care of picking up the vehicle. I also left an MP3 player in the car, they took care of sending it to me in Italy. Highly recommended.

It was really good to drive it

The Jimny 4x4 was the perfect travel vehicle for Iceland. However, as the cage separating the front from the truck does not allow the seats to tilt back, it's not a comfortable vehicle to drive if you're tall. The full insurance package allowed us freedom from anxiety to travel on every road.

The car was very nice, clean and in good condition. Within 30 minutes after arriving we were on the road. No unnecessary administration and delay. Staff was very friendly and welcoming!

The time to wait to get picked up from airport KEF to Lotus Car Rental and back was terrible. longer waiting after a flight or before a flight is always a bad experience. So it was about 25 minutes when we arrived and about 20 minutes when we departed. I could imagine a public bus transport with fix time table would be more convenient. Then the predictability would be more clear.

Everything went fine – booking (and contact when I realized that I had made a mistake with the booking) as well as the shuttle from and to the airport. The car was nothing fancy but absolutely okay and quite new.

MYCAR was easy to use and very responsive! When I accidentally booked a manual instead of automatic transmission, they were very helpful in changing the booking for me. The prices were also the best I could find in Iceland, and our experience was well worth the money.

2023 Renault Trafic Automatic from LuxeRental was a fantastic friend for our adventure around Iceland! 2300 km in 10 days without any problem. It was clean and available on time. Thank you to Siggi that waited us more than an hour because of our baggage claim and he was available for any necessity during these two weeks.

We rented a Hyundai i10 for 5 days, and overall, the car matched its price point. However, we encountered a few issues during our trip. On the second day, the rear left door got stuck and wouldn't open for the rest of the rental period. On the third day, we started having trouble with the trunk and the key. The trunk would only open after repeatedly pressing the button on the key, and it seemed like the key's battery was running low, making all operations take much longer than expected. Despite these issues, we were generally satisfied with our experience and would consider renting from this company again. The Hyundai i10 has excellent fuel efficiency and offers great value for budget-conscious travelers. We might even rent the Hyundai i10 again in the future, as its affordability and fuel economy make it a strong choice for economical trips.
