Worst experience ever... I have no information in the airport how to get the bus to the BSI Bus Station. The FlyBus company have few bus leaving the airport by night, the time we arrived. So I have to pay A LOT to take a taxi to BSI Terminal. The car was there in the bus station but I´m not able to get it because I must to download the Tesla app but I received NONE instructions beforehand. And the app is avaiable ONLY in icelandic phone numbers. I made a reservation from Brazil. Poor, very poor instructions. And nobody answered the phone that I had in my voucher. Waste of money and time. We leave the car locked there and take another taxi to the hotel. Never again.

Hello We strongly DO NOT recommend renting a 4X4 from FARA in Iceland. We have only had problems and fraudulent practices from this agency. The wait at the airport to pick us up and bring us to in the garage is long. Only one person to do the registration and the papers for more than half an hour, without seeing the rented car. We had 2 people in front of us. After having done the paperwork by taking the most complete and most expensive Premium insurance and having paid, we are offered a jeep with smooth tires: refusal on our part, then a jeep with a big impact on the windshield: refusal . Finally, we are offered another jeep. We leave, the car does not exceed 60km / hour. Call from the agency asking us to bring her back the next morning. The agency admits the car has a problem. He offers us another jeep, but we have to change the tires and change the oil, hence a wait of more than 2 hours. The papers are redone with the invoicing of the gasoline for the 40 kms done the day before with a car that did not work!!!! During the stay, a tire punctured: no spare wheel!!!! Premium insurance does not cover tires or repairs !!!! Repair by a garage indicated by the agency, which comes without spare wheel or tow truck, impossible to seal the tire. He returns two hours later with a tow truck: cost of the operation 2 repairs!!! The car is taken to a garage indicated by the agency to change the tire. The flat tire was mounted upside down! which could explain that it is punctured. Late in the evening, the garage says that they have to change the 2 tires because the Icelandic legislation requires that the 2 front tires be identical. We ask to change only one tire and that the garage asks the agreement of the agency the next morning for the support of the 2nd tire. The next morning, the 2 tires were changed. Impossible to leave if we do not adjust the 2 tires, but the garage assures us that the agency will reimburse us for the 2nd tire. FARA refuses reimbursement for the 2nd tire. This agency is unreliable, has fraudulent methods and abuses tourists. TO FLEE

Terrible experience and will not rent from you again. I was charged $200 for something that I did not damage and that was on top of $800 of rental for 5 days. The monsters at MYCAR seem to know very well that I can ask VISA credit card company to reimburse me - and of course their vehicle is fully covered by insurance.

Hello, apparently you "upgraded" the rental we had with lava car rental (so they told us). It was, in every aspect, a downgrade. We booked a Transporter campervan and ended up with a Crafter campervan. It was bigger so used more gas and was harder to druve on dirtroads. But more importantly, it had smallers beds than the Transporter. The crafter we got had two 160 cm beds. I'm 1m95. I barely slept during this trip. I won't go any longer here, I'll post a more in depth review later. But yeah fuck this company and fuck the "upgrades". I'm putting 1 everywhere below as the way the score is calculated does NOT reflect our experience with the car. Iceland was amazing tho.

Hello. My name is Daniel and I rented a car with this company (Jeep Renegade) I PAID to take it outside the established hours. I call to be picked up at Kefkavik airport and they don't pick up the phone and I get an answering machine. After calling a dozen times, we decided to go to the Hotel the 5 people with the cost of traveling to Reykjavík, where we were staying that night. The next day I call during office hours and now they pick up the phone and tell me that they will compensate me financially for what happened because of the company. With the rental, I contract the PREMIUM insurance (includes everything), the car suffers a breakdown, I call and they tell me to take care of it and then they will pay me (because I am 700km from Keflavik). I arrive and return it and they tell me that everything is fine. And they tell me that to receive the compensation they will contact me. No one has sent me an email, nor has anyone called me. I recommend not contracting with this company, they are very unserious and deceive you. In a serious and honorable country like Iceland, these companies give a very bad image.

Everything was fine until very strong winds ripped the door from both of my friend’s hands and we were charged $5,000 USD FOR SOMETHING THAT WE HAD NO CONTROL OVER. We did everything that we were told to do and it still happened . $5,000 for door damage is a COMPLETE SCAM, AS IS THE “INSURANCE” YOU CON PEOPLE INTO BUYING and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hi, the car was very old, with a lot of kilometres and more than 26 damages on the car and windshield. We had some warnings who have been turned on many times, which has scared us. We have been forced to purchase extremely expensive insurance. I'm very disappointed regarding our experience. We have wait for 1 hour to have the shuttle to go to the airport. We are not happy at all regarding our renting, it's unacceptable to paid 700 euros for a week for this kind of car and customer experience !

The car had many problems! Lights on the dashboard came on and stayed on, the doors wouldn’t lock, and it switched out of 4 wheel drive and the 2WD light appeared on the dashboard which made driving VERY difficult. Basically, it was the worst rental car I have ever had. Also, the windshield fluid never worked. I believe I should get a refund!!!

Hello, When we arrived, our plane was 1 hour late. Not seeing the "My Car" agent arrived, I called him after half an hour. He arrived 25 minutes later. He believed that our flight had been canceled!!!.. Luckily I called him because we wouldn't have had a car. For the departure. We have a reserved shuttle at 4 a.m. Given the weather conditions and the closed roads, we left home earlier. We arrived at 11:30 p.m. in front of the hotel, thinking that given the particular conditions, the agent could take us to the airport earlier. He replied that we had to either take a taxi or wait in the car. because the hotel is closed... It is 1:12 a.m. and my partner, I and our children are in front of the hotel, in the car waiting, in the cold. So no, this experience is not at all conclusive!!!

Terrible experience!!! A representative of LAVA car rental supposed to waiting for me at the airport with my name sign. At the time of the booking I had provided my flight number and landing time. In reality nothing from above happened, no one was at the airport. I waited 20 min. and give the rental company a call, they said that I need to wait another 15 min. After that given time I rang them again and they said to wait another 15 min. After 20 min I tried to call one more time and no one pick up this time and machine answering come in place. I definitely thought that this a scam!! I’m spending already 1 1/2 hours at airport after my plane was landed, eventually someone with sign LAVA come to airport and I started asking questions. The

Renting a car with "MyCar Rental" was the only bad experience we had in our travel around Iceland. After arriving from Airport to the renting house and ones we had the keys of the car, we realised that the car had the front window almost broken with a fairly large slit. We had to discuss it for about an hour until we got another car. We had made the reservation almost two months in advance, enough time for them to have the car in perfect condition. It is known that in Iceland, due to the roads and the climate, there is a high risk of glass breakage and we had no intention of taking risks.

Avoid at all costs!!! Terrible experience! We rent a Dacia Duster, the car condition was miserable >200000km. The driving experience really difficult. Headlights blurry, steering, brakes, gear box, everything in really bad condition. Believe me this isnt something you want on icelandic roads. As this wasn’t enough we had an accident. We ran into a sheep which was trying to cross the road. It was dark and we show it at the last second. The sheep survived, our car didn’t. We had to call the car rental service. They told us to go to the nearest garage and have the car checked. They told us we would pay for the service and the we would receive a refund from the car rental company. We went to the garage, the people there were really friendly and helpful. Because of a problem with the left light (broken because of the collision and thus nomore waterproof) we had to change cars. We paid at the garage (120€) and made our way to the car rental company. The guys an the garage told as the same thing, that we would get a refund from the car rental company. As we arrived at the car rental we were far from welcomed. The guy who took care of the car exchange was far from friendly. When we told him that we would like our refund he refused rudely to give us the money we paid for the service and didn’t want to discuss about it. I told him that on the telephone his co-worker told me that we would get a refund and he answered with a rude tone “i won’t give you any money back”!!! We didn’t make a scene because we had already lost a lot of time and wanted to go on with our trip. We paid the for the car damage( thank god we had the silver insurance package and paid only 730€, there were other couples with no insurance who had to pay 3000€ und 3500€) Another point that we were told that we would shortly receive a detailed description of the damage and the repair costs. Should the costs be less than 730€, then we would get a refund. I can tell you that today 1 month after our trip we haven't received anything. I contacted them and asked for the car repair bill and they told me that they don't normally send the bill and anyway the car isn’t yet repaired. ( i think 1 month for such a small damage is too long especially for a car rental company which needs its cars rolling) Nevertheless the choice of the car rental company is free. I would personally never book with them again as they try to make as much money as they can from you, and unfortunately this isn’t because they offer top service. The exact opposite!! We had the best time in Iceland, we would totally go again. The only black spot was the car rental.. Make your decision responsibly!

We were charged 900 euros for a little dent on rear right port. Ridiculous! A dent of approx 5 mm, 0,5 cm. We paid the cost of the entire port! Absolutely terrible, a real theft!

terrible the car was 200.000 km old !!!! i think it we the oder rental car ever seen the cross lights were not functional it uses 10l/100km for such a small car not very good to protect the planet the driver door didn’t close correctly so i had to fix it manually with tools when i think that it cost me more than 500€ i prefere to forget

It's a good car. IceRental4x4 needs to do a better job of maintaining their vehicles. A couple things we found were: 1. tires were too worn out 2. windshield wiper blades were worn out 3. keyless fob were low on batter 4. vehicle was rusted in the front 5. front lights were not clear

It was a really bad experience, they give to us a 6 person motorhome when we are only two person, because they say that IT was the unique avaible and we don't want it. Furtheremore they give to us two bottle gas almost empty when We pay for 1 full bottle gas, and they said that they don't Have It a full one. In addition, at first they give to us two bottle gas more empty than two last ones and we Have to ask for the New ones, so IT was a desaster at all.

The car had the check engine light on the whole trip and sometimes wouldn't start, the last day of our trip it died and we almost missed our flight. Not a good experience at all.

hi i ordered a fou rwheel drive car with winter tires and the car had slick summer tires i asked to get a car with winter or almost all weather tires and i got an old duster with 160 000 km , a door who had wind dammage and not repared, rear brakes who should have been changed (very noisy on braking) and cardans who made great noise and no refund as the car was priced cheaper than the one i initially choose in summary very bad experience with this company.... i will never rent again with them and am disappointed that you propose this rental company i had always good rentals with you regards yves

That was disgusting experience! I was really dissapointed The Car was 2014, but that does not mean that this car should be like just after a shooting in criminal area: a lot of damages: front, number, cup of gas tank, left side was like after a shooting dirty salon, driving this car was extremely uncomfortable, probably there is a problems with wheels, car always moved a little bit left or right even without a wind... dirty main window and that is never cleaned. the box under my right hand was opening every time when the car go a little bit up, or when I slooooowly press a break that about a car.. about a service. I waited 40 mins while just one receptionist starts to work with me Me and my wife have a special credit card with big limit to make a deposits on her name. This receptionist told me, that I can't use this card to left a deposit, and this is the law! But I had a conversation with a layer in Iceland, and there is no this law! receptionist overcharged me 48 eur for change a booking and make my wife a main driver, and add me like an additional That is very very bad service! me and my wife have the same surname, WE BOTH WERE THERE WHEN I PICKED UP this car, and the company charged me 48 eur. I demand to refund this amount! because this is an extortion

Nordic Rental is a SCAM ARTIST and there should be a criminal investigation! I watched several couples get the same treatment. One honeymoon couple was in tears!!! My experience was terrible. Wrong car, wrong equipment, had to put $3700 deposit or forced to take $50 per day add on insurance. My car broke down. NO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE!!!! Never deal with these scumbags!!! Terrible Terrible Terrible I currently am disputing my rental charge because I returned the broke down vehicle within 5 hours of renting it. I want my money back!!! I only kept the Ford transit for 5 hours and it was broken down on the side of the road for 3 of the 5 hours. One hour driving to Rek and 3 hours waiting for Nordic to call back and 1 hour to find the REK Nordic Office and return the junker to its owner!!! 5 hour rental $2000

Wild campers is a rip off car rental agency! I would never ever rent a car in this agency again. In their voucher it was stated that the payment can be done either with credit card or debit card and that the cash is also accepted. When I came to pick up a car they said that I can pay with debit card, but I need a credit card as insurance any way. There were two other costumers at the office at that time with the same problem. Their response was, that possesion of a credit card is stated in their policy which is correct, but the fact that they specificaly write the (bolded) statement that the payment can be done with debit card is extremely missleading. Well, because I wasn t able to rent a car without credit card, they "force" me to buy some useless platinuim insurance which cost 50€ per day. So the car didn t cost me 540€, it cost me 800€. Other costumers had similar bad experience. The staff is rude and useless. They don t pick up their phones and don t answer their e mails. Their sleeping kit which cost 40€ per person is a disaster and a complete rip off. It is not consisted out off normal blanket with cover but a very thin cheap (it was free version from qatar airlines) blanket without cover. If we wouldn t have overnight heater we wouldn t be able to spleep in a camper. The car by it self wasn t so bad, except the roof whick was leaking water during rain. I advise you, to stop cooperating with wild campers or force them to changer their policy or at least check your supliers before cooperating with them. It was a very bad experience for us and companies like that gives a bitter taste to otherwise beautiful country. Regards

I booked the car for the F-roads only to find out from the provider that the insurance doesn't cover even the road 35. The car was given to me with no gas and I wasn't sure if I'll make it into the nearest gas station. And during return I nearly missed my flight because at the drop off point they prioritized new bookings over drop offs. I waited 50 minutes for the drop off. I feel cheated, cause your website had good ratings, while the actual rental company is terrible. Never again.

Very bad experience. We had to wait an additional day for the camper, they obliged us to be at 5 am the day after to get the camper (they didn't accept to keep it for us until midday) and the camper didn't have a heater system, as it was booked.

Terrible customer service, and they try to get as much money out of me as possible. The van was fine, but for what I paid in the end, I could have rented another from another company. I was forced to pay the full insurance € 700 and a cleaning fee, since they said that I had smoked in the car, of € 300. I feel cheated, and so I will let it be known in all the places that I can publish it.
