great booking experience

The car was globally OK and Ring's services too. The only BUT SIGNIFICANT problem was tyres: - They were worn enough => Review their conditions before checking in (including safety wheel + repair kit : they were both OK for us) - Adopt a low tyre pressure: after 2 punctures on F roads in 3 days, we were helped by rangers -> They said the tyres condition was unsufficient for these roads + we must deflate the tyre pressure from 2.5 to 2.1. After that, no more flat tyres, thnak to them! This put aside, we had very nice services and a wonderful trip - just don't forget warm clothes ;-)

Everything went great. The car was just perfect. We had a great time.

My overall rental exp was great. Learned abt Northbound from a youtube travel blogger and it was super helpful. I liked 1) the ability to filter by car features. For iceland we were looking for 4 wheel driving that’s permitted for f roads. I checked out all other major rental car companies it wasnt as easy to filter but on northbound it even showed sub category of F roads (regular and with water), it was so helpful and saved me time 2) i also like how it aggregated all options from different companies. Easy one strop shop for me My exp with the final rental company Ring was good too!

The Ring employee was a hour and a half late for our pick up time. We accidentally rented a manual car instead of automatic which was our fault, we didn’t think to look and we can’t drive manual. So I asked for a different car and they said they didn’t have one so I asked for a refund and they said they don’t do refunds. I hadn’t even gotten into the car and they weren’t going to refund me. So they found me another car to take but it wasn’t a 4x4. We still made it work. An hour into driving it all the check engine lights came on including the break light. I tried to call but no one was answering my phone calls. The number actually said out of service. At the end of the day, everything was fine, we drove the car with the engine light on and our trip was beautiful . But it was very stressful.

Booking via Northbound worked without any problem! However, we would NOT recommend Ring Rental! We booked a Dacia Duster 2023, but we got an older model (which actually was offered for a lower price). We got the price difference refunded after requesting it when returning. As far as we have seen, the same happened to a number of other persons as well. The car itself was in a questionable condition. Breaks, turbo of the engine, the ventilation and windscreen wipers did not work as they should. In addition, it was documented that we got it with 8/8 fuel, but it was just 6/8 full. It is the first time that I write such a review, since I was very disappointed about the business practice of Ring Rental, after I have chosen this company based on the good reviews on Google. In my opinion it is not fair to the customers, who spend quite some money for renting a car in Iceland. I have no experience with any other rental company in Iceland, but our experience from driving 16 days in Iceland is that 95% of the rental cars we have seen were in a better condition as the one we got from Ring Rental.

Windscreen with a crack, the car had already done more than 200000 km, shock absorber ;) very kind staff!

Had a great rental experience! The car was as described when I selected it, the coverages were walked through very well upon pickup and then I got a lot of good tips on driving in Iceland and how to avoid some common mistakes tourists make with parking tickets. Very good!
