The Jeep Compass preformed beautifully as we traveled in Icelands. I was especially happy to have it when we went into the Westfjords. It handled the dirt roads, steep inclines and descents beautifully. The staff there during drop off was wonderful. The staff when we picked up not so much. I also was disappointed by having to pay $600.00 for a small scratch on the door. This was so light I did not see it until inspection. I have no idea how it happened. Why I am disappointed is that it could probably have been buffed out it was so light. I also highly doubt that the $600 I paid to have it fixed will actually be used to fix the scratch. I say this because there was damage on the vehicle that I am sure was paid for yet never fixed. Perhaps this is how all rental companies do business? It simply does not seem ethical to me. The car was clean and in good working condition.

Not the car we ordered (Jeep with less space than Subaru) Good help from Fara and the police-officers when of Vestmannayaer when we left our keys inside the locked car (how is that possible in 2021???)

L'auto è un po' datata ma confortevole, unico problema impossibile connettere il telefono al sistema audio, nè via bluetooth nè via cavo (abbiamo provato con android ed iphone).

We enjoyed using the services of Fara. The customer service, including pick-up and drop-off at he airport were very good. The car was not new, but price-quality ratio was OK. It was big enough for our family of five and no problem to store all luggage. Next time, I will use their service again.

The car wasn't great, it was quite different in terms of what it looked like versus what we received for hire. The car was covered in dents and rust as well as it not being very robust. I opened the door for entry and a wind blew the door back which resulted in me receiving a £1,900 invoice for damage. The hire was only £400 for the week, my holiday in total was £2,000!

I was never able to really try this vehicle since the front light was burnt out. However, the staff was very helpful in finding a solution and giving me an upgrade to a Volvo as well as the refund for the bulbs that I bought to try to replace.

The services offered by Fara Touring vehicles was decent, with airport pickup available within 15mins of a call and as early as 5am. Vehicle condition was very good as well. However, I am actually in the process of sorting out a damage claim by Fara as the right mirror was broken. It appears that the Premium Insurance Package that I have chosen was still not enough to cover this, although I was under the impression that this would reduce my excess liability to 0. The company is now charging me 162,000 ISK for a complete right mirror housing, which seems excessive.

The car was as described on northbound but if you check Fara's website, they show a very different variant of the Jeep. DO NOT go by those pictures since this is a basic model of the car itself and not the one shown on Fara's website. The pickup person at the airport was not present at the receiving area and we had to call to find out that someone would be there to pick us up. Luckily we had a working cell phone to contact them when we landed. Last but not the least, there is a surcharge fee of 2-5% for paying with a credit card. This will not be disclosed to you until you reach their office and start the paperwork. I didn't mind the fee itself but this is something that should be clearly mentioned in the rental voucher or agreement while booking. The agent told me this was a 'standard' practice across Iceland but i find it hard to believe that there is a separate surcharge for using a credit card everywhere in Iceland. Northbound on the other hand was an excellent service provider, with very attentive customer service and an awesome price match guarantee that let me lower the booking price when i noticed that the price had gone down.

It was ok, but a missing plastic underbody (I lost it when I crossed a river) was too expensive. I had to pay 362 € - in my country is 150 €. And I missed a beep sound when reversing.

When traveling to another country there are times when things do not always go as planned. Keeping that in mind, there are things that could have gone better, but all in all everything turned out all right. The price was good and they had a vehicle large enough to fit our party of 9 which was great. I'm not sure if we arrived too early for the pickup shuttle (even though we had sent that info over way in advance) and so had to wait a bit for the pickup shuttle to arrive to the airport to bring the drivers to the rental office. Our vehicle was acting up when we started to drive off (would not accelerate) so we had to bring the car back but they managed to fix it. I think the whole pick up process took longer than what we were used to (luckily we had planned for any delay). Also be sure to take a picture of the gas and Ad blue tank in the start of rental (as they accidentally charged us for half tank of Ad Blue when we only had started off with half tank, but they refunded it once I showed the picture of it). Also they said they would place an ice scraper in the car, but there was none (used a broom from home rental instead). The car also needed a new headlight replacement and a check engine light during the second day so we had to spend the morning at the auto garage getting that fixed. We declined insurance as it was included in my chase reserve card, so when we got the inevitable pebble thrown at our windshield we paid FARA and then filed a claim with chase reserve. FARA was very very helpful and patient getting the necessary documents even though the insurance claim process was very drawn out. For a smaller auto rental company they were able to accommodate our unique car request and help us with our insurance claim/ car issues. Things happen so it is better to be prepared .

it was good. The car was good, except for few things like back camera was not working at times and few other small issues. Given the scenario in Iceland, I guess whatever we got was a good one.

It was a good experience using northbound to rent our vehicle from Fara. There was some delay with picking up due to it being busy at the office, but we had no problems returning. The car drove well but the backup camera and bluetooth connection were not working. Overall it got the job done and we can't complain, we got to see lots of your lovely country!

Unfortunately the car developed a dangerous fault (the engine just stopped whist driving along roads) and we had to return it. Fara were very good about replacing it and their customer service is excellent. Whilst we had it, it was a convenient, albeit rather elderly car - but it is advertised as a 2006 and so we knew what we were getting

We had to wait one hour to be picked up, so that was not a good start to the car rental experience, nor the holiday. The 4x4 car was great, stuck to the road like glue, and believe you me, that was necessary. Loads of cars in the ditch, but we cruised past.
