Was dissapointed as because i dont use credit cards i had to purchase extra insurance which cost about 60 pound more than i was orignally quoted for the car

Fine car and safe. Doors didn't closed very well, wind came through and tailgate sometimes opened spontaneously. The windscreen wipers, front- and back window, needed to be replaced, didn't work properly. Service was ok. When we picked up the car it was rather odd we didn't got any explanation of the car at all. Here is the key and do you ride... Returning the car was fine and friendly.

Everything about renting with Northern Lights was great. The car was exactly as described and the people were very helpful. The only thing that could be improved is that the check-in and check-out process took a very long time because they only had 1 person working at the time.

The rental pick-up and return process was very smooth - it made all the difference in how quickly we could be on our way as well as back to the airport when we returned the car. The rental agents were very good at explaining driving rules (safety) as well as insurance options.

The car was clean inside, and ran well, no difficulties with the rental process; booking, recieving and returning the car. However I had some general concerns about the service: - the website was unclear regarding the deposit required. The first time I saw mention of a deposit was after we had booked the car and it was part of the information attached to the confirmation email. - similarly it was unclear whether I had to pay a deposit when taking out insurance. I had to email the company to explain this. - the driver that picked us up from the airport (he explained he was new) didn't know all the companies he was collecting customers for.. we had to wait over an hour at the airport for him to return (a second time) when I had to point out to him that "Northbound" was on his sign. -the free GPS was impossible to use. Having been notified that we would have a GPS I opted against renting the in-car WiFi. We then had to rely on Google maps offline for directions which was hugely frustrating. - the tyre pressure light (which I was unfamiliar with) was orange when we received the car, which was worrying, especially not knowing the symbol. no one explained that this can be a result of studded tyres. - I couldn't decipher what language the car manual was in, let alone what it said. - the exterior of the car was not clean, there were numerous dents and scratches visible and the back light cover was broken - we were not offered a chance to see the vehicle before signing the contract Recommendations: - offering customers the chance to view the car and have a walk through before signing the contract. This will also give them time to think of questions before they leave. -pre setting popular tourist destinations into the GPS for renters. This would be both helpful and practical and would be additional bonus to the service. - having a manual (hard copy or PDF) available in different languages. This can support the care of the car. - showing the renter how to switch the car to 4x4 mode and explain when it is appropriate to use it (for those who have never driven 4x4) - providing information about the different gas stations and explaining about prepay cards (especially for N1). Also the importance of keeping the car as full as possible because of the distance between gas stations in certain parts of the country.

Outstanding!
I went to Iceland with a group of friends on February and we choose a Suzuki Vitara as our car. I really liked the car, which was very nice to drive and provided us a great trip. The shuttle offered by Northern Light was punctual and everything went right. I though the price of the car was strongly worthwhile and I would recommend both the car and the company.

It was very good car for us.We also was in snowstorm first evening when we drive to akureyri. Lava car rental was really good they have good service and they arranges for us transport from airport and to airport.

We were meet at the airport and taken to the car rental place promptly. After signing the necessary documents we were on our way. Staff were friendly and polite and I am glad we had snow tyres! The Dacia was clean and had ample enough room for 3 people with their luggage.

Excellent
The car handled very well and seemed to do well in the snow. I would recommend making sure there is a snow/ice scraper in the car, though. The WiFi unit was a great thing! The customer service was excellent with both pick up and drop off.

Good
The car was clean, both outside and inside, and ready to go when we arrived. The model is ok, just what we expected. But there were problems with the driver's window. It would not close automatically unless you pushed it manually. Also few times, on the road, we experienced a failure signal telling us there was something wrong with cruise control and automatic brake radar. The owner's manual says it should be inspected. We called it in when returning the car. All in all our Suzuki seemed to be heavily used already.

Hi Thordis, It was great thanks, car was fine and fit for the job. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only criticism, when we arrived at the airport after dark there was no one waiting in arrivals for us and the other clients of yours, no information, no boards, nothing. Not easy for foreign travelers arriving for first time in the evening. But we sorted it by finding a phone number and calling your office.

Pickup: nobody was there and there are a lot of companies with similar names so this was quite confusing. After waiting 10 minutes the driver arrived. Too many people crammed into the pickup bus (4 on the back seat instead of 3, 4 on the front seat including driver. Check in was fine. We received an 'upgrade' but later found out our upgrade was not a 4x4? Car was dirty, on the outside as well as inside (trunk). Lots of scratches. Tank was not completely full (80% full). We drove to the nearest tankstation to fill it up and clean it. when we returned the car they tried to blame one of the existing scratches on us, luckily we had made pictures of all the damages beforehand. Would not recommend :-(

Dear Guido, Thank you for this review. We would like to point out that it is written on the voucher that our shuttle goes back and forth between our office and airport to pick up our customers. We provided you with an upgrade and it was a 4x4 vehicle as booked. We do apologise if the vehicle was not clean like we take pride in. We would also like to point out that we did not blame for existing damage, but did ask for photos as there was a scratch that had been missed on the damage report signed by us and the renter. Everything went nice and quick. The only weak point are the unfortunately worn windscreen wipers. You often need them in Iceland. It would also be very nice to get some tips before about driving on snow, ice or through storms in winter. Take pictures from all damages so you can show them after the trip, the company is fine after seeing the pictures even if they didn't appear in the damage protocol before.

I think it was excellent! The right front light didn’t work when we picked up the car, but in 5 minutes the guy had already fixed the light for us - amazing service! We had no problems with the car at all, a really good experience! We would for sure choose Nortbound and Northern Lights again ;)
