I really enjoyed my experience with lava car rental. We received a free upgrade to a new and bigger model of the suv and it was perfect for our week long trip around Iceland! Super clean and easy to drive on the challenging roads in winter

Service was great, took a bit getting used to a hybrid, but the car was excellent on ice and snow. Note that Ring does not have a desk at the airport but has a ~10 minute transfer to their office. Not a problem either coming or going. Office rep was great.

Northbound was such a great and easy to use tool to find exactly the car we wanted for our trip! Lotus car rental was so easy and friendly, and convenient!

I was pleased with the price AND performance of the car; I took care of it and it got me in and out of Isafjordur during 2 separate blizzards. At the return, the Lotus representative inspected the car, found everything good and shuttled me to the terminal very soon after. Quality car, people and deal. Everything was smooth and car was great. We had to modify the reservation before our trip and lava was prompt about fixing it. Car was in great condition, comfortable, and drove well. We drove it through pretty much every weather condition

Everything went smoothly with our rental. We paid for the full insurance package for this trip. Unfortunately a stone chipped and cracked the windscreen but this was all covered by the insurance with no complications whatsoever. I would definitely recommend Northbound and Lava car rentals.

A few issues. Passenger side window was only workable from drivers door, annoying and dangerous at times given road conditions and concentration. Also the discount fob for N1 only worked once, and even at that the discount was pathetic, every other gas station was 25kr cheaper per litre even after the discount. Other than that the pickup was good.

Great experience with this company. Friendly service at pickup and even at 5 am drop off. Would highly recommend. The only thing is if you get Wi-Fi , make sure to check how to use it before leaving the lot , it was more than likely user error on our behalf that we couldn’t get it working though.

The car it self was good for te roads we drove. The ALM was really anoying on the snowy roads and I had to turn it off again every time I turned off the engine. I ordered a benzine car, but I got a hybride, I found out to late and we didn't really have time to turn around and ask for a different car. There was only a 230V charger with the car, but at most accomodations it was not long enough to reach a power point. Because of the long roads it didnt really charge on the way. We had to make a lot of tankstops because of that. The pick-up and drop off service was verry good. I even got dropped off at my hotel in stead of the airport.

The service provided by Northbound and Ring rentals was smooth and efficient. We had no hick-ups at any point in the process. Receiving the car as arranged and dropping it off was seamless, so was the two airport transfers provided by Ring as their offices are a few minutes drive from the arrival/departure terminals at the airport. The staff at Ring rentals were also friendly and most helpful with tips about driving in Iceland and places to go in winter. The Dacia Duster 4x4 is great to drive, has ample space for 2 persons plus luggage. Unfortunately some of these Dusters have a reputation for being damp on the inside in winter when it is wet and cold, the ventilation from the heater is not efficient enough to keep the windows beyond the front screen dry. I do admit, that was an outright nuisance and somewhat a hazard as there was considerably reduced sight through the right, left and rear windows. As i live in the dry parts of South Africa`s semi-desert and Savannah i will acquire a Dacia Duster on my next 4x4 purchase but will refrain using it in the wet northern parts of the planet. Thanks Northbound and Ring, job well done and we benefited from not going the route a full insurance cover as we saved ourselves money and had an incident/accident free 1500 km long ride through the beautiful southwestern part of Island.

Instead of a Hyundai Tucson we received a Toyota RAV4. Though it’s the ‘or similar’ option, afterwards we experienced it as far less comfortable. We specifically chose the Hyundai because we own one in the Netherlands. The advantage would be that we are familiar with the car, making it easier to concentrate on the driving.

Only driver was shuttled to Location. Took extra Time to go back and pick up the Party. Car was OK, Everything was as expected

The cover flap door of the tank didn't work properly. It was a two-person job to open it in order to refuel the car. It took a while to figure out this and was quite stressful and time-consuming. Midway through the rental period, a warning light "check the antipollution system" appeared. Apart from this, the car worked fine. Last but not least, I was overcharged during the payment process so I'm waiting for the staff at Go Iceland to issue a refund.

Northbound provided a GREAT experience. We booked with LAVA car rental and when we arrived were upgraded to a Mitsubishi SUV. Communication was perfect.

Pick up and drop off went very smoothly and took next to no time at all. Car ran well and got us through some of the snowy weather we experienced driving the ring road in the middle of February. I would highly recommend renting from Lotus Car via northbound. Will rent again when we return in the summer someday!
