Great car, seamless experience with Northbound and Lava Car Rental.

Fantastic car and company. Had zero issues at drop off and pick up, the team was very expedient, and the free airport shuttle was convenient and timely. The car itself was incredible. Extremely reliable, able to handle roads that are extremely rough, bumpy, pot-hole ridden, muddy, ice and snow covered. Carplay was fantastic and made everything that much better. Also, it’s a unique car, saw only 2 others on our 2 week Ring Road journey. I can’t see myself booking with anyone but Lava Car Rental moving forward.

For first timer to Iceland, the pick up point from airport could be clearer with more signage if possible. While the rest of the process from airport transfer to lava company and rental of car was extremely well. All was good, car was a new model and performed well throughout our road trip. Return of car was smooth. Would definitely recommend anyone who’s going to Iceland

The car was perfect for my trip. We got a lot of rain, and the car worked perfectly. The company Lava was very professional and friendly. The only thing I would improve would be the car's horsepower; it would facilitate if it was a bit stronger.

Great car rental service, with a nice selection of cars. I would highly recommend hiring a car to explore Iceland, it is fantastic. Lava made the process very easy with good communication and good prices. Speeding fines in Iceland is very expensive, so be warned. Highly Recommend.

Booking my rental car through Northbound made the process incredibly easy. The communication was great and the vehicle fit my needs perfectly. I wasn't sure how long it would take to go through customs so I arranged for a later pick-up time. I called Lava Car Rental when I arrived in KEF and their shuttle was already on its way. They allowed me to pick up the vehicle early at no extra charge. The staff at Lava Car Rental were so helpful. The van I chose (Renault Kangoo Camper) was compact/a little tight for two, but I was aware of this when I booked it. My friend and I wanted the most affordable campervan option. The size of the van did mean it was easier to park in downtown Reykjavik. My only complaint would be that the single-burner stove took a long time to boil water. If you are able to, I would recommend packing a backpacking stove and/or taking advantage of the kitchen amenities at hostels. I highly recommend booking your rental vehicle through Northbound!

My rental experience was pretty good. It would have been helpful to just have a brief overview of the vehicle…gas tank release, manual reverse, 4x4 operation) All of these things were foreign to me and I had to call to get assistance in how to put it in reverse.
