Car Rentals in Iceland

The car itself was great, but the service was not ideal. The car needed check-ups that should have happened prior to rental. The rear light was out, making reversing in the dark dangerous and challenging. Start-up was weak and concerning. I was not sure if the car would make it. We purchased camping kitchen gear and there was no cutting knife provided, either. This is a pretty standard tool for camping and the response we got was that we were being a bit demanding.

Perfect ! Everything went somthly, Car was in perfect condition , no issues on gravel roadsµ.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Iceland, and our camper was one of the reasons. It was very clean, and in very good conditions. Thanks to Solstice Campers for the opportunity to travel securely and comfortable!

We rented a Dacia Duster from Lotus Car Rental for one month and we were totally satisfied. Since we wanted to have a 4x4 car and we had a rather small budget, we chose to go for Lotus Car Rental as they had the best deal in terms of value for money - and we were not disappointed at all. We got a literally brand new car with only 10k km and the car was running smoothly for the entire period. Additionally we got free WiFi, just because the drop off of the car was 15 minutes late. All in all we had a great experience - the customer service was excellent, we got a brand new car and best value for money. Full recommondation for this company!

This was the most affordable camper van price we found for an automatic vehicle, which not all rental companies in Iceland carry. It was comfortable (for 2 people) and had everything we needed for our 5 days/5 nights loose itinerary with long drives. The storage underneath the bed easily fits one large duffel bag, two carry-ons and a couple more small bags/items. We liked that it was well-equipped without add-on costs like other companies that charge extra per item, so it was great to have it all included, especially the WiFi hot spot! The only thing that didn’t work was the inverter/converter charging port. Luckily I had brought my own USB charging port for mobile phones and we easily charged other batteries and devices at camp grounds. We also liked that the vehicle was unmarked with the company logo. There is no heating system for the back but we were provided with 2 sleeping bags and 6 blankets, both to cover windows and warm us up. We did not use them all every night as it was August. Communication with Solstice Campers was straightforward, they responded diligently to emails regarding logistics of pick-up and drop-off at the Reykjavik BSI Bus Station with the Flybys transfer from the airport. The only thing that was not clear is that I didn’t realize that check out process involved paying for a locker, which was fine, but was not included in the instructions they sent. We had a wonderful time driving through Iceland in this camper van, we can’t wait to come back, and would rent from them again if they keep these competitive prices.

A person of icerental wait for us un the airport past midnigth to drive us to the renthal parking. The process of geting the car was clear and fast. The best price i found checking several sites. Profesional workers and low estés. Good work Will repeat !

We had a "similar" car which was Subaru xv. Car was very nice and good. Only remarkable difference was that I rent diesel and subaru was petrol. Fuel consumption was a bit bigger. I rent also two camping mattress with car and those were quite poor. Gps, sleeping bags and cooling box was good. Service was good. Thanks :)

It was great... only thing was getting hit with the 4500 ISK fine for the tunnel. But of course there was nothing northbound could have done about that. Maybe having some specific notes about driving rules or peculiarities of driving in Iceland.

This was an okay option to use. However Thrifty was not that easy to return the car before the time that they open at 5 am. I sent them an email to confirm, but they still have not responded to verify.

The vehicle was good and the staff was friendly, however they did not offer great insurance plans.

Dear Runar, Thank you for your mail, we had a lovely time! I had a really good experience with all your colleagues I was in contact with. In the office(we even got a kitchen set and an usb transducer, what was really helpful!), and also on the hotline when our lights went out, or when we had to change our tire, due to a defect. Also the colleagues where very flexible, when we decided to lengthen the rental with one day. The tent on the car is not the best ever, when it rained and was a strong wind, the water from the material tapped in the tent and we got wet. (So the material didn’t let through the water, just sucked it in, but the wind shaked it inside, so couldn’t use the tent every day) All together we had a great journey and experience with your company. The guys we met at Nordic late at night were very friendly and most helpful. The car's windscreen wipers however were damaged to the point of being dangerous as 10 miles down the road when it rained I could hardly see where I was going at 12.30 at night. When I reported the problem at the drop off I was told that it was my job to fix it and claim for a new set of wipers when I dropped it off. I feel that it would be better if this was checked before a customer finds out too late! The car also had no rear wiper at all.

We had a Dacia Duster from 2019 which was new and relatively clean. It even managed to 'climb' rocky offroad roads and hills and was well equipped. We booked the full coverage insurance and therefore had a quick pick up. When we dropped the car off, we even got a lift back to our hotel as it was super rainy and stormy

Everything was very good. Although it was a 8-year old car, we haven't had any problem.

Sadly our experience wasn‘t the best- we had to wait and make phone calls to get the camper, there were stone damages in the front window, but no park heating as booked and no cutlery. The sleeping bags an the blankets were good. Also the car itself (driving, engine, power).

It was great! My favorite thing about it, besides the way it handled on the road, was the bright blue color - it stood out so well against the beautiful scenery. The check-in and check-put process was efficient and smooth. It took us a few extra minutes to find the shuttle driver at the airport, but after we found him the whole process was quick and efficient.

We had a great experience in Iceland with Blue Lagoon Car Rental. When arrived at the Keflavik airport (at night, 00:30 am)we didn't see anyone of the rental so we called them and in less than 5 minutes they came to pick up us. The car was equipped with all we requested, the guy at the desk clearly gave us some important information about the driving in Iceland. Before picking up the car, we were able to check and flag in a paper all the scratches, dents, cracks, missings, exc already present in the car to avoid future misunderstanding. The only flaw encountered during our trip was that the grill was unusable because of incorrect gas bottle dotation (however price of this service was not significant). We are happy to suggest Blue Lagoon to whoever wanna take a "on the road" trip in Iceland.

Our Suzuki was an excellent vehicle and it performed admirably of the F-roads!! It was well maintained and cared for. The staff at Northern Lights were quick, responsive, and easy to get in touch with. They were the first to welcome me to the country made my experience in Iceland convenient and memorable. Their prices beat the competition and they will surely provide a serious return-on-investment.

I am very satisfied with the service of star rental cars. I did hie the car for a week. The paperwork by the pick up was fast and good. I had the bad luck that there was a problem with the car on the 5th day and after calling star rental they made that i could get another car within 1 hour. I was brought to the village were i could get the other car and after 1,5 hours i was on the road again. So i can say only 1 thing: service was great which is in my opinion the most important.

Communication wasn't always as smooth with Solstice Campers, but they arranged everything the way we expected, the campervan was great, and the overall experience was amazing.

It was perfect for our requirements and had everything we needed on board. The pick up and drop off service from our hotels was fantastic with polite and helpful staff. The whole experience - booking online, collecting & dropping off van - was easy and flawless.

Was not a Dacia Logan but a Hunday I30. All was fine, the only problemwe had to wait 40 minutes before someone picked us up to pick up the car.
