Car Rentals in Iceland

Really great experience. Guys would answer my phone calls and assist me very friendly, they are forthcoming and really normal guys. No problem at all about the car - quick pickup, drop off, explained to me everything well about the Icelandic traffic regulations etc. The car was also great.

Everything went well. I think that your insurance policy must be enhanced. Too many options and some of them difficult to understand by someone that not knew Iceland and the country routes before.

The car was great, the tent idea on the roof top is super. It would be nice to have a heater for the roof tent, it was august but still some nights was cold. I like the option to go on the F roads that is great with the little Jimmy. The car runs great however it needs some alignment and balancing. The front office customer service needs some training on customer service. Nothing bad just needs improvement, the most important part of the business is the contact with the customer.

The car was old, but in perfect condition, enough space for for adults with backpacks. Can only recommend.

The car key didn’t work properly, baterry I guess.. Right car door had a big dent from another crash and after 2 days they couldn’t close properly, Right light didn’t work. My frends had 3 cars from Blue rental and they were perfect condition. 25.8. at 4:40 we came to Lava and nobody was there, at 5h came the man who came to work and was suprised that we were alone and nobody was at the desk.

We ended up switching to a manual Dacia Duster with a rooftop tent and absolutely loved it! Such a wonderful way to explore the country. Our two year old daughter loved it too!

The Suzuki Grand Vitara + Roof Tent was perfect for our needs and we did not have any issues with the car during our trip. However, our experience with Icerental 4x4 was less than ideal. The shuttle from the airport to the car rental office was 1 hour late. While we were waiting in the airport I sent an email requesting the shuttle and we were informed the shuttle arrives at the airport every 20 minutes, which was untrue and unhelpful. In addition, we were charged for wind damages to the door car in the amount of $1,126, which, while we accept responsibility for the damages, seems excessive given the damages. In addition, we purchased the additional Super Collision Damage insurance, which turned out to be useless for us as it did not cover wind damage. We are waiting for proof of repair costs and are hopeful the Icerental 4x4 will continue to be communicative, despite our less than pleasant experiences with them while in Iceland.

Car was very used but in decent conditions, fit for the trip at the best price we could find.

It was okay considering it was an older used model. Perhaps some cleaning could be improved before renting to other customers

Great car, great service. No nonsense. In and out quickly. One comment, the car was spotlessly clean but do not put wax/polish/Armorall on the floor mats, it makes them so slippery that it is a hazard.

The car was pretty good, with no problem at all, maybe in four it is a little bit small. In the description, this vehicle should have cruise contro, but i cannot be able to find it...

We were given a Toyota Yaris and the car was very good. We had no problems with the car and everything went smoothly. Excellent costumer support. If I return for sure will give you a call

The Ford Expedition proved to be a great choice: not exactly brand new, but sturdy and enough room for 6 passengers and luggage. We stopped counting the rivers we've crossed. Only room for improvement was that we were not met at the airport when we came through customs: we had to call the office and were told we had to wait some more, and only then did an agent from Icerental 4x4 arrived at the airport.

It was great. We were met promptly at airport and taken directly to the car rental site. The Kia Sportsge we rented was in great shape and perfect for my fanciful 5.

Loved the ease of the pick up.Great wee car for running about in.Nice and clean and easy to drive. Perhaps a quick point to make,probably a good idea to call the customer if the car they are renting is still on the way back from the airport.My pick up was at 10am but the car did not arrive until 1030 No big deal but you did have my number and I would have just adjusted my schedule accordingly.

Dear Nordic Campers and Wild Campers, I’m writing you because I rented a Nordic Campers camper van through the website Wild Campers, and the experience was not fulfilling. My girlfriend and I rented a Dacia Dokker with a bed and a stove, and we expected, as your website proclaimed, that the car was equipped with a heating system, to warm up the nights. as we found out, this heating system was not at all installed, and we ended up spending most nights freezing. Furthermore, as we came to pick up the car at the arranged hour, we were met with a car that first had to be prepared with curtains and a mattress, a door that could not be locked, and after driving away almost content, the car started smoking from the rear end and it would not accelerate as it should. Therefore, once more, we returned to the office in Keflavik, and were told to just drive off (from there, the car worked fine). Added up, it took us three and a half hours, from our scheduled pick-up at 10am until 1.30pm to drive away in a functioning car. As we talked to a person in a suit from the backoffice, we were met with no understanding of our wasted time. All in all, the renting of your car at Keflavik was not fulfilling, and we ask of you an offer of refund. We rented the car from the 14th of August (pick-up at 10am) and returned it on the 20th of August (hand-in at 5pm). Best regards, Rasmus Møberg Larsen & Frida Malin Mundbjerg

My experience with the booking and the info that i was sent by Northbound and Lava was first class. The car itself was pretty battered but proved to be reliable and got us to where we wanted to go. My only issue is that we took out the Platinum insurance which was probably a waste of money considering that every panel on the car was scratched and/or dented. Overall, i would consider using Lava again when i next visit Iceland.

We had an overall positive experience renting with Icerental 4x4/Northbound.is while on holiday for 4 nights in Iceland during August 2019. On arrival there was a lady waiting for us with an Icerental 4x4 card in her hand. We were taken straight away to the pick up location, approximately 10 minutes away from the airport. On arrival as there were three groups wanting to pick up their car this process did take a while, probably 15 minutes per group. We were the last group however as we were not in a hurry this was not a problem for us. The paper work for us was straight forward as we had already booked to have the full insurance cover. However there are a few things that this cover does not include, for example, damage to the chasis underneath the car, the tyres, damage to doors caused by gusts of wind. On their suggestion we took lots of photos of the car and a video prior to leaving the rental building. The car itself was an old car and had lots of dents and minor damage however we were aware of this on booking and had opted for this choice. The driver's side door did not seal properly and there was an issue with a draft being caused. However the car apart from this was comfortable and relatively clean. Drop off arrangements was also efficient and straight forward. We had no issues raised. Our lift back to the airport was made by a very pleasant young man in plenty of time for our flight.

The Dacia Duster 4x4 was ok for Iceland. It is the right car also for route F.

Great experience all around, rented a latest model Dacia duster with a roof tent. - Best prices I could find shopping around on the internet - Team will pick you up from the airport to bring you to their location close by to get the car - Car in great condition - Easy and quick process - Team will get you back to the airport after bringing the car back On and all great experience and stress free, would recommand without a doubt

It was fine. However, the steering was out of alignment and brakes need new pads. The car was not unsafe and drove well otherwise. We own a land cruiser and love it. The front, passenger side door made a loud noise when closed. Previous accident? Overall a good car.
