Car Rentals in Iceland

Very good car, adapted to what we wanted to do. We went through rochy roads and roads with +/-40cm water without any difficulty. Service on taking and returning the car was simple, quick and nice. The person at the reception asked just a few questions to ensure we made the right choice according to our needs, which was reassuring. As a suggestion : maybe it would be useful to give a map of iceland marking roads that you can use or not with each car type.

I spend 10 days in the roads of Iceland having 4000 klm with the Dacia Duster. This car is made for these roads. It is a grade car. Thank you Lava Car Rental. It was an epic and awsome experience.

Great motorhome for a family of 4!

Experience was good, no issue with customers services. Small issue with camper (leaking faucet) but we receive good support on Whataps.

Overall, great experience. Checkin was quick, drop off shuttle was timely, and our car worked perfectly.

Being my first time renting a vehicle I was quite new to the whole process. Northbound had the largest selection I could find which made it easy to compare prices. Customer service was fast and incredibly helpful when I had any issues. The rental was exactly what I required. Couldn't recommend them enough. Would definitely hire from them in the future.

camping cars was excellent. picked up at airport on time then drove short distance to pick up car which was very good condition for age. the roof tent was very good and easy to put up and down. we also got quite a few tips on route we were taking and a few pointers on places to go that I did not read about. The wifi was also a great help for navigating. I would certainly recommend them and would use again.

It worked out well for our trip. The camper was easy to drive and comfortable. There was plenty of room in the back for two adults to sleep comfortably and store our luggage. I definitely recommend getting the sleeping bags for the trip. It was colder than we were expecting it to be, and we were glad we had them. The van also came with enough cooking utensils, plates, etc.

There was a bit of a mix up when picking up the vehicle. We were given a Chrysler Aspen and they were quoting a much higher price as they did not have a record of our booking. I pulled up our Booking with Northbound on another of their computers and then was quickly rectified. The vehicle has terrible suspension, poor brakes and steering and we were told to ignore the fact that the engine service light was on, I was extremely impressed dealing with Nirthbound and the agent Thordis was top notch.

it was a ford transit diesel at the end and it was excellent.

Tent was excellent. Car - not so much! The condition of the car was quite bad with several issues. Loose belt chain so we woke up a few whole campsite with a screaming sound from then engine when it was cold. Hole in spinkler system and windscreen wiper defect. Ratteling doors and loose gearbox. No response on the mails we were told to send when we talked to customers service. We complained at the return of the car and got one days rent in refund. That was good - even though it took some discussion. We left with the impression that the handeling of customers and cars was far to busy and not thoroughly done.

The car was brand new, 5700km. There were no problems with the car.

Generally, everything was ok, but we had to wait an hour in the airport when we arrived to be picked up, i know the driver goes to the airport every 20 minutes more or less, but is difficult to see him if he doesn't move or makes visible his signal. Another thing was the car, it was great, but we paid for a diesel one, and were given a 95 fuel, wich is more expensive and has more consume of fuel. Thanks for asking.

Everything smoth and easy with friendly customer service! Suzuki Vitara was a good choice.

Solstice Campers are great value for the money. The camper is well equipped (table, stove, chairs and utensils), and it all fits into a small camper that is easy to drive. There was plenty of sleeping space and enough storage for our two small carry on bags. This camper was perfect for our needs.

We had some problems with front tyres that were in very bad conditions. The rest was Ok.

We have been given a Toyata Rav4. This was a good car to discover Iceland with. It was also nice that we got a discount at the N1 gas stations.

It was a great car for the type of roads we used, with 4 people and bags comfortably in. It’s easy to drive and reliable.

The Dacia Duster went really fine. Only in strong side winds it was a bit difficult to keep it on the road.

Great car, the only down was that tire pressure was not checked (and air pressure warning was on since the beginning of the rental). So I had to add air pressure the first day of the rental.
