Lagoon car rental were great. The car was perfect for our 2500km trip with great fuel economy. It was brilliant value for money and the I would highly recommend the wifi option. The car could possibly have been a bit cleaner inside around the doors but it is Iceland where it gets dirty straight away any way!

I had one wish and that went wrong. I didn't get the car I have booked. I was downgraded to "similar" that was not nice. All other things were great, shuttle service, customer service/people at the office, car itself, all good. And Iceland is awesome, we'll be back!

The company is ran well with great customer service. Friendly staff with a can do attitude! The time waiting on someone to pick us up at the airport to bring us to the rental was made up with the quick paperwork! We were on our way to see the beautiful country in no time!

We had a very positive experience renting with Lagoon. The truck and camper were exactly what we needed for our adventure. It was reliable and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They picked us up promptly from the airport. I appreciated that they didn't have big loud graphic logos all over the vehicle. The vehicle was in excellent shape and very clean. The staff at check-in at Lagoon, Alexandra and Sebastian were helpful. The TDI Caddy got good mileage and was quite powerful.
Unfortunately there were no Wifi Hotspot devices available at Lagoon Car Rental when I arrived. This was very disappointing, I was unable to locate any other rental locations for the Hotspot device. Lagoon Car rental directed me back to the airport to try and rent a device. However, the kiosk at the airport where devices can be rented at the Dunkin Donuts was not working. Therefore, I was without wifi during my entire trip except when I could find a wifi spot at a cafe or gas station. I highly recommend that you emphasize that wifi devices should be reserved in advance due to the limited availability.
Also, campgrounds were extremely crowded which detracts from the camping experience. Iceland needs to build more campgrounds with individual parking spaces with picnic tables at each site.

The folks at Northbound were great. My wife and I rented a 2017 Volkswagen Caddy Camper. The campers here are't obnoxiously painted like many of the others on the island which stick out like a sore thumb. Everyone spoke english and communicated via email promptly. Shuttle to and from the airport was great and on-time.

Wonderful! The van we rented came with everything we needed to stay warm at night, and the customer service was excellent. We had rented a 4G hotspot for our trip and due to a number of bookings on the same day it turned out that the Keflavik office had none left when we went to pick up the car. Due to the inconvenience, they gave us a GPS for the length of our trip as we needed to pick up the hotspot in their other location.

I got what I expected. Outback, diesel, allowed for F-roads, clean inside and outside. The car had few minor scratches but they all had been recorded. Had no problems with the car or service.

We had an excellent experience with Northbound. When we arrived at the rental location, we were upgraded to a Subaru Forester that worked out very well on the more moderate F roads. The agents were very friendly, and the shuttle process to/from KFL was painless. Would enthusiastically recommend Northbound to any traveler needing a good car for a reasonable price.

Northbound and Lagoon Car Rental provided us with great service at Keflavik. We were met upon exiting the arrival hall, driven to the offsite lot, and went through the rental process quickly and easily. The vehicle we got was a Kia Sorrento AWD, a higher class than we reserved, which worked out well. Plenty of legroom and luggage space. The vehicle return was also smooth and speedy, so we got to the terminal with plenty of time. We would definitely rent through Northbound and Lagoon again.

Overall it was good. The car was in good shape. The process was a little confusing when we arrived at the airport and didn't see anyone with the Lagoon sign. Also, we arrived at Lagoon when we were leaving Iceland and there was nobody at the rental facility. It ended up not being a big deal as they came back within 10 minutes and we needed to do some packing for the flight anyway, but had we actually been organized (and in a hurry) it would have been a problem.

We were worried after reading the horror stories about car rentals in Iceland. Luckily we found the reviews which lead to northbound.is and our rental through lagoon. Everything was exactly as described pick up and drop off back was smooth from Keflavik where all international flights occur. Staff were very professional and helpful glad we chose the 2017 4x4 Subaru Forester was in good shape except for prior small dings which were well marked and yes the wind can grab the doors which happened previously on this before we took possession so no worries. We didn't go anywhere off road but the car handled well in the rain and in the construction areas and lots of roads and parking into sites are gravel. Tires were good and the gps was absolutely a lifesaver with home set back to the rental which is offsite and practically all of the attractions were already preprogrammed in with the Icelandic keyboard well worth it. It even warns you about speed changes and speed cameras. Everything was explained up front clearly yes we took every insurance possible and yes there are unavoidable deductibles should stuff happen & thankfully nothing did. Watch out for other tourists who are truly awful drivers those were the only close calls. Price was quite good and competitive considering it is Iceland. Would definitely recommend and we will be back after spending time in the stunning Hofn area and park - we still have a lot of the country to see.

Lagoon Car Rental was excellent. This was the first car I have ever rented for and by my self. I had a lot of anxiety about having to deal with issues because I am not yet 25, or figuring out insurances, dealing with a dirty or bad functioning car, or having to deal with exploitive business people who would find any excuse to charge me extra upon returning the car. All of these worries were for nothing! The people were easy to work with, honest and straight forward. They seemed to be more interested in getting you a good experience than with getting your money. I was beyond pleasantly surprised and grateful. I have a lot of trust for this company and people that has come from only one interaction.

Great campervan, it was bigger inside than I had expected, plenty of space for 2 people and lots of luggage. It included curtains, the bed was easy to make up and included storage pockets on the back side windows which were great. The car was reliable, nice to drive and lagoon car rental provided a smooth transfer service to and from the airport.

Car pickup process went fine. On return, there was only one person in the office who was also the shuttle bus driver - he was very polite, but could have used some help to handle all the customers more efficiently.
The Duster performed well overall, although it did seem a little hard to get in 6th gear sometimes. Also, neither the USB port nor the cigarette lighter was able to charge my phone. There seemed to be power from both, but no charging, even though charging light was on. This was bit of problem since I did a lot of driving and needed the GPS on my phone for navigation often. Is there a difference between USA and European cars in this regard?

Really good experience with the VW Caddy Camper from Lagoon Car Rental. In the beginning, I thought that maybe the bed it's going to be small for me and my wife, because I'm relatively big, but we fitted perfectly. We were sleeping in the camper during 12 consecutive nights and everything was perfect. I would repeat without any doubt!

The car was just fine and the experience was pretty good. The person picking us up at the airport was late so that caused some confusion. After that the rental was accurate and seamless. On the return it was very hard to find Lagoon. Google did not have an accurate location so more and larger signs would help. Over all the experience was pretty good and we would rent from you again.

I had a very good experience with the rental company. The car functioned very well during the two weeks we used it, for over 1,500 kilometers. I would rent with them again.

Overall excellent. My only comment is that the option to be picked up by the shuttle was not clearly revealed in the initial voucher. An email exchange assured me that such a shuttle exists. The pick up process at the airport was a bit chaotic because of the crowds of tourists all arriving at the same time--but we called the office and the shuttle arrived shortly after. The drop-off was quick and easy and we were delivered back to the airport after only a short wait.

Lagoon was great. We had no issues returning the vehicle. They were clear about all the coverages and details with the car. They were super accommodating when we wanted to change our pickup/drop off location from the airport to downtown Reykjavík.

Because our rental car had some precheck problem we got upgraded to another car which actually suited us more , very happy

Excellent. We were referred to Lagoon Car Rental and were very pleased with them. Having read previous reviews of different companies, we were very nervous about being charged extra when we returned the car. At Lagoon they did a great job of explaining the two primary situations in which someone may be responsible for extra charges: one is in the case of a sand/windstorm which occurs in certain areas at times. By knowing which locations have the risk and checking the weather, it can be avoided. Also, the suggestion to park in the lee of a building should you find yourself in such a situation was helpful. The other problem that can arise in a very strong wind is the door actually being blown backwards crimping the metal and permanently damaging the door. By parking in the wind, this can be prevented. Both good suggestions which made us feel much more easy about renting in Iceland.

Only one thing, was confused. On some sign before crossing the river, mentioned: " Has your engine been waterproofed ?" We was not sure. And on some sign, also ask if your engine is at least 50 cm from the ground ? We also did not know. So, we pass the river by choosing shallowest place.
Could be good to mentioned about it, when we talk with your employee. Maybe I missed somewhere those info.

We were met at the airport and transported to the Lagoon Car Rental with all our luggage. We were in a party of 6. The rental process went very quickly and we were on the road within an hour. One of our vehicles was upgraded at no cost to us. It was greatly appreciated. Very nice company to work with.

During our holiday on Iceland we rented Dacia Duster in Lagoon. They provided everythng exactly as I expected - transfer from airport and back, car in good shape and very nice customer support (including free cofee and some tips on how to operate on icelandic roads :) ). I would strongly recommend Lagoon - as well as Northbond. You must know that I'm not "easy customer" - prior to holidays I've been booking and cancelling different cars and asking silly questions through emails. For them this was not a problem :) Thank you Northbound and Lagoon - you made our holiday perfect as without this car we would not see beauty of Iceland in 100% !

A week traveling around Iceland was a amazing experience! Most Iceland's beauties are accessible only by gravel roads, so Mitsubishi L200 equipped with Mountain Tent was the best choice!! Car was in TOP condition and became our home for a week! It's a comfortable
but tough car that can drive you everywhere (river crossings are in everyday schedule!!) safely! Guys from Lagoon cars keep their fleet well maintained. They were also very helpful and polite and always ready to assist! Price was competitive as well. We are very happy with Lagoon Cars. I ended up renting a Mitsubishi instead. I upgraded for a discounted price and was very happy with the car we received. It took about 15 minutes until i was picked up from the airport and when i returned the car i was immediately taken to the airport which was great.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wait at the counter when renting the car was a bit more than I expected.

I really loved that we were picked up at our accommodation in Reykjavik and taken to the rental office. The girl who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. We had a small upgrade of vehicle to a Kia Rio and everything went quickly and smoothly with the rental. We really enjoyed driving the car. I returned the vehicle at the Keflavik office, but I was very unhappy that I couldn't find the office and wasted about 30 minutes driving around looking for it! I asked three other car rental businesses where it was, and they didn't know and told me the wrong directions. Please put a Lagoon sign up on this street!! I was very stressed in getting to the airport later than I wanted to. Luckily the young man at the office was very helpful and kind and rushed me to the airport. I would definitely recommend Lagoon, but please help your customers with large signs at your Keflavik office.

The experience was a genuinely great one! There was a little mix up in the vehicle we were suppose to get but they quickly directed us to where we can see another facility they had that was close to our place where we stayed so we could swap the cars out. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and even gave us a Wi-Fi hotspot for the troubles of having to swap out the vehicle. I highly recommend using this company for their service and amazing staff.

Very good. Even though we started having problem with breaks (plate) we received help over the phone and when the break plate was blown off on our last day (Reykjavil) we had a new car within 2 hours.

The woman that rented the car to us was super great.

My only suggestions would be to print a one page handout that indicated the meaning of signs and lines found on the roads. We were able to figure out most of them, a few we never did understand. Would definitely rent from you again based upon the great service we received.

Everything was perfect. We were met at the airport within minutes of arriving, and driven the short distance to the Lagoon base. The car (4x4 Dacia Duster) was excellent, and easily accommodated the four of us plus luggage. Although we had to drop off the car for our return flight at 5.30 am, there were no problems and again we were taken to the airport with no wait at all.

We actually ended up with a Subaru Outback which turned out well! I guess it's in the same class but it was a good car.

Lagoon were good to deal with and no problems with pickup or dropoff.
Northbound service was amazing and so was the live chat and support I received. I am a photographer and had tried to get Lagoon to perhaps do a trade for photos for a discount but they never replied. Liam from Northbound however tried for me and I was very impressed.

We actually stayed an extra week and hired a camper but unfortunately the pricing and allocation wasn't as good on Northbound for that rental. However I definitely will look to you first when we visit Iceland again!

everything really uncomplicated and good service

Lagoon Car was a very good choice for our rental in Iceland! They were on time at the airport to pick us up and go to their department (just 5Min drive). All the paperstuff went fast and right ahead. The car was totally fine for what we wanted to do and the return of it also was very fast and uncomplicated. After 10Min we where done and been driven back to the airport, even if it was 5 in the morning. Thank you very much, wish you loads of future happy customers :) (we´ll be back)

We had a great experience with Lagoon. Everything was quick and efficient and the staff was friendly. The car was as described and did very well driving all around. The only challenge was the windshield wipers. They were fairly old and needed replacing, making driving on the highways in the rain a little nerve racking. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

Lagoon Car Rental is open 24/24 which was very convenient for us as our plane landed at Keflavik at midnight. We therefore could begin our car rental without waiting the morning, which was very convenient.
Our Dacia Duster 4wd was in good shape and I would recommend lagoon car rental to anyone.
Just a precision useworthy for any car rental in Iceland : make sure your credit car really is a credit and not a debit card otherwise you will have to pay for all the insurances . (Anyway, I would recommend taking all the insurances because some roads are somewhat bumpy and surprising in Iceland)

It may seem odd to write a review for a rental company, but this group absolutely made my trip! Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. They gave me game-changing travel tips and free espresso. I will 100% insist that my friends use this company because of the service I received. I already miss my campervan. At the risk of overhyping a rental car company I can say as an absolute fact that the van + tips made the trip the best of my life.

Very good renting experience. All went very well, including booking, picking up the car and returning it and paying for it. Easy, friendly, efficient. The car I got was close to the one indicated; Kia Sportage instead of Hyundai Tucson, great models both of them. The car was fresh and good and 4WD and gave me no problems at all.

Our experience with Lagoon Car Rental was excellent. They were at the airport when we arrived and took us to the offsite office. The paperwork was very upfront and they did not pressure us to purchase additional insurance that we did not want. The car was exactly what was promised to us. The pick up and drop off was very prompt. I believe the gentleman that helped us was Sebastian and we was extremely helpful with all our questions. We loved our caddy camper. The bed, duvets, and pillows were especially comfortable. The side pockets great for organizing gear, and there was just enough space for our cooler, chairs, table, two duffels, and daypacks. The tent was a welcome kitchen when it was drippy and windy. However, the promised stakes were not included, and we had to take it down at 3AM one morning when high winds blew the table and chairs down that had been holding it in place. It was also very easy to drive.

Great experience - excellent service. We even had a broken (flat) and they were quickly their to help. Our rental was for five - we used it in the city and to tour the Golden Circle. The rental is a quick 3 minutes off-site and they are at the airport to pick you up.

Lagoon is a very good car rental service. People where very helpfull. No problem to keep the car some hours longer. Also had to choice in color of the car we got. Costumer service was fast to reply to emails i send. Airport transfer without a problem.

Overall, excellent. Although the wait at KEF was about 20 min, everything else worked out very well. Great car with a/c and backup camera. Excellent mileage although I did not get the discount on the diesel fuel. The GPS was priced very high.

The service was excellent, we had the pleasure to be upgraded on our journey, which really made our trip easier, safer and more confortable. The fact that the team is working around the clock is a great feature too.
We only had some wait at the airport when we arrived, so I guess my only advice would be to send an automatic reply when the service is a bit busy, just to reassure the client waiting at the Arrival Hall.

The truck ran great and handled the roads well... The tent was awesome! It handled the wind well, definitely exceeded my expectations! My only suggestion is to somehow waterproof the mattress, it was wet a few nights from the rain being blown in from the bottom and sides

Arrived early in the morning to a rainy and gloomy welcome c/o mother nature. However, agent from Lagoon car rental was super pleasant and happy and provided amazing service to rental location. There were quite a number of us but the friendly agent at Lagoon helped me get setup with the car very quickly. Car was clean and in great condition. From exiting the airport to driving off in the rental took less than 30 minutes! Amazing service. Returning the car was a breeze as well. A different Lagoon agent got all the return paper work sorted out in minutes and gave me a ride to the airport withing 10 minutes of arriving at Lagoon. Awesome experience and would 100% use them and recommend them to anyone!

I had a great experience with Lagoon Car Rental. The staff was friendly and was efficient. We spent a total of 20 min in the office from the point of car pick up to car drop off. The free transport to and from the airport was very conivient.

Lagoon Car rental was amazing! We rented a Hyundai and set off. The windshield wipers didn't work properly so we turned around and went back. They gave us a Kia, and threw in our cooler for free. The car was fantastic. We also rented the internet with the car which I highly recommend. (we were always able to get directions- even when hiking!) . At the end of our trip the gas tank stopped opening. We went back with a half tank of gas rather than the expected full tank. They didn't charge us anything extra. Their customer service was the best!

My girlfriend and I travelled to Iceland in early May. Our experience with Lagoon Car Rental was excellent. Right when we came to the arrival hall a representative was there to greet us immediately. Filling out the paperwork did not take long at all, and we were upgraded to a Kia Sportage for free. The car was excellent, we travelled over 1600 miles throughout Iceland without any concerns at all about the reliability of the vehicle. Lagoon Car Rental also provided us with a fuel chip and a map of where all the Olis gas stations were located for free, which was very helpful and a nice touch. At the end of our trip, returning the car did not take long at all and shortly after checkout a shuttle took us back to the airport. We hope to return to Iceland someday and if we do, we will definitely use Lagoon Car Rental again! Booking through Northbound was a very easy process as well, and it was more convenient for us since they accept more credit cards.

It was as good as it supposed to be. 4X4 worked although haven't used a lot in highland F roads. Fuel consumption was pretty good thanks to the tempomat.

The service that we received from these guys was excellent. I phoned a couple of times with queries prior to booking and they were very clear and helpful on the phone. They met us at the airport and drove us a small distance to collect the car. I was really glad that we chose a 4x4 as we did encounter some weather out there and felt appropriately prepared with the choice of vehicle. Although it says the Dacia Duster is an older model I am really missing it now that I have returned home to my old Golf. Be prepared to look like a tourist though as this seems to be the tourist car of choice. I would definitely hire from them again.

Having rented the Dacia Duster for 7days from Northbound, i was pleasantly surprised by the capabilities of the car in its ability to address the f-roads in the change between the winter and spring time weather. For a family of 4 this was a very comfy car for the price levels and would recommend this car, as well as Northbound as a provider of this service.

The experience was great. We only missed the pickup shuttle at KEV because that lobby gets chaotic and some other group jumped ahead of us while we were waiting on the side. The car rental people were very friendly, though. The car was in great condition and give us no trouble at all. The return went smoothly. Great experience overall. Northbound offered some of the best prices but also the clearest website. Other sites were unclear about what car exactly we would be getting or how much luggage it would hold.

Lagoon rental car was a great place to rent a car. The price was the cheapest that I could find, and we received excellent customer service. When we delivered the car back we got a ride back to our hotel. Really nice. Would recommend others to rent a car here.

It was great experience with lagoon car rental, process is smooth however half with through the journey we discover that low engine oil level got us nervous, and during that period of time it was Esther sunday most of the repair shops are not open, lucky the car did not break down on us :)

We rented a car through Lagoon Car Rental (on the Northbound site) for a 9 day winter road trip around Iceland. Our experience was great and flawless from pickup to return. The Lagoon Car Rental staff were very friendly and helpful, and even provided a complimentary shuttle service to/from the Keflavík airport. By booking an older car model we were able to save some money, without compromising on comfort (Dacia Duster 4WD) -- highly recommend!

We had a great experience with Lagoon Car Rental. They were there to pick us up at the airport on time, although 12 other groups arrived at the same time so we did have to wait around half an hour but they made sure we knew what was going on and organised it well so someone from each group could get to the office to start the rental process. Its an 8 minute drive from the airport (warm office with free coffee) and enough staff that we were seen to almost instantly. The guys there speak great English and explained the rental process well. You check your car, sign on the dotted line and you're off. The car we had was great, we had no issues with it during our trip or returning. We dropped the car off at 3am and were at the airport at 3:30. I highly recommend this Lagoon Car Rental, not only for their great prices but for their service too.

Great experience, everything went smoothly despite our flight being delayed! We got picked up by an airport shuttle that drove us about five minutes to the rental car place. Everyone there was super friendly; they even gave us a paper that listed important websites such as weather and road conditions for Iceland. We got a tiny car but it worked beautifully, had no issues at all. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

Everything went smoothly and as expected with our rental and the company was very responsive when I had to change the pick up times a couple different times.

We hired Dacia Duster from Lagoon Car Rental and we were satisfied about everything we got. The guy in rental office explained everything we need to know about car, fuel and insurance.
My only complaint is that there was nobody to meet us in the airport as their office is not there, but quick call and the guy came to pick us in 5 minutes, so that was really not a problem. Overall we are satisfied!

Ich habe ueber Northbound einen Mietwagen gebucht - Dacia Duster 2017 4x4, F-Road erlaubt (Lagoon Car Rental). Vorab habe ich Kontakt aufgenommen, da ich noch Fragen zur Zahlung als auch zur Versicherung hatte - habe eine schnelle und hilfreiche Antworten erhalten! Der Dacia war für 16 Tage ein zuverlässiger Wegbegleiter. Die Annahme als auch die Abgabe verlief reibungslos und schnell. Habe fast 4.000km zurueck gelegt, einmal um die Insel herum mit einem kleinen Zipfel von den Westfjorden.
Reisezeitraum: Februar/ Maerz
Auto: Dacia Duster 2017, 4x4, Winterreifen mit Spikes (Im Winter ein muss!), F-Road erlaubt - fuer mich kam nur ein Gelaendewagen in Frage!
Annahme und Abgabe: Am Flughafen direkt bzw. man wird Abgeholt und Hingebracht. (Macht am Besten Fotos vom Auto, vorallem von den Macken die bereits vorhanden sind.. zeichnet diese auch in das Dokument ein.)
Versicherung: "Versicherungsbuendel" (wird je nach Anbieter anders genannt)
Zahlung: Anzahlung, Restzahlung vor Ort mit einer Kreditkarte
Kaution: wurde nicht einbehalten weder geblockt
Reinigung: Das Auto muss von dir selbst gereinigt werden, an einigen Tankstellen werden Staubsauger kostenfrei angeboten oder fuer 100kr, ebenso die selbst Waschanlagen nehmen 100kr (haben auch welche mit Kreditkarten gesehen). Zu empfehlen ist der Teer Entferner vor dem eigentlichen Waschgang!

Ich war zufrieden mit dem Service als auch mit dem Auto, es gab bei der Abgabe gar keine Probleme (3 Uhr morgens), dass Auto wurde kontrolliert, alles war in Ordnung und dann ging es auch schon zum Flughafen. Das einzigste was zu bemaengeln ist, waren die Lichter.. die waren richtig scheisse, ohne die Nebenlscheinwerfer haette ich die Strasse so gut wie garnicht gesehen.

Iceland is a magnificent country worth seeing it for sure. Renting a car gave me so much freedom to explore and the price I got with Northbound was really unbeatable. My partner and I rented a car from Lagoon Car Rental in February 2018, overall the experience was excellent. We arrived early (6am) at Keflavik and looked for the shuttle. Our only hiccup was that we didn't see any sign of a shuttle for about 20 minutes and we were trying to figure out another way to get to the car rental place when he showed up. Everything else from there went very smoothly, we picked up the car and looked it over before signing the agreement. We rented for 8 days and the car was nice, new and good on fuel. When we returned it the process was seamless, an employee looked over the car (no new damage), signed the paper work and we caught a shuttle to the airport!! I would highly recommend this car company and we will certainly rent from them again the next time we are in Iceland!

Our initial booking of a 5-seater 4x4 was very easy and Northbound had the best prices from all the rental websites we checked. The circumstances of our trip changed slightly before we left, but upgrading to a newly required 7-seater was a total breeze.

Additionally, due to Icelandic weather conditions and an evening inbound flight, we had every chance of being stranded in Keflavik with no open roads to our HomeAway. The guys at the rental office were more than happy to offer support and advice, as well as letting us keep warm in the office while we booked a hotel for the night!

The Kia Sorento itself was comfortable and easy to drive, even despite the snow. The heated steering wheel was a favourite feature for those of us driving. The only shortcoming for us was smaller luggage space as we needed to squeeze in 6 people and bags - if we'd had 5 (or packed lighter) it would've been plenty!

We literally endured three ginormous snow storms in Iceland in our tiny car! So glad I went with the family owned Lagoon Car Rental reccomended by Northbound who provide STUDDED snow tires on all their vehicles. We watched big and small cars with snow tires & 4WD but NO studs spin out all over the place, but our little white snow monster endured 60 MPH winds and blowing snow and drifts on multiple occasions. Always the smallest car in the parking lot but don't let the size fool you. We did have to buy a snow scraper (we weren't expecting this much snow) and deal with the rented GPS routing us on what it considered the safest route (whhich wasn't necessarily the shortest) but all in all we were warm and safe in the little white beast. The heated steering wheel and seats were life savers

Lagoon was top-notch...from the airport pick-up to the return of the rental, we had no complaints and would definitely use them again when return to Iceland.

Amazing! Smooth transition from airport to the rental office. And the people there were really nice and professional. They were very knowledgeable about car insurances that come with different types of the credit cards and didn’t push for insurance sales at all unlike their American counterparts. The car was brand new and they were very helpful in providing driving tips on the icy road of February Iceland.

Everything was perfect organized. We were picked up at the Airport. At the rental station (3 kilometers from the airport) was everything prepared to pick up the car. Same when we brought back the car. Short inspection and then direct afterwards the transfer to the airport.

A very nice fellow from Lagoon came and picked me and my friend up from the airport, whisked us to the rental, walked us through the details, took payment, and off we went. I had ended up asking to delay my pickup by more than an hour because of poor planning on my part. Everyone was very accommodating.

Northbound Lagoon Car Rental customer service was hassle-free, seamless, and their customer query response rate was rapid. The Kia Sportage was in impeccable condition. Car turnover from start to finish was easy. I decided to extend for another day, and it was done with very minimal effort, with no hassle, and at very fair prices.

I had a wonderful experience. The ability to drive where and when was part of what made the trip so special. I wasn’t tied down by a tour company. The vehicle provided was everything I expected and it performed flawless in all conditions encountered.

The rental we had for our trip was great.
Being picked up from the airport and dropped back was great!
The only feedback is that there was no windscreen washer fluid In the vehicle so we had to buy some. The windscreen wipers were slightly worn so as we were travelling in various weather conditions it proved difficult at some points
However the process was very good and very easy to deal with.

It was a nice car. We made hundreds miles and we did not spend too much diesel. We also drove in really poor meteorological conditions and the car reacted very well. We felt saved on it. The heater in the seats was an amazing extra!!.
The Northbound team was great. They pick us up in the airport and bring us to the rental place and vice versa. The paperwork was quick and easy.

The Mercedes GLE-500e is a nice car, Lagoon car rental also nice when we arrived to airport and went to Lagoon office. the procedure to pick up the car is very kindly and detail. When we finish our trip and return the car to Lagoon, there are also very nice experience too...
But, the GPS seems not very easy to operate and and setup a specific destination as we want, except the GPS, everything is good !

Great car rental agency! They made everything easy and convenient. Having locations both in down and near the airport was extremely helpful. I rented a 4x4 Dacia Duster which ran perfectly the whole trip around the Ring Road.

Your staff was very helpful and clear. They were about 30 mins late to pick us up at the airport, but otherwise walked us through the rental process clearly.

We selected your car rental agency because it listed the option to choose cars that were 4WD. Because we would be there in snowy and icy conditions, we enjoyed browsing a long list of cars you've got categorized as 4WD.

When we got there, we discovered that most of the cars you have listed as 4WD are actually AWD. Some people refer to them as the same, but they are not. You would offer your customers better service if you did not list AWD cars as 4WD. They are not the same.

Lagoon Car Rental was perfect. The pickup from the airport was prompt. Getting the car was easy (with some nice hot coffee to wait). They explained everything nicely and we were on our way. Car was in good condition, no problems at all. The return was prompt and before long we were delivered safely back to the airport. I would recommend them without hesitation. I would recommend using NorthBound too!

Our family visited Iceland from the United States in December. We were extremely happy with Lagoon Car Rental. The staff was very friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The Dacia - a brand we had never heard of - was great for a family of four. We took a couple day trips - including Reynisfara and Vik - and it handled great.

It was our first experience with Lagoon cars and with Iceland - but definitely not the last with either. Everything went smoothly and swiftly with Lagoon cars and I would recommend them to my friends. The Dacia Duster was fine - only problem was the gaslid, which was frozen so we had great difficulty opening it to fill the car up with gas/diesel.

Everything worked perfectly. Lagoon Car Rental fetched me at the airport and the car pick up was absolutely effortless and quick. Nobody tried to sell me any extra insurance and they didn't block anything on my credit card as some other car rental companies do. It was just great service.

The car was what I expected. It is very small, and I wouldn't recommend it if you're more than 2 people. But it worked really well and I didn't have any issues with it. I do have to say though with really strong winds it gets pushed around quite a bit. I would think that is due to its light weight. You just need to slow down and be a little more careful.

I added a second driver for a couple of days during the trip, which was very easily done over a quick email with Lagoon Car Rental.
Drop off and the ride to the airport was again quick and friendly. They weren't looking for small scratches and the like at all but just for big damage.

The Kia Picanto from Lagoon was a great little car. It struggled a bit in a snow storm, but most smaller cars did! Lagoon car rental were great. It all went smoothly.

My experience with Lagoon was outstanding from start to finish. Upon arrival at Keflavik, they were already there waiting for me as promised. Our shuttle driver assisted with luggage and got us quickly to the rental office where another staff member walked us through the rental process thoroughly but didn't oversell the additional insurance coverages or dissuade us from taking pictures of the car; in fact, he encouraged it. The car was essentially new, immaculate, and clearly well cared for. Upon return, we alerted the young lady on duty at the time that we were VERY late for our departing flight.... The shuttle had just left BUT she offered (we accepted of course as we only had 30 minutes before our flight departed) to take us in the car we were returning. Not only did we make our flight but we didn't need to move the luggage yet again. After having been burned in the past with other rental car companies, I can't say enough about how above board Lagoon Car Rental operates and how well they treat their customers. I only wish I remembered everyone's names to publically praise them!

Our rental experience through Lagoon could not have gone much smoother. We arrived earlier in the morning and our shuttle was earlier as well. It took a minute to find them among all the other companies. The car was in great condition with good winter tires. Previous dings and scratches were well marked and they even gave us a flash light to assist us while we verified the condition of the car. We choose to use our own insurance through our credit card and there was no hassles with that as well. The car performed perfectly and when we returned the car it was only a five minute shuttle back to the airport. One note - make sure you have some form of insurance. The weather changes constantly and I feel that with the other tourists on the roads your chances of an incident is high. 5 stars for Lagoon.

Our chosen vehicle was upgraded at no extra cost and the Kia Sportage we got was brand new and fantastic. The vehicle collection was straightforward, efficient and completed quickly. We would definitely use Blue Lagoon/ Nortbound next time we visit beautiful Iceland and recommend to any family/friends thinking about hiring a vehicle.

I rented a Kio Rio (diesel) with Blue Lagoon Car Rentals through Northbound and found the process seamless. The metacrawl data that the site provided helped find a lot of options and I was able to make the right choice for me and my trip.

The Lagoon Car Rental is spectacular . The staff are very friendly and helpful . The advice to take extra insurance coverage is sound and reasonable . Even though we did not get the car Hyundai i20 we got an equivalent car -Renault Clio (Diesel) . The rental rate is reasonable for such car . The extra service such as picking us up and drop them by off at the airport made everything so convenient to us especially this was our first time travelling to Iceland . I love Iceland very much and also the people of Iceland . The country is cold but the people are warm and friendly .

Our trip was awesome and the car worked very well. Even though the socket for GPS Navigator does not work, they gave us unlimited Wi-Fi router instead which is more convenient for us since we are familiar with Google Maps. We are very happy with the service and I would like to recommend this car rental company to my friends if they are going to Iceland.

We hired a Subaru 4WD for 10 days. Great service picked up from our accomodation & dropped off at the airport. No issues with the car, no issues with billing. Drama free.

Everything was excellent.
We were greeted on arrival at the airport and transferred immediately to the office where the registration process was easy. The car was ready and was exactly what we needed.
On return, we had a very early flight but the staff were ready for us and again the process was quick and easy and we were transferred back to the airport with the minimum delay.

The staff in the Keflavik office were exceptionally helpful and very polite. We’re quite happy with the service we received. The Dacia Logan was very comfortable to drive and suited our needs perfectly. The one issue we ran into was that the beeps and dashboard notifications were not easily understood. So it wasn’t always clear what issue a light is sound related to. Other than that, everything was wonderful.

We have an excellent experience renting with the Blue Lagoon company. We were picked up at the airport terminal, short drive to the office, and all was quickly done, they nicely helped us to find a camp site as it was already late at night. Our camper was great, clean, and only 3 month old. We had a wonderful experience, and can't wait to come back :) the staff was nice and friendly, and professional. We recommend.

Very good' unfortunately the izuzu had a fault on collection. But Lagoon car rental staff were great and replaced it with a Toyota land cruiser straight away and gave us a discount too!. Best car ever for all the fords we crossed,. As even route 1 had been closed by heavy rain. Thank you.

Friendly and Professional staff that provided us With a great experience overall. The car was Perfect for our needs, but you might want to bring an extra blanket for the colder days. During Our last day, we noticed the Olis discount chip on the keychain - not a big issue - but knowing about it would have gotten us some discount gas and free coffees along the 2700km trip! Be sure to inform future adventurers :)

We are satisfied, everything went just as we had reserved. The car was good and the personal in Lagoon Car were nice and helpful.

Overall Lagoon car rental was a good choise, the possibility to report any problem directly by email with a really fast response was a big plus in our journey. After we got a flat tire the support found us a Service at one of our waipoints/stops in Iceland so we could get it repaired. The Duster was also a good car for the 4x4 F Roads, we didnt got a single issue when driving the F roads. the Flat tire we got was on a one way bridge not on the F roads. I didnt had a tire protection (insurrance) but next time I visit Iceland I will definitely get one.
And they even have a shuttle from the Airport and back.

Our experience was good overall.

The Volkswagen camper minivan was great. The bedding was clean and warm. The kitchen supplies were good.. I would recommend a small camping coffee pot. There is very little signage in Iceland and I would recommend when a person leaves the rental office they are given directions back to the building. It took us a long time to find it and had to stop many times. There is no sign on the front of the building either to say Lagoon. That was also confusing that we booked through North ould yet the car was with Lagoon. I think a better explanation of that in literature would also be helpful.

We totally enjoyed our experienced with Nothbound and won't hesitate to do business with them again. We had a few questions before our arrival and all of them were answered By email very quickly.

Everything went very well. They picked us up from the airport and also gave us a ride somewhere when we gave back the car. The car was very well equipped (cooking gear) and very new. We were very happy to have rented the car there.

Booking this car through Northbound was very simple and transparant. Paid a small amount in advance, which was helpful. A very friendly girl from Lagoon Car picked us up at the airport. Within 15 minutes everything was cleared and we could leave with the car. One week and 1800 kilometers later we returned it, they checked the car and after 15 minutes they drove us back to the airport. I can really recommend Lagoon Rental! They are very easy-going and friendly.

The whole rental went very well, no issues. The car was basically new and it was greatly fitting our needs (road trip around the whole island). Originally we though about combining sleeping in the car with hotels but finally the car was comfortable enough for the whole week. Also the camping equipment we ordered on top was new and working. The only little downside was that no one was waiting for us at the airport after arrival (as promised) however a quick call helped, the guy was there in 5 min. Overall a great experience with this company.

Perfect car rental! Everything worked out like it should be. Lagoon Car Rental even helped me to take only the insurances I really need. I was planning to take the sand and ash protection, which isn't necessary when you don't go south. Other companies would've sold every insurance they could.

Booking with Northbound was probably one of the best decisions we made for this trip. Once we booked, we received the Iceland 101 ebook which had some useful tips as it was our first time to Iceland. We walked in expecting a Hyundai i20 but was pleasantly surprised with a Renault Talisman which took diesel. Pick up and drop off was very easy and the staff at Lagoon Car Rental did not push any insurance plans. The car was a fun drive and even came with a seat massage for the driver. We were really happy with our car rental experience from Lagoon. The friendly staffer picked us up at 6 am in a driving wind and rain storm. Our car was very clean and handeled nicely. The return process was also very smooth. We were driven back to the airport with sunshine and happy memories of our trip.

I would definitely recommend Northbound/Lagoon car rental to all travelers. The rental system seemed complicated when planning our visit but booking online with Northboind was simple and everything went smoothly. The staffer explained everything regarding driving in Iceland as well as discussion of insurance options which seemed confusing online. We chose the tire and gravel insurance since we planned to drive the ring road. Luckily we never needed them but it was a piece of mind for us. There was a lot of gravel and isolated roadways!

Had an excellent experience with Lagoon and booking through Northbound.
Before coming to Iceland, we had various questions, and the live chat was an excellent way to ask questions, and have a dialogue (with Liam) that allowed us to prepare for the trip well (about 3/4 times we engaged with the live chat, and got excellent inside information).
On arrival, it wasn't fully smooth being met by a Lagoon rep, and had to wait a little while to be transferred to their office to pick up the car. But once we got to their offices, the process was quick, and smooth, and we were soon away, with everything (i.e., all the extras) that we ordered. The car itself was great, with everything you needed and designed very well (e.g., Canvas storage compartments, curtains, various nooks and crannies to store things). Overall, this added to the trip, and gave us a great way to explore Iceland. Thank you.

Despite the appearance of the car was not good (lot of damaged) and we were afraid to get some warning indicators , the service of lagoon car was highly available on the phone even lately. We could then continue our trip safely. We are then satisfy of this experience in Iceland.

Everything went well.
We reached the arrivals hall at Keflavik around 1am and in 5/10 minutes the shuttle came (no need to call, they constantly show up there with a sign) and took us (5min drive) to the office. There was no car from the category we reserved, so we were upgraded do a bigger diesel car (low consumption btw).
No problem whatsoever when returning the car at the office, and again in 5/10 minute there was a shuttle taking as back.

We rented a small car from Lagoon car rental for 7 days, and the people at Lagoon were very helpful, friendly, and professional. We had read many online horror stories about Iceland car rentals in general so we were initially a bit worried. However, the guy working at the check-in desk answered all of our questions, and during the rental car walk-through at the beginning of the rental, he did an extremely thorough job and marked down even very minor scratches that I would normally not mark down. At no time did I feel like Lagoon was trying to take advantage of us or pressure us into buying things we did not need. I felt like Lagoon had our best interests at heart, and the staff also gave great recommendations on places to visit. If I come back to Iceland again, Lagoon would definitely be my first choice for car rentals. Thank you for a great experience in Iceland.

Staff were very helpful and the entire process went smoothly. Also had very prompt response when we were unsure about an issue about the campervan. Generally no issues with the campervan. Everything was as expected and more! Cooking utensils were great but stove grill/stand could be changed so that there was direct contact with pot (otherwise it took forever to cook!) Loved that we had airport pickup and dropoff as well.

Der Abholdienst vom Flugplatz hat nicht zufriedenstellend funktioniert. Der Fahrer Brachte mich zu zuerst zu Island4x4carrental und bat mich dort auszusteigen. Bis sich die Angelegenheit aufgeklärt hatte, war 1 Stunde meiner Reisezeit vorüber.
Beim Einschecken wurde versucht ein anderes Auto, Subaro Outback, zu offerieren. Das Fahrzeug ist im Prinzip ok, entspricht jedoch nicht meinen Anforderungen an die Sitzhöhe. Es erforderte schon eine gewisse Standhaftigkeit den gemieteten Wagen zu erhalten. Dieser Wagen mußte dann noch hergerichtet werden und es war schon wieder 30 min Meiner Urlaubszeit dahin. Ansonsten war die Abwicklung absolut zufriedenstellend insbesondere die Fahrzeugrückgabe funktionierte einwandfrei. Vielen Dank.

The staff are very accommodating and friendly, the vehicle is just the right size for eight people , the only negative is that there is no armrest on the driver and front passenger, makes it uncomfortable for long drive.

Easy, convenient; wonderful to be able to pick up in Reykjavik and drop off in Keflavik or the other way around. Friendly staff, good car. I've used others and prefer Northbound. We shopped around and they were the most affordable for our compact car needs, so it was nice to get quality for less. We do not really mind other inconveniences (for example rude employees or out-of-the-way rental locations) We base our choices on price alone. So again, this was a win-win.

The whole process was smooth and generally no problem, except at the time we check in there was a queue so we had to wait maybe around an hour before getting our booking. The car from Lagoon car rental was definitely better than what we expect: it had comfy comforter and pillows, compartments to store our stuff and cover for back door extension which was really useful on bad weather days. The team at Lagoon car rental was also easy to deal with, no fuss and really up front with the costs, insurance cover and other matters. Highly recommend these guys if you need a Caddy Camper!

We were offered Subaru XV instead of Forester and additional insurances for free as compensation, which saved us money and we really did not need larger car.
Cons.
GPS dd not recognize any address in the Reykjanes area and we had to use Google Maps in the cell phone to find Lagoon Car Rentals on our way back to airport. It would be good to have office address as home address or other preset address in the GPS device.

I had a great experience renting a 2017 Hyundai Tucson with Lagoon. The car was practically brand new and fit our group of 4 adults plus luggage easily. It was nice having a 4wd vehicle on some of the roads, particularly in the Westfjords region. Pick up and drop off went smoothly. Northbound quickly responded and fixed my booking when I realized I had entered the wrong times for pick up and drop off, and I was able to confirm directly with Lagoon that they had received an updated booking from Northbound. Great experience all around with both Northbound and Lagoon!

My Lagoon Car Rental experience: EXCELLENT! I ended up with a somewhat better car than I reserved, for no extra cost. Their agent met us at the airport as promised. The check-in was at a "easy going pace" when compared to the usual American "in a hurry" style. They offered and quickly explained their insurance options, but did not try to push anything. I had done my homework on insurance (and you should too!), so they went easy on it. They provided a gas discount chip for gas at "Olies" that gave me a 15% discount. Since Iceland has expensive gas, everything helps. Car return was easy, and painless.Best of all Lagoon was HONEST. I had inspected the car before accepted it... its was in great condition, nearly new, and I could not find any damage. On my last day, the sun was fully out, and I noticed a tiny chip in the windshield. Having been so careful, I felt disappointed, but know they would find it too, and I will have to file a claim with my insurance. Oh well. However, when they checked the car, they also double checked their records. It turned out the the tiny chip was already there, and not my problem. Wow! They could have been dishonest with me, and charged me. But they did not. They were honest! You read many horror stories about auto rental issues in Iceland, but based upon my experience, I say: Trust Lagoon. Yes, I will be happy to rent from them again next time. Thank You Lagoon

The VW Caddy Camper from Lagoon Rental was just perfect. The staff is very friendly and everything was very well organized.

It was a really good experience. Everything in the car was working properly. Customer Service was really good too. I like how we are also able to rent a portable wifi device, which helped us a lot with our navigation.

The VW Golf Car I rented from Lagoon Car Rental was practically new with only ~ 6,000 km on the car. I drove the car for two weeks on HW No. 1 (the circle) around Iceland with no problems what so ever. Great car.

Great just missing a sponge in the cooking tools and a blue disk for parking. Check out time was too long, especially if you re short on timing with the airplane. Pickup and drop off service was great. Car and all the equipment was great, very low gas consumption.

This is a long overdue review. My cousin and I visited Iceland back in September. We rented our Mitsubishi through Lagoon Car Rental and highly recommend this company to other travelers. We had some car trouble (I admit it was not the car/company's fault but ours) and the customer rep went above and beyond to help us out. I cannot thank them enough for their patience and service!

We were actually given an upgrade to a "Duster". WThe car went well, wad comfortable and reliable.

We were allocated a Kia Rio car which was wonderful, a 2016 -2 wheel drive model, easy to drive, six gears so fuel efficient, a screen display when reversing, heated seats (lovely on a cold wet morning) and even a heated steering wheel which was very nice in May. Lagoon were wonderful. They met us within 5 minutes of exiting the terminal at KEF and took us to their depot to sort the papers and there was no pressure at all to try and increase the various insurance extras. We dropped the car off the previous night to what we had intended and they drove us and our assorted boots, bags and baggage to the hotel without any fuss. Very good, we were picked up at the airport and dropped back off well. The vehicle was a good size for 7 people and for camping gear very happy with the Rental Company. Renault traffic was great, east to drive, clean and comfortable.

It was good. They seem like a small company so I was glad to be connected to them through Northbound. Otherwise I would have never found them. I had a brand new car and no issues with it. There were no issues when returning the car.

Everything was great. Staff very friendly, good speaking english. Car was a new one, only 8000 km. We received the map of Iceland and all information about road conditions.

Renting from Northbound was easy from start to finish. We were promptly picked up at the airport and quickly shuttled to our car rental location. We were on the road with our Diesel Kia in no time at all. The car was clean, drove well, and we appreciated the 'wind' tips from our agent. Easy check-in and drive back to airport. You guys rock!!

Our experience with Lagoon Car Rental was great! The shuttle to and from the rental place is very convenient. The car had great mileage and interior was clean. The car even came with a gas discount chip on the keys. Highly recommend this company to rent through.

It was fine. Only issue was lack of info on the final confirmation that at the airport I was actually looking for a Lagoon rep and not a northbound rep. I would suggest you make it crystal clear on the documents you send to the customer that you are meeting a Lagoon rep. Also no use putting a phone number or email to contact if no one is going to answer for 3 hours..

The overall experience starting from checking in to check out and the vehicle, was truly exceptional. The staff were very knowledgeable and also helped us with understanding how to handle the driving conditions in Iceland. Overall a great company!!!

Lagoon car rental upgraded us to a Toyota RAV which is a much bigger and nicer car set for the environment, with was super nice! if one advice to people renting: be careful when examining the car for scratches and dents before you drive. it went fine for us, but this way you dont have to worry for being blamed for something you didn't do to the car.

Booking through Northbound was easy and information of the cars very clear. In addition the prices were very competitive. Everything in the car rental was as agreed. I can definitely recommend Northbound and will use them also next time. Thanks.

Although they were short staffed for the holiday, they were still able to make us feel unrushed and gave us great tips for our short adventure. Our Kia Sorrento fit 6 adults easily (we didn't have a lot of luggage) and was so comfortable. We really enjoyed driving around in it and had a very quick and easy check in for the way back. I would totally rent through you again. Thank you!!

We had a Kia 5 door. Clean a few tiny scratches but really a nice car. Tyres were good. We drove on ice and they worked well.Clean internal and external. Car was waiting and ready for us. Good quick service to pick up and return vehicle. Shuttle service efficient. No surprise costs.

I would recommend this service to everyone, nice brand new car, low price, rental is conveniently nearby Jerks ok and there also are a few shops in the vicinity.
But the manager was a bit pushing too much for additional insurance, but that's how rental works I suppose. This was the first ever I used and it was great experience.

Lagoon car rental had provided a wonderful experience. I m satisfied with their punctuality on the provided timing as late as 1am. Despite having to book a Hyundai Tucson, we got a free upgrade immediately with similar model ( Kia Sportage) when it is unavailable. Their price was also reasonable and the car was very clean too

Overall experience was great! They picked us up at the airport right on time, drove us to the location which was about a 5 mins drive. Got the car on time, got the one I had reserved. It was clean, comfortable for my crew of 5.

I had an excellent experience with Northbound and Lagoon car rental. They had the best prices I could find and the car I rented was kept in great condition and drove well. Customer service was excellent with pick ups and drop offs from the hotel.

The only improvement would be around a little miscommunication. I didn't realise that Lagoon were a part of Northbound and so I walked past the lady holding the Lagoon Car rental sign and had to email Northbound to get her to come back after I realised and she'd driven away. The only suggestion would be to make that clearer.

Otherwise it was a fantastic experience and will recommend Northbound to others.

Brilliant experience with the company. Collected us on time from our hotel and gave us an automatic upgrade to a 4*4 vehicle which was not expected! No problems, great price and would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Upon calling on our arrival to Keflavik, my friend and I were promptly picked up from the airport and taken to the Lagoon Car Rental office, where our 4x4 sat waiting with winter tires (+ studs), as requested. The paperwork was quickly taken care of, and we were given ample opportunity to inspect the car for prior damage before going on our way. The prices seemed competitive/good for Iceland (the entire country is expensive--be prepared), and we opted for both gravel insurance and general insurance for an additional 24 euros/day. Northbound facilitated the rental procedure online and their website was both user-friendly and very straightforward without surprises. Highly recommend!!
