Experiencing Iceland behind the wheel of a 4x4 premium compact SUV is an experience unlike any other!
Grand Iceland was great. The van was in excellent condition, clean, and with all the amenities. I opted to get picked up in Reykjavik and drop the car off at the KEF airport and it was super easy. I was picked up at a hotel in Reykjavik and simply parked the van in long-term parking at the airport. I would definitely use them again.Ross • 12. We loved our experience in Iceland! The camper was everything we needed and I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to rent a camper van while in Iceland.Merryl • 05. May 2017 Rented a Nissan NV 200 from Grand Iceland in April 2017
A small great company! Personal and with good service. Smart solutions regarding the interior of the car, we got everything we needed. No "extra costs" like most other companies had (wifi, bed linnens, kitchenware etc...), everything was included.
God information about travelling in Iceland!
The company were fantastic, trying to help in every way possible, pickup/return to my hotel as well. I would have preferred a van with a rising top, but the winds can get so strong they are considered dangerous. It's a tight fit for 2 so make sure you are getting along. Everything you require is packed neatly in the van, except , and my only complaint a Porta Potty. Now this may not be a problem for many, but I had dreadful weather for nearly my whole week torrential rain/sleet snow and it's no fun trying to get to even a camp site toilet even 20/30 mtrs away if you can even get that close when it's really torrential rain and windy. Now I am assuming (always dangerous) that it is omitted because of space. Personally I think it is essential. A very minor problem is with the back doors, there must be a slight gap which leaves a very cold spot, some sort of quilted /padded material could be hung as a draught excluder. Some people may not want a toilet inside the van, I understand that, so my "complaints" if you would call them that are VERY minor. I have no hesitation in recommending Northbound and their vehicles are all fairly new and well maintained. They cannot be blamed for the weather.Gordon • 05. I had an absolutely amazing time in Iceland! Northbound helped a lot to find a campervan when almost all of the other companies were closed or had no vehicles available. Amazing customer support! They found Grand Iceland for me and I had a great experience with them. Gummi picked me up and dropped me off at the airport and he was a very nice and informative man. I had a lot of fun chatting with him on the way to Reykjavik and then back to the airport.
The campervan was also very nice: a good heater, nice bed, wifi, cooker, water container, and all the essentials needed to make the visit as comfortable as possible were there and in good working condition.
I can only recommend Grand Iceland! They are really great!
The same goes for Northbound!
Thanks so much for making my stay in Iceland an amazing one, I will be back to hunt the Aurora!
The service was EXCELLENT! We really enjoyed our time in Iceland and the camper van was perfect for our needs. On our next trip to Iceland, we will rent again with them without hesitation. We definitely recommend Grand Iceland!Philippe • 27. Oct 2016 Rented a Ford Transit Connect from Grand Iceland in September 2016
I had a great experience overall with Grand Iceland. Gunnie (sp??) explained everything very clearly as we picked up the campervan, and provided a lot of additional information that was really helpful for our trip. The van itself was extremely comfortable. Its very well insulated so I was not cold at night at all. It got us through the entire ring road with no issues. Would definitely recommend!Deidre • 18. I was so impressed with how well thought out the camper van was! I had such a good time in Iceland, and was so happy to have the camper for remote viewing of the Northern Lights. What a treat! Thanks again-
It was perfect and made my trip to Iceland hassle-free. The rental car was as described and Gummi was a great driver and an excellent tour guide whenever needed. He not only accommodated all our requests, he also brought us to amazing places which we didn't think of visiting due to limited local information and knowledge. I would always and I am already recommending Northbound and Grand Iceland for those who are planning a visit to Iceland. Thank you very much for making my trip to Iceland with my mom and her friends so perfect and memorable!Haein • 10. Oct 2016 Rented a Mercedes Benz Sprinter from Grand Iceland in September 2016
My wife and I rented a camper van for ten days in August, 2016. The van was small but new, was equipped with everything we needed (a small gas stove, a pot, a pan, cutlery, blankets, bedlinen, dish soap, etc), and everything worked fine. Grand Iceland is a small company and renting from them felt like borrowing a car from a friend. One of the two owners picked us up from the airport and drove us to the office in Reykjavik, where the van was. Returning the van also was completely unproblematic. The owner did not check the car at all. He simply trusted us that we had returned the car in good order (which, to the very best of our knowledge, we had). While he was driving us back to the airport, we had a very nice chat. Overall, it was the most pleasant experience with a car rental we have ever had and we can recommend Grand Iceland wholeheartedly. We would definitely rent a car from them again (we intend to travel to Iceland again because the landscape (glaciers, volcanos, waterfalls) and the animals (puffins, seals, whales, polar foxes) are amazing).Volker • 07. My wife and I rented the Ford Transit mini camper van for a period of 17 days as a means of exploring Iceland and using it as accommodation. The Van exceeded expectation. It was very comfortable to sleep for the two of us even though I am 1.8m. There was plenty of space for our bags, wine and food items. It came with all the cooking and sleeping equipment so we needed no further purchases and a big bonus was the WiFi so we could connect our phones to google maps for navigation. The van was new so was very easy to drive and had no problems on the gravel roads. As a company to deal with Grand Iceland were very helpful in every way and a pleasure to deal with. I Highly recommend this company.

Excellent, really beautiful country with nice people, amazing landscapes! Driving around and sleeping in the car is a good way if we don't have weeks or months to hike or bike. Grand Iceland was a super service, really kind people. For example, I forgot my glasses in the car and the guy brought it back to me in the evening with his own car!Thomas • 05. My partner and I recently rented a camper from NorthBound in July for a week. We were absolutely delighted with the service and the camper. Gummi, the owner was kind enough to offer to collect us from the airport which was fantastic! He then brought us to our brand new camper which we were very happy with. It was perfectly designed so we had all we need from the free wifi (incredibly useful!) to the sink. small fridge, cutlery, crockery, warm and clean bedding to the confortable bed.
The camper had blue tooth and heating during the night as well as black out blinds for the midnight sun. Gummi was always available via phone for any questions and was very relaxed about the camper in the sense he didn't demand it to be 100% clean when we handed it back and even let us drive it to the airport so we wouldnt need to pay a large taxi fee. Gummi was very honest.
Highly recommend using NorthBound! They are very affordable and were one of the cheaper companies we did our research on- and seeing some of the other campers that were on the road ours was much better quality.
we enjoyed the camper but would advise reducing the the huge advertising on the side of the van . we do not need everyone on the road to know we were tourists! a subtle GI would be better. Everyone very helpful. one unecessarily rude person outside the office when we returned in the building otherwise all greatMiranda • 12. Overall, fantastic experience with Grand Iceland for a March tour around the Ring Road. Vehicle pickup was easy. The camper was well-maintained and was able to handle Iceland's mainstream roads with ease, even when some ice and snow were involved. They were also flexible when we decided to drop off the vehicle a day early (note: dropping the vehicle off early does not get you a refund, and we weren't seeking one...we just found we didn't need the car in Reykjavik so had no need to keep it any longer).
The heater works well at night and has no noticeable impact on fuel levels the following morning.
One minor issue is that Grand Iceland's website (and others) assert that water to fill the water tank is commonly available at gas stations. We found this not to be the case, at least in outlying areas. Instead, we filled the water tank from streams and waterfalls (which is something I'd never try in the states, but is safe in Iceland).
Anyway, all in all a great experience and I'd happily do this again.
Nice service, nice people and nice car (was clean and comfortable). A bit pricey, but I guess its the prices in IcelandEduard • 25. Jan 2017 Rented a Ford Transit Connect from Grand Iceland in January 2017
The welcoming was perfect. All the hints were useful during the trip.
Everything about the car was explained properly, except for the switches and the light, but the delay to answer this question by email was fast and clear.
