Process of being picked up and receiving the Mobilehome was very smooth and easy, also the return went very smoothly. Just hoping there will be no unexpected charges coming later. We were 2 guys on a photography trip so we chose a 6 berth to make sure we had sufficient room for us and all our gear which we did. Not sure how 4 people would find the space but then we are no experienced campers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The mobile home was easy to use and reliable. Would have been better if you could have arranged the weather for us 4 days out of 5 was rain and mist.Stephen • 26. Jun 2018 Rented a Ford motorhome from Nordic Campers in June 2018
I am very satisfied with the company and the excellent service. The car is a good budget option and i had no issues with it. we slept in it better than expected :)Zdravko • 12. Jul 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in June 2018
Pick up, drop off, and the airport shuttle were convenient and we loved our camper van. We were able to explore so much of Iceland at our own pace and comfortably. Thank you Northbound!Jessica • 11. Jul 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in July 2018
We loved driving the Dacia Dokker around Iceland. It's easy to drive and since it's little, it's also easy to park. It was very comfortable to sleep in with the big cushions they provide and by scooting the seats forward, it is plenty long to lay flat. The kitchen compartment had all we needed, including extra fuel. When we needed the cabin heater, we folded the cushion back to better feel the heat, since the fan blows below the sleeping platform. It was easy to return the camper at the end of the trip and get a shuttle back to the airport. They were quite busy when we picked up the camper, but did take a minute to tell us what we needed to know before we headed out.Claire • 07. I had a very pleasant experience and other than a minor hiccup getting picked up at the airport (I don't think I gave a great contact number but no worries), we had a great time and experienced great customer service!Charles • 06. Jul 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in June 2018
Getting a camper was the best move we made in Iceland. Nordic Campers was great, they were there early for our pickup and the office is open 24/7 so drop off was a piece of cake.Scott • 03. Jul 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in June 2018
We loved the camper van and had a fantastic time in Iceland.
Pros - Iceland is awesome. The camper was awesome. You saved our swimsuits which we left in the car (thanks so much). Including all the cooking gear was key and super useful. The prices just can't be beaten.
I know you're a new company, so wanted to give a few small ideas which would make it even more epic:
1. Get some better pictures for your camper: https://www.northbound.is/rental-car/550/2016-dacia-dokker?c=camper&o=low_price&l=keflavik_airport&dl=keflavik_airport. Plain white, windowless vans don't have the best reputation in the US, so taking some pictures from side which has the logo would be much better. My wife almost vetoed the van based on the pictures, but I persuaded her otherwise. Once we were there, we know we'd made the right decision.
2. Include a lighter in the cooking supplies. We had to ask to borrow other camper's to get the stove started
3. Add a matress cover or fitted sheet over the foam. The foam doesn't really clean very well...it'd be nicer if there was a cover to cover all the hairs and stuff. It'd also probably make cleaning easier for you.
Hopefully that helps :D
We had an amazing time and will recommend it to anyone else we know going to Iceland.
I'm totally happy with as well the car as the super friendly staff.
I booked a Dacia Dokker for 12 days. Easy pick up and return. Most of all I liked the heating system.
When I returned the car, I forgot few things in it and they brought it to my hotel. So grateful!
Would definetely book again here. Also the cheapest prices I could find!
Easy and affordable. Very close to airport. Personal shuttle to rental from airport and back. Open 24hrs. Our camper was like new.Daniel • 28. Jun 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in June 2018
Everything with Nordic Campers was fluent. Pick up from airport was on time, same with drop off. The car was also running without any problems. The staff were kind, gave some traveling tips and advice.Vaidotas • 07. Jun 2018 Rented a Dacia Dokker from Nordic Campers in June 2018
The vehicle worked perfectly for one person. However, I doubt that the provided mattress would fit for 2 persons.
There were some minor problems with Nordic Campers: the fuel tank was not - as indicated by the staff - 35% full when I picked up the car, but it was empty. I had to return to the rental station to have fuel added. The gas cooker was missing in the box of utensils (was added upon my request); there was no pillow provided as indicated when I made the reservation; and a water container was missing.
All in all, the experience with Nordic Campers was so-so. However, Northbound Travel´s staff was perfect to work with.
Friendly staff. Nice to got the pickup and drop off from the airport.
The van was comfy, bed was nicely flat and firm, all stuff needed was there. Passed a week wandering about Iceland.
Comfortable to drive and quite solid.
Other than a minor delay with the pickup in Reykjavik, everything functioned very smoothly. The diesel camper van drove like a champ with excellent handling and smooth power delivery as I drove around Iceland on the Ring Road experiencing breath taking scenery and geologic activity everywhere I went. It sure beat dealing with a tent in a variety of weather conditions including snow, rain, sleet, mist, high winds, and temps in the 30's and low 40's. Runar Thor, the owner, drove me to the airport from the Keflavik drop-off operation. I was amazed at the number and different types of vehicles that they have acquired in a relatively short period of time. Thank You / Þakka þér fyrir
it was agreat expirients for us and the camper was well equiped and all things in order
when we gave back the car, the people was very lazy.....
The experience was great! I had not problem with the camper, and everything went fairly smoothly. The only complaint I have is that they forgot to pick us up at the airport and it took us over an hour to get in contact with them and get picked up.Jacob • 11. The van rented was very godd, although a few extras were missing - matress cover, water container... but overall all good. super positive experience with northbound, which gave us super prompt assistance with our reservation changesAndrea • 23. I found the company really kind and with a nice equipment. they included some devices such as a hitter which was really useful in our trip. The vehicle was clean and in good conditions and the personal was kind and helpful all time. Personally it would be nice it some storing furniture could be added to the campervan, but despite that, the camper has good quality/price balance. Thanks a lot!Alaitz • 04. We loved our trip with your Daccia Dokker Campervan.
There are some points though that we think you could easily improve:
- We didn't get an introduction to our van. We had to find out how everything works ourselves.
- The dishes included in the box in the van weren't clean. There was moldy tea bag in our tea pot.
- The cutlery included in the box in the van is very fragile. Maybe invest in some better and stable cutlery.
- The heating system didn't work well at the beginning. After contacting your emergency hotline (which was great, the person we talked to was really helpful and nice), we had to go and see a mechanic that had to blow through the pipes cause it was all congested. Maybe you could check the pipes everytime before rerenting the vans.
- When contacting your Reykjavik office to ask how clean we have to return the van, the person on the phone just said "Well yes you have to clean it inside and outside". So we drove to washing mashine to get everything clean outside and to vaccuum clean the inside and also to dust off the inside. When arriving in REY the person who welcomed us said that wouldn't have been necessary, a rough cleaning would have been enough.
It would have been great to get clear instructions about the cleaning.
We hope you consider our points and improve them!
We would probably choose your company again anyway cause we also like the inconspicuous style of the van (other than Kuku or Happycampers, they have really crazy cars).
General review it was good. However the first impression wasnt that god. We had to wait two hours and nobody contact us to tell what happened and why they were late, so the airport stuff went to the office to see what was happening. In my opinion they didn't manage that situation in a proper way, because we could have move to the office if we were told to do so. Next time I hope they call or send email to the customers so it didn't happen again.
The camper was good it had some small issues to be repaired but they didn't make any impact on our trip. The experience in iceland was fantastic and we hope to come back soon.
Everyone at Nordic Campers was great. The camper itself was fine, but not anything like we were led to believe on the page when we booked it (or maybe we didn't read everything correctly). We had looked at other companies offering similiar cars and Nordic Campers was a bit cheaper so we went with them. However, looking at the many other campers we saw in Iceland, the Nordic Campers are by far the most bare-boned, so to speak. We had to beg for chairs, no camping table, had to pay extra for a food box, no storage near the beds (in the form of hanging bags or the like), no curtains, , we had just a uncovered mattress filling for a bed, and the list goes on and on. We had a good time and learned to love the camper but it was a rocky start and because of the lack of equipment we would perhaps not recommend Nordic Camper (although everyone at Nordic Camper was great and the service (pick-up and communication and the like) was great.Kirsten • 16. In general the experience was good. Only trouble was that we got the van after having to wait for the pick up from the airport and then to get the van at the rental spot. It took 2 hours but we were compensated by getting GPS, although needs to be updated because map from 2012, and took a couple of detours because of that. Alberti also gave us sand&ash protection to compensate our wait. The third night the heating system started smoking and had to disconnect the battery to make sure we don't burn alive and tried to call Alberti and the emergency number we were given, but no one answered after several tries and no one called us back.. So we slept what we could(none) in a freezing van the last night. Also the 2 first nights the heating wasn't working properly and got cold, then had to adjust the heat for hotter. Thermostat not working properly. We got 10% of our money back which could've been more. First in Keflavik the service was really nice and the car overall trustworthy. Just the problem with the heating and in the shop in Reykjavik the service was not so friendly and we didn't get the chance to check the car together with them
Also the discount chip token didn't work at least at N1 when buying coffee etc. Didn't try that with gas because had a prepaid card for that. Iceland was amazing. Took the ring road and we will definitely come back to your beautiful island with friendly people! If only everything with the car rental would've been good, after all this was our honeymoon.
Hopefully at Nordic Campers these problems will be solved, and we might consider renting from there the next time, but at the moment we feel getting the next rental from another company, still maybe through Northbound, because everything worked well with the booking and customer service from you guys.
