Tour Highlights

The Hornstrandir nature reserve is home to the elusive arctic fox. It's one of the few places in the world where the fox can raise it's young without fear if being prey to hunters.
This makes the foxes friendly towards humans, so they are easier to spot and get close to here than elsewhere. Our farmhouse in Kvíar is situated close to a fox den, and so it’s a great place from which to venture out for a good look at a mother with her cubs. They are quite playful in the summer, so you can get some great photos, if that’s what you’re into. After the boat drops us off at Kvíar, we spend some time looking at and learning about the foxes, before unpacking our lunch and feasting together.
We can enjoy the weather, hike up the mountainside or spend more time looking at the foxes before being picked up by the boat again in the afternoon. Also included in the price is admittance to the Arctic Fox Museum in Súðavík, to learn even more about the foxes.
