Ásbyrgi Canyon
A part of the Vatnajökull National Park and the Diamond Circle route
Hikers can enjoy a spectacular view by traveling to the center of the canyon rock named "Eyjan", translated: "The Island".
The cliffs are up to 100 meters in height, while the canyon itself measures in 3.5km in length and 1.1km across
Fun Fact: An old Icelandic myth states that Sleipnir, Odins great horse from old Norse mythology, stepped down and hit the ground with one of it's eight legs creating the enormous horse-shaped canyon we see today in Ásbyrgi.
