Skógar Camping Ground
Campsite located directly next to the famous Skógafoss waterfall.
The Skógar Camping Ground is located under the Eyjafjallajökull ice cap, next to the ring road nr.1. Skógar is a tiny village with about 20 inhabitants. The camping area is located next to the beautiful Skógar waterfall and by the start (or end) of the Fimmvörðuháls hike that leads hikers to Þórsmörk. The Skógar Folk Museum is a must-visit for everyone interested in history and to see how Icelanders used to live.
The area is well equipped and popular amongst travelers but there is usually plenty of space for campers but if you are looking for indoor accommodation in the area you will need to book in advance.
