Þakgil is located 20 km from Vík, located in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. The name Þakgil can be translated into "The canyon with a roof" and as the name indicates the weather there is very mild and calm. There are multiple hiking paths in all difficulty levels surrounding the area, so everyone can find a path that suits them.

The camping area has everything you need for a pleasant trip, toilets, showers and a dining hall, a different type of dining hall though. It is located in a cave where tables and chairs have been installed and also a barbeque and a fireplace.
