Most travelers were happy with Icerental 4x4: cars generally felt safe and suitable for Iceland, and staff are often described as friendly and helpful, especially when problems arise or a swap is needed. However, experiences vary a lot depending on the specific car and how busy it is at pickup.
- • People appreciated reliable 4x4s and campers, good winter tires, fair prices, and smooth drop‑offs, plus quick help or replacement when something went wrong.
- • Several guests mention long waits for shuttle and pickup, older or worn vehicles, and some confusion or pressure around extra insurance and deposits. A few also noted unfriendly service, weak equipment (like Wi‑Fi or camping gear), and unclear airport pickup for all passengers.

"Overall, I was satisfied with the car rental. However, there was some confusion regarding a prepayment I had made through Northbound. Icerental 4x4 was initially unaware of the payment and tried to charge me the full amount again. Fortunately, the prepayment was eventually taken into account, but the situation was confusing. Customers should check their invoices carefully to avoid being charged twice. Northbound and Ice Rental 4x4 should communicate more closely to avoid this kind of confusion in the future."

"Good service, good car."
"Very bad service and bad car. The brakes were rusty and super noisy and the car in a very bad shape."

"Personnel très désagréable, limite agressif pour vendre leurs assurances. Tous les véhicules sont énormément kilométrer dans des états déplorable."

"Car was good. Rear tail light was out and it needed the breaks replaced but other than that fine"

"It worked well for the travel that we did."
"De auto was goed. We reden veel op de gravelwegen en dat ging perfect. Het benzineverbruik is wel hooBijg. We kozen voor een jongere auto, 2023, maar vonden dat hij al wel veel kilometers had gereden: meer dan 200.000. Wij kregen de auto mee met een klein barstje in de voorruit. We waren niet alert genoeg dat meteen te zien en reden 3400 kilometer met die barst"

"I like the car very much. The customer service could use some work. I found the staff to be unfriendly, no smiles, etc."

"I order a Opel Crossland X, but get delivered a Fiat 500X. I am disappointed since this was a cheaper car. It was allso a longer distance away from the airport to pickup and drop-off and a bit waiting time when I should leave after I had deliver the car back. The Rent company was Icerental 4x4"

""How did you like the 2024 Suzuki A-Cross Automatic from Icerental 4x4?" First, we didn't get a Suzuki A-Cross. We got a Hyundai Tucson - which was perfectly fine. It was VERY tight for four adults going camping, but this is not the fault of Icerental. To the contrary - when we got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere their response was impressively quick! However, now that I know hybrids don't have spare tires, I probably wouldn't rent a hybrid again. Overall - icerental is very good."

"L'auto era molto datata e il 4x4 non funzionava x niente. Si accendevano spie in continuazione e dava un senso di ansia continuo."

"I was not so happy, because Icerental 4x4 gave me an hybrid plug in car Mitsubishi Eclipse, that is very different from a Duster: it is lower and it has a electric motor more delicate. Unfortunately Dacia Duster was not available, so that I was rather dissatisfied. Regards"
