Geysir
The Great Geysir for which all geysers are named.
Geysir is a geyser in southwestern Iceland. As Geysir was described in the old Icelandic tales, it became the first geyser to be mentioned in printed source, hence inspiring the word "geyser" as a term for all of its kind. The word Geysir is Icelandic for "gusher", a derivation of the Old Norse verb geysa.
While Geysir's dormant periods have become increasingly common, Geysir can blow boiling water up to 70 meters in the air when active.
