Hraunfossar & Barnafoss are just a few steps away from each other

The old tales say that two children were running over a bridge crossing Barnafoss when they fell into the waterfall and drowned. Barnafoss is thereby named after the incident (Barna- meaning baby). The grief stricken mother had the bridge torned down, the stories say.
