Sleipnir Tours Iceland

Sightseeing

Sleipnir Tours is not your average family business; they specialize in grand adventures that are anything but small. It all began with Ástvaldur "Valdi," who, back in 1987, was inspired by a glacial bus he encountered during his time in Canada. This encounter sparked a vision, which, although it took decades to materialize, eventually led to the birth of Sleipnir Tours. Valdi's passion for glacial exploration led him to spend years building glacier buses, honing his craft before embarking on an ambitious project—the design and construction of the largest glacial bus of them all. It was a monumental undertaking that consumed 1.5 years of hard work, not to mention an investment of 100 million ISK (719 million USD). In 2017, Sleipnir, named after the legendary eight-legged horse of Odin, son of Loki and Svaðilfari, finally came to life. True to its name, Sleipnir is a majestic sight to behold. With its towering height and eight colossal 78-inch (2-meter) wheels, it stands head and shoulders above both men and horses. Today, Sleipnir proudly roams Langjökull, accompanied by enthusiastic tourists eager to explore the awe-inspiring Icelandic wilderness. Sleipnir Tours exemplifies the spirit of adventure and the pursuit of dreams. With their exceptional glacial bus, they offer an unparalleled opportunity to experience the majestic beauty of Iceland's glaciers, led by a team passionate about sharing the wonders of the country's natural treasures with visitors from around the world.
