MYCAR in Iceland

Perfect for needs — two women with a big suitcase each. Ability to use car play was invsluable

Working with Northbound and MyCar was great... good communication, good service, easy overall process! (I do wish that the MyCar pickup and drop off locations had better signage.) We would rent through Northbound again. We actually were upgraded to a Toyota Yaris. It was perfect for a quick overnight trip to visit Southern Iceland before catching our flight home. It had just enough space for a large suitcase in the back and two carry-ons + a briefcase and a camera backpack on the backseats. There's not a lot of legroom for a taller driver (anyone over 5'10"), so something to consider with this car.

The staff at collection point Mycar were great and explained the hire and provided us with fuel fobs and discount vouchers. I joined Orkan to get discounted fuel. The wifi service was great and absolutely essential and made our trip easier. The only issue we had was using the fuel stations. None of the fuel stations outside of Reykjavik gave the discounts. We tried N1 and Orkan. Only when we got back to Reykjavik and I was connected to my phone service in Australia, did we receive a discount from Orkan. N1 actually took a payment before we selected a bowser but the staff at N1 were just rude about it. So we filled up and selected our bowser and paid again. So we were confused how we could be charged without any supply or purchase...we will have to reject the transaction through our bank. The car went well; we didnt risk any bad roads or water crossings which many silly people did in ordinary cars and ended up losing registration plates etc. I would recommend Northbound for the perfect f-rated road vehicles for travel around Iceland. Northbound made it easy for me to rent a car for my short stay in Iceland. There was an issue with my original rental, however Northbound contacted me promptly and made the adjustment very easy. Highly recommend renting through them!! Great customer service and support! My rental was through MyCar and they were amazing! Great staff, prompt service, and super easy to catch the shuttle to and from the airport.

Everything was exemplary. Pick up, drop-off, the quality of the car, etc. However, my only complaint was that I was not able to fill the car up with gas. As a U.S. citizen, my credit cards do not have pins. That is generally not required in the United States. I had no trouble using my credit cards elsewhere in Iceland (restaurants, stores, hotels, etc.) however, the automated (and attendant-less) petrol stations required a pin. Consequently, I had to return the car not full. Your attendant at your office at KEF was very nice, but there was nothing he could do except fill the car for us and charge the rather hefty service charge for that.

The 2023 Toyota Aygo was a good car to get around in.

Lovely car, full of the latest gizmos. We had a car for two separate weekends and the customer service team forgot our airport pickup on the first weekend - I had to ring to chase it. The staff were lovely though and pick up/drop off was very smooth

Nice little car. Perfect for city drive or highways. We drove 759 km and I filled 30l of gas so the consumption is really low. Very good service, fast and effective as to take a car and also to drop it off. Thanks lot I really enjoyed to deal with your company.

The car was great. Absolutely no fault with it

The car itself is not a great model...the doors don't close well, having a suitcase in the back seat sometimes caused the rear seatbelt alarm to go off incessantly, and in general, it was not a wonderful car. If we were ever thinking of buying one, that thought would have been immediately dismissed. But it got us dependably around the Ring Road, and was relatively inexpensive for gasoline in a country where the price of gas is expensive. All and all, I am glad we did not spend more money for a rental car. And MyCar was very good in refunding the money for a non-functional wi-fi router, and that was appreciated. Thank you!

The car was great and was the best price we could find. Booking the car was easy. I appreciated how Northbound (who use MyCar vehicles) reached out before we arrived to schedule a pick up from the airport and even called me to check in when we were late to the shuttle getting off the airplane. There were several discount tags for different gas stations with the keys which was helpful. When we returned the car it was very easy and the guy there was very nice to take us straight to the airport even though the shuttle just went. I would recommend Northbound to anyone looking for a car rental in Iceland.

Excellent vehicle for what we required, both on F Roads and in the snow.

I didn't realise how small the Toyota Yaris is until I picked it up, but amazingly it seated 5 adults (slightly tight in the back, but still OK), plus two large suitcases. The vehicle was spotless and almost new, and the pickup service was great with really friendly staff. Some delays on drop-off, awaiting another couple who were really slow, but a fast ride to the airport helped. The Yaris was a hybrid and returned excellent fuel economy, but still had enough zip to maintain the speed limit on those windy roads, even overtake! Lots of safety features, especially in adaptive cruise mode, and really easy to drive. Some things to remember; (a) drive on the right hand side of the road, (b) keep headlights on continually as per the law, (c) if you park on the road, park in the same direction as the traffic.
