Icerental 4x4 w Islandii

I booked 2023 Toyota RAV4 Automatic on NorthBound.is. However, when I arrived at the rental office, I was given an apparent much older Mitsubishi Outlander with an odometer reading of over 125,000km. The interior was dirty. I requested a RAV4 or similar but I was told that it was the only available car. I asked multiple times about the model year of the car but they refused to tell me. I finally found out that the model year of the car is 2020 by the VIN number in the contract. When I received the car, I found that the only USB port was broken and CarPlay was not working, I asked them to make it work and they told to buy and phone holder for car at any gas station. Below is a list the problems I and other drivers found, (1) The rear bottom of the car often makes grinding noise when gas padel is released, likely a differential or transmission issue. My wife and I had been very nervous when we drove the car in Iceland, fearing it might break down any moment. If my car makes that noise, I'd send it for repair immediately, (2) it doesn't have the promised free GPS on booking page, (3) no backup camera, (4) missing rear license plate, (5) one of the backup light was broken. Icerental 4x4 is the worst rental car company. I couldn't even imagine the existence of such a car rental experience before this. When I return the car, after I showed all the above mentioned issues to the manager at the rental office, Mr. Mariusz, he acknowledged all those issues but still insisted the car is in good condition and safe to drive. I suggested him to inspect and fix the issues of the car before renting it again to another customer, Mr. Mariusz was mad and yelled at me, "It is not your business, shut up and get out of here". In summary, avoid Icerental 4x4 who put their customers' lives at risk by renting out unsafe cars. I'd also like to mention that Mr. Alexandra at Icerental 4x4 was very professional and polite. Mr. Mariusz and the lady who gave me the car were surprising unprofessional and rude.

Experience was great. Rented through a third party with the full insurance. Wish I’d rented directly and got the insurance directly. Took a risk getting the insurance through the third party, but didn’t have any issues or need the insurance. Car was what I paid for: a less expensive alternative without any bells or whistles. Car was in fair shape, but made me less worried about any dings or dents. Would rent here again.

The pick up was late, I contacted northbound staff by chat with excellent support and then I called Icerental by phone to ask about it and they arrived in that moment but almost 1 hour late after arrival time and without any apologies, the condition of the vehicle was excellent but after couple miles we left the location we detected a low pressure tire alert in the screen, we found a gas station to regulate the pressure but the alert continue, we had to drive back to the Icerental location to ask about it and they fixed quickly but we lost another time there. Out of this main picking delay everything was pretty good and was a great experience with the vehicle including the drop off with a very nice and kind driver

We received a Suzuki S-Cross hybrid, which was fine. IceRental were fine although at the start they only took the drivers from the airport, which was ok for us, but had it been our first ever visit, or the driver wasn't the one with the credit card, this would have been a very stressful and unsettling start.

The car was in very good condition. Just perfect for a four person doing the Ring Road.

The rental process was seamless and the vehicle was great for my trip.

Auto mělo najeto přes 300 000 km, totálně sjeté gumy, nefungovalo vyhřívání sedaldla,… Obsluha nemela čas na řádné předání auta s nějakým komentářem ke stavu vozidla nebo jiným náležitostem. Az na místě jsme se dozvěděli, že “zero policy” nekryje základní poškozeni jako případné proražení pneu, což je na islandských cestách celkem běžné, takže to není nulová odpovědnost a pres 10 000 kč navíc. Také bychom ocenili při výběru pojištění lépe rozepsáno, co co znamená a jaké možnosti pojištění daná půjčovna nabízí ( ne jen basic a zero policy).

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with this rental that ruined my trip, and will affect me for months. The roof tent being held on by glue and plastic bolts in one of the windiest places on earth seems crazy to me. Naturally, the wind ripped the tent off, and even though I paid for platinum insurance, I was charged $4,700 USD for it, which is more than the cost of my entire trip. I’ve been looking forward to this trip my entire life, and my experience with this rental ruined it.

Overall we are quite happy with rental from Icerental 4x4 and car served us very well during our 2 weeks trip. A couple of things to be aware: 1. we had to wait for almost an hour for the agent to pick us up at the airport. Given they was no sign or communication, it was not ideal. Otherwise both pickup and drop off were fast and easy. 2. Because we bought car insurance elsewhere, we had to pay 2,500$ deposit. It was not a problem for us and we got money back about a week after we returned the car. But for many people that's beyond their credit limit and they were forced to buy a minimum insurance from the rental company.
