Star Car Rental in Island

Very good van, easy to drive with no experience, good performance in very bad weather. Spacious for 2 people. It would be a tight fit for 3 people. Need to bring your own sleeping bags.

Our experience with Northbound was perfect! Booking online was simple and their prices were very competitive. We were met at the airport by a very nice gentlemen who drove us a few minutes to the office where we completed the paperwork, got an explanation of the contract and rules of the road in Iceland and then got our car. It was brand new....only 35 km on the odometer! We drove the entire ring road over the course of 15 days and had absolutely no problems with the car. Everything was great! We dropped the car at a location near the airport and were given a ride to our terminal. When I return to Iceland (which I hope to do very soon) I will definitely rent from Northbound again.

Star Car rental, or Ace rental are two sister companies that do amazing car rental service. We were picked up from the airport and driven to the location. The Dacia Dokker we rented was actually brand new (no pressure on us or anything, haha) and only had about less than 100 kilometers on it. We wish the man we were dealing with explained a little bit more on what we were covered with, regarding insurance. But all was well, we only had about two chips on the back which was covered by gravel protection. The inspection was really quick and we were driven back to the airport. Great service and when we come back, we will use northbound, and Ace/Star car rental again!

The van was brand new, I think it had less than 100 km on it! Pick up was convenient and turn around time was good, we hit the tarmac at 6:30 am, got our Van and hit the road by 9 am. The young guy who navigated us through the paperwork was helpful and gave us tips about what to expect with weather and road conditions. He gave us some good tips about the vehicle and Iceland in general too. The car was great on gas, especially for doing a lot of mountain and dirt road driving. The wifi was ESSENTIAL, it was usually fast and could handle 3 of us, service wasn't perfect but much better than expected. We hadn't planned much of our trip before arriving. It was easy to look things up on our phones as we drove. We used our phones for navigation as well. The sleeping bags we rented were also brand new, they were rated for -10, our coldest night was -6 and we were all comfortable. The bin with a pot, pan, plates, burner, cleaning supplies etc. was enough to make meals and we didn't feel like we needed anything more. We were 3 average sized males, we fit fairly comfortably while driving. Sleeping was just enough room for 3 guys, we slept head to foot for a little more space, we had about 6 inches between each other. It was very easy to find campsites. Overall a very good experience, vehicle was reliable and rental was priced competitively.

It was the best ever! We rented a Dacia Dokker new with everything inside, the car was perfect, the trip was perfect. Everything was there like in the description. The campervan worked great for us. The heater kept us plenty warm and the car has an USB port to charge your phone.The dealership was nice and picked us up at the airport on time and we weren’t charged any unexpected fees. Would definelty recommend.

We could not be happier with the service, the car and the trip. The camper was comfortable, cozy, and warm. Everything you need for a trip around Iceland is there and theres space for everything you need. If ee are back we would choose the same company and car without a doubt.

We rented the camper for 12 days, all insurances included and with an extra driver- by far the best offer compared to other rental services. We arrived at the airport and there was already someone standing to pick us up and drive us to the rental station 5 min away. Big plus was that someone picked our car up in a private place because we wanted to stay a little longer in Reykjavik. All very easy. Clean, enough space and comes with every thing you need for a camping trip :)
