First of all at the arrival we got a different car, because the Suzuki Gran Vitara was not available. Anyway it was not bad because we got a Hyundai Tucson. The car had a strong perfume of something used as a sort of spray to clean the car, but after a few minutes we understood that it was meant to cover a very very bad smell that was in the car. Like something was poured out and removed, but the smell was still there. That was a very annoying issue because it is not acceptable to rent a car in this status, most of all when you have to drive long distances. Anyway, the worst thing was the attempt to cover the issue and cheat the customer. We contacted the Nothbound Customer Service (very responsive and kind) but Icerental never tried to get in touch with us. Only positive remark was that we got a refund of 10% at the end. In summary the experience with Icerental 4x4 was bad, they were not at all professional and trustworthy. Alex

The overall experience was pretty perfect! From the booking - to the airport shuttle - to the cars as they were pretty new and in a good condition (we did a 3.500 km journey with a Suzuki Jimny incl. rooftent), i would totally recommend Icerental 4x4 and also northbound, especially their friendly and very quick customer service (keep on the good work, really appreciated!)

We had a reasonable experience with Go Car Rental and Northbound, the only issue we ran into happened because we arrived later at the airport than we thought: it was quite complicated to get in touch with the rental agency and coordinate a pickup at the terminal. Go Car Rental's phone system was difficult to get through, and we had to call twice in order to get them to send a rep to pick us up (for this, I've deducted half a star). The other half star I am deducting because the extra insurance packages offered were quite expensive considering the base cost of the rental was already quite pricey.

We rented a Toyota RAV4 for 11 days with Northbound. All went smoothly for picking up and dropping off the car. The staff's friendly and efficient. The car worked for us very well through all road types. We'd hire a car from Northbound again.

All the staff was very friendly and helpful, the campervan was very nice...very easy to drive and we found camping tools already inside very usefull... the only things was very very cold inside during the night and it was August....but I will definitely suggest it!!

Airport shuttle was late, we waited 45 minutes. (Nordic Campers) Contact provided in the booking cannot be reached. We dialled like 3 times and no one picked up. When we asked them about the phone number (to check whether it is working or not), they explained to us that sometimes there's a queue, and they have yet to set up an auto reply bot advising caller on the queue. Pick up process was ok. We were upgraded to the larger Renault Traffic, which we very much appreciate, although it consumed more fuel. The staff didn't care to explain how to use the car, he didn't even bother to walk out with us to inspect the car. We asked about heater (is there one, how to use it), and they can't even answer us properly. We had to figure everything ourselves. Even had our first night sleep without the heater, cause we only figured that out the next day. Pillows were provided but not blanket, we had to pay another 25 EUR extra for sleeping bed rental. Burner was provided but no gas can. Otherwise, everything else was ok. No major issues with the camper van. We wanted to ask for a few hours extension just before our flight the next day morning at 0700 hrs. We tried calling the contact number, and again no one answered. We called the mother company City Car Rental (Reykjavik office), and immediately someone answered us. They were kind enough of grant us 5 hours extension for no charge.

Very good experience with Ford Expedition 4x4 , Icerental and Northbound, fantastic trip in 7 people without any problem ! excellent !

In generally ok we had not problem but the car we rented was old with 230.000 km and fuel gasoline, so we spent a lot money than expected and for what I spent on the rental I expected a better car...

Our car rental experience in Iceland went smoothly from start to finish. Unfortunately, the Citroen Berlingo we had reserved prior to our trip was unavailable upon arrival. However, Thrifty did provide us with a virtually identical Peugeot which performed flawlessly throughout our trip. Pick up and drop off was a breeze. Would definitely rent through Northbound again!
