Car Rentals in Iceland

I travel a lot and renting vehicles is never a fun part of it. But Star Car Rental completely changed that! This was the best rental experience I’ve had out of every country I’ve visited. The staff were very happy and friendly. The car itself (Dokker Camper van) was exactly what we needed. It came with all the supplies for actual camping. The bed was comfortable and the heating system a big bonus. Best part was no hidden fees or penalties. Everything (including damage insurance) was included. I’ll be using Star Car Rental on every trip to Iceland from here on out.

The Fiat Doblo Maxi was perfect for our short trip to Iceland. We were only going for about 4 days so we knew we needed a lot of flexibility to go and stop as needed. This van was perfect for doing just that and parking at campsites along the way. It was also a 2024 model so everything was new looking and functioning well. Renting this prevented us from having to be tied down to a certain hotel reservation / a certain area so it was the perfect solution!

Liked: convenient location close to KEH, relatively new vehicle Need to improve: 1. Explanation of how to operate the vehicle; every car is different, may not be familiar with 4x4 operation 2. Preparation of the vehicle was not perfect: Bedding items (mattress and the sheet, sleeping bags, and pillows were not dried well. My friend’s car didn’t have a ladder, though it was kindly delivered to our location, long way. 3. Communication was difficult during the rental days. My questions via email, texting, or your website communication tool were unanswered. Generally, I got good impression about your company and I will do business again if I have a chance.

It was a Renault Express but the same that Dacia. A good car

The car was excellent running, very clean, well equipet for Camping. I had a good sleep in there.

Everything very fine! I only would add that Wup communications would do everything easier. Iceland is mail and telephone, Wup is more agile.

Star Car Rental Company everything was friendly, fast and convenient. The car was in good condition. Inside there are sleeping places. Very comfortable mattress, there was everything you need for sleeping, pillows, blankets and a sleeping bag. Mini kitchen and dishes. A wonderful trip around Iceland and the car was comfortable and reliable for us. We were very free in our movement.

I cannot recommend this wonderful company highly enough. Ivan was instantly responsive to our queries. To have a car delivered to us and to be brought to the airport in the car so we did not have to take bags out made both pick up and drop off a completely stress-free process. The car was lovely to drive and the cost was incredibly reasonable and enabled us to see more of the extraordinary beauty of Iceland. If you are thinking of renting a car - which I strongly suggest, you cannot go wrong renting from Northbound!

Very good experience. Staff was friendly and helpful, they picked us up at the airport and brought us to the car rental agency and they did the same when we broought back the car. The Dacia was a really good choice for driving both on paved roads and on F-roads.

The car offered enough space for 6 people and their luggage. A great driving experience for everyone

We had our own sleepingbags. That was perfect. For others it would be helpful, if you let them know that the blankets only very thin ones.

hello, car is ok for iceland, on all point of wiev, mechanic, diesel consumpion, comfort, space for bags. honestly it was a great surprise for me,its over our expectations. only i suggest to your team to give a fast check of car after a rent, our car had the convergence strongly to right, and to check pressure of tires second suggest is to update the navigator

The process was easy The service was great I don’t have any feedback on what could be better next time, other than a bit more clarifying on where pick up Station P2 is once you leave the airport. The information desk inside the airport asked us to wait in the lobby and someone from P2 would come in to get us. Once we went outside, we were unsure, due to signage how to get to P2. The prices seem a little high, but I know that Iceland is a bit more than what price you would pay here in the US.

Everything was easy with Konvin Car Rental : transfer from the airport, checkup and informations about the car, explications if we need help during our trip and also the control of the car before go home at the end. Thanks a lot. A recommend

Great service from Star car Rentals! We were picked up at the airport and taken to the rental agency, and found this very convenient. The Star Car Rentals representatives were very polite and helpful. Easy process to pick up car. The car itself was in good shape, nice and clean inside and out. Overall a great experience and would rent with Star Car Rentals again on my next trip to Iceland.

Loved it! Up on arrival we were well received and all questions answered, helpful Info regarding the weather and road conditions websites was provided too! Good humored, kind staff. Van is the perfect size for 2 adults, easy to drive, like driving a small car honestly. Good fuel economy. We drove the entire ring road and saw all the beautiful countryside we could in our 7 day trip. Will use your company again when I come back!!

I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse instead of Kia Sportage.

Very good vehicle, brand new car (9.000km) it smells like new, super comfy, lots of extras, for sleeping perfect, I WILL RECOMMEND 200% We did the whole island with it and went really really good! We are super happy with the car!

The car was great - though the pick up was not enjoyable as the car was difficult to locate in the dark and the wind was howling. Maybe worth designing a better set of instructions to locate. Drop off too could be improved - unclear as to exactly where to leave the vehicle which was confusing. Also I'd suggest letting the customer know how to charge a hybrid and maybe explain how to set up an account? With fuel so expensive in Iceland, the EV part of the car would have been really useful, but it was too difficult to figure out.
