GO Car Rental in Island

The pick up was very difficult because the do not accept the VISA Debit Card for the deposit and this was not clear for us in advance - so we had to pay for a very expensive insurance. In fact we had to pay 1.000€ on top, so that we had also rent a car from Europcar! Not really good!!!! Car was ok.

I did not rent this car. I rented a 2024 KIA Sportage 4x4 Hybrid. I was very pleased with the vehicle. My general experience was good. On that particular day our flight was 2.5 hrs late and two others flight landed at the same time. We could not find a "GO" rep with a sign in the airport nor could we find where the shuttle was. I looked in the car rental shuttle parking lot and could not find anyone. I could not even find a Go Car Rentals sign directing us where to go. Finally I asked a random person and they said they thought Go Car Rentals had moved their pick-up place to the other side of the airport. We found them. The building where we picked up the car was very busy due to 3 planes arriving at once. We finally got our car and wifi hotspot which were both very unsatisfactory. We left the lot with our car (Suzuki) because the indicator lights on the dash were lit as if there were problems and in addition the wifi would not give us a signal. I addressed this with the staff and was told all Suzukis do that, that there weren't any problems, it's just the lights. They blamed Suzuki. So we returned and insisted on a different car ( we got a very nice 2024 KIA Sportage 4x4). We left again and again the wifi stopped working. We returned and they gave us a functioning cord. The whole process from time of arrival to getting on the road took about 6 hours. We arrived at our destination in Borgarnes at 9pm, driving straight there. As bad as all of this sounds I really can't blame any of the staff. They were super nice, considerate and did all they could to make a bad situation tolerable. One man's name was NuNu. another I don't remember his name but he was black and had a foreign accent. He had been so busy that he had not eaten breakfast yet. He was not really complaining and so we joked about it. Both gentlemen were extremely polite. The car worked perfectly but upon return it was discovered that we had lost the front license plate (to our surprise). We did hear a knocking sound from somewhere under the right side of the car that got louder but eventually went away. When we found out we had lost the plate we think that's what we heard but could not see when we looked under the car. We were charged 10,000 ISK when the truth was the plate was obviously not screwed on tight enough.

The car was great. Unfortunately we were not picked up at the airport on arrival and had to organize our own transfer. When we raised this with Go, there was neither an explanation nor an apology. I will recommend Northbound without hesitation!

The process for picking up the car was easy and efficient. The car was as described and worked well. The only comment is that there are so many white Dusters it was sometimes hard to find it in the touristy parking lots.

Decent but not exceptional, Did not receive vehicle requested. I accidentally booked for an extra day and no refund available. Got a parking ticket, paid the ticket and asked for the print out, ticket was $32 and change, was charged $67, a $30 service charge included which was not mentioned until I asked for a paper trail and physical proof. Terrible transparency and honesty will not be going back. Happy to take your money but not give back what is owed to you.

It was great. Fit our needs exactly. And the staff at GO where flexible on the return time which really helped us out. And Iceland was unforgettable. Thanks so much.

Hello Service in GO Car rental could have been faster. When client comes to office, it would be nice that you would have service, instead of walking around and fixing places (personnel). In dropoff situation I had a feeling that they tried very Hard to find something to extra invoice.

Very happy with rental. Rates much lower than competitors and remained high quality. Good vehicle. Easy transaction. Transportation to and from airport timely.

Go Car Rental Reykjavic experience was good. Only issue was the fuel tank was empty when we picked it up instead if full. The lady we told about this said it was fine to fill it as we left Keflavík and bring it back empty. The problem was that she did not make a note of this on the records so there was a bit of a drama when we returned the car with low fuel tank. Luckily we had taken a photo before we drove off on the first day showing the petrol light on. Other than that the car was very good for 2 people, 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks. Brand new car. Good milage from the diesel tank. Handled the steep slopes and bends well. I would recommend getting a bigger transfer van or having 2 vans running each way because on pick up there was not enough room for my wife and she had to wait at the airport for the driver to come back and get her.
