Northbound was a very easy to use car rental comparison site that gave me my best option for my week in Iceland. However the experience with their partner the supplier was not so great. Very forceful in selling their insurance - even though I told them I have both my credit card and private travel insurance. They then went on to put a hold of the complete excess on my credit card (~AUD $4,500. A lot of money when you're travelling on top of my week's rental cost). After that, they told me to sign an agreement that I would pay for any damages without showing me a condition report of the car. When asked to see the report, I was advised they take images of the car and keep it on file and they cannot show me the files: I should take my own photos. Very skeptical! Lastly, they told me the car petrol meter was broken and that's why the indicator does not reach the top (where it indicate full.) After my first stop at the petrol station, I was able to proof that it was a lie. I really dislike the dishonesty. Originally I was going to return the car 3/4 full. But I didn't want their next customer to experience the same as I did. The car was returned full with indicator exceeding the Full mark. Able to provide images. All in all, got my full refund back. I drive everywhere I travel in the world. Had found it's always been a pleasant, safe and easy process. I was on the edge renting with the supplier, not knowing if there was going to be an email war of 'he said-she said' when I return home. I think I may stick to the bigger rental companies for the peace of mind.

This was a great choice for our trip. The car ran perfectly and the roof tent was amazing! Everyone we interacted with at the supplier was professional, friendly, and helpful.

I am very happy with the service offered by the supplier. They were very kind and gave us a lot of possibilities to pick up the car and to leave it because my arrival and departure flights were very eary in the morning and the office was not opened at that time. I had always the possibility of keeping contact with Bogi and it was very nice because it was my first time in Iceland and i was a bit nervous about the car and everything. The car was excellent and we had a lot of fun! What else could I ask for?

I did a good research about some of the rental companies and I feel I made the right decision picking the supplier. They were completely professional from the beginning ever since I made reservations. Communicating with me, Coming on right time and picking me from the airport, and providing all the information I was looking for. The WiFi they provided was a life safer and I used that to communicate to outside world while staying at places and driving all around. I was provided with extra blankets as it was cold. The car was great with a tent on top. I already told several of my friends, and they will be looking forward to talk to the supplier. I gave my feedback right away to the supplier while returning the cars to get bigger Campers :), because I will be visiting Iceland again with family. If you are thinking to rent from the supplier, go for it in a heartbeat.

Wonderful service and a quality vehicle. Everything was taken care of and extra amenities, such as free mobile WiFi, made everything go very smoothly. Roof tent camping honestly seems like the best way to expierience the natural beauty of the country. Can definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to visit Iceland!

The staff at the supplier was extremely helpful when picking up the car, and although the car was an older model, it worked well. Maybe we could have found a cheaper price elsewhere but Northbound was an extremly convenient way to compare prices.

Very good, from booking straight through to returning the vehicle, it was a simple pleasant process. Pick up from the airport went smoothly. Vehicle and wifi worked perfectly for our 2 weeks on the the supplier road. Staff offered good travel tips. Tent was very comfortable, would definitely recommend!

Great service! Everyone was very friendly and went above and beyond to help us when we encountered some unexpected difficulties on the road. The tent was very spacious and kept us dry duthe supplier rainy weather. The mattress it came with was quite comfortable and we didn't end up needing the sleeping pads we brought with us. The car handled well and we were very satisfied with our experience!

I did have a very good experience with the supplier. They have been very kind, they came and pick us up to the hostel and at the end we just leaved the car at the airport. The bed was comfortable and the car very easy to drive. I really recomend it!

The attention of owner has been lovely, very nice. The car Ford Escape, in general good, comfortable, enough space, the tent water resistant and comfortable, the car suitable for the Iceland Road, but the tank no enough for F-Road without petrol station. Only could drive for 100 – 200 km. In the normal road, 300 – 350 km.

The supplier was perfect for our stay in Iceland. The tent was warm and simple to set up and the car had plenty of room for our luggage. We would definitely book through them again!

Great service, very friendly stafe and very knowledgeable. The only thing that was bad was the cleaning agent they used to clean the rubber foot mat. Smelled like gasoline. We had to remove them for the whole trip. Besides that it was worth it.

We have rented one of the Ford Explorers with a roof tent. The stuff was very accommodating and helpful, they picked us up at the airport, explained everything in a professional manner and went out of their way to help when we have encountered some battery issues with the car. If I come to Iceland again I will rent from them.

Our trip around Iceland was unforgettable because of our car rental! Everything was great! There was one small hiccup, that was able to be smoothed out, but definitely something to mention. One month before our trip, I contacted Northbound about changing our cars pick-up time. The representative accidentally gave false information about being able to pick up the car in Reykjavik, which was fine, but he still agreed to change our time-- but then, upon calling the supplier the day before we were supposed to pick up the car, we found out the pick up time was never changed. Everything worked out in the end, and over all Northbound was good. But thankfully we called the actual rental company the day before! I would recommend using Northbound to a friend as the prices were great! I would just suggest they are also in touch with the rental company for confirmation. Many thanks! Lauren

We had a car-renting experience with canping cars and it was really good. The staff was really friendly and the car had everything we wanted. The roof tent was really easy to set up, it had a confortable mattress and it protect us from the rain and wind

I had a great experience with the supplier! I typically have trouble sleeping in tents, but the car tent was quite comfortable - and surprisingly kept us warm throughout the evening. I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up a tent - it took about 1 minute. Also, I have to give a big shout out to the owners. Both were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and happy to give us tips and recommendations within Iceland.

One of my favourite trips ever! Primary purpose was photography hence the need to pull over frequently. Loved my Ford Escape with V6. Lots of power and 4 wheel drive essential for some of the roads and pull offs. Some trepidation about roof top camping initially but worked out quite well. As a single lots of space and nice not to be on the ground in a few overnight rainstorms. Great pickup at airport . Always wanted to be one of those lucky folks who had their name on a sigh. Other places suggested 40 the supplier cab ride to pick up vehicle. Was given excellent advice at rental station re whale watching and best sites. Wifi in car was great with 4 G. Couldn't have been happier with choice.

We rent the car in august for 10 days. All was fine, person pick up as at the airport and went to their office, he was very kind and helpful with us, for our lot of questions about weather, bus and other manners in Iceland. I will raccomend them to my friend if needed. Car was good, clean, the tent ok and all working. Only one "negative" note, it was a big gazoline engine, so it waste a lot of litres for our usage. If you plan to have long drive in F-roads you should have a tank.

The whole experience was great. Runar and other staff at Northbound were very quick to answer any questions and to update any changes I wanted made to the rental car. H.P. at the supplier was a superb intro to Iceland itself. He took the time to make sure we were happy with the roof tent and our planned itinerary. We even made a side trip to see the Dynjandi falls based on his recommendation and it was one of our highlights of the trip. Excellent service all around.

We LOVED our car. Renting from the supplier was fast, easy, and convenient. The staff was very friendly and the car was perfect for the trip. I highly recommend the supplier if you're traveling throughout Iceland.

It was fully aligned with our expectation. Just one comment about the Kitchenette. It would be good to have a better camping gas and to have it a little bit more complete. It's difficult to rely on it for all your meals when you only camp.

Very great experience with the supplier. The car was a little older, but this is a plus. You don't need to worry about scratches and they don't try to rip you off. Everything was just great and despite the age, the car was in a safe and good condition. Their customer service was very exceptional.

The car was great, and the people were even better. The roof top tent was excellent and just what we were looking for. We were picked up from the airport right at 7 AM. wew were given some excellent sugestion for things to do duthe supplier our stay and they were perfect. Highly recommend Northbound. As I lay out on my first night in my Northbound Ford Escape + roof tent I was in awe, of not just the incredible beauty of the wilderness that surrounded me, but of the sturdy Italian engineethe supplier of the tent that sheltered me. For anyone going to Iceland, i would definitely recommend northbound as the best way to see the country. Their service and quality was incredible- if we had any questions duthe supplier our trip they were very responsive to emails and had great suggestions for things to do duthe supplier our stay.

The supplier was exactly what my friends and I were looking for. The roof top tent on the Ford Escape 4WD worked perfectly for our 8 day trip around the country. the supplier was extremely helpful in giving advice about what to see and do while in Iceland, along with the services they provide. Highly recommended!!!

We didnt get to use the tent because of heavy winds in Isafjordur, but the car was nice (and probably the tent would have been nice to). The staff at the supplier was very helpfull and nice.

We had such a great experience with this company! We rented a Ford Escape with a roof tent so that we could easily road trip around the the supplier road for the week we were in Iceland. We went in March so we're expecting lots of different weather. We instantly got a good impression from the supplier and it's staff at the airport, when they picked us up at the airport at 6am, an hour earlier than they said they would, so we didn't have to wait until the company opened in the morning. They set us up very quickly with our rental once we got to their office, and we're on our way within 30 minutes! The car was great on the road as well! We hit a number of blizzards and both the car and the tent held up better than expected each time! In fact, multiple times duthe supplier the road trip we mentioned to each other that we were so happy we went with this option as opposed to a rental van or camper, because it was so much more fun and authentic to be traveling with the roof tent, and the car worked perfectly in the weather and snow. Both were spacious enough for the two of us and all of our bags to fit comfortably too. When we returned to the rental company at the end of the trip, the agent took us to the airport immediately and dropped us off. He made it extremely easy for us the entire time! We really recommend using this company and using a car with a roof tent if you're deciding between multiple companies--especially if you are adventurous and looking for a more authentic experience that is cheaper than buying a newer, expensive 4x4 option from another company. The supplier offered us a great experience! They picked us up from the airport for free, and dropped us off at the end of our trip. They prepared us for everything we needed to know about how to use the tent and tips on how to get around Iceland. The car was a perfect camping combination for Iceland: 4x4 SUV and a roof tent that was well-insulated against the cold. I think that type of car is the best way to get around Iceland!
