This type of car is perfekt for Island if you also want to travel on F-roads and in the hihglands.

My two daughters (in their 20’s) and myself rented a van with the extra battery, gas stove (2 gas canisters) dish ware, cutlery, table & chairs. We brought our own sleeping bags but the sleeping bags & pillows provided were of good quality. It rained hard 2 of the 7 days & drizzled most nights, so we were grateful that we were not tenting. The extra battery kept our fridge running and provided heat during the night (4 hrs when not plugged into electricity as it would need to be recharged while driving) The 2022 Renault Trafic automatic vehicle handled well and the three of us were able to sleep comfortably side by side. We purchased the extra insurance for peace of mind and glad we did as some of the sights took us on gravel roads (not F roads) which were rougher than expected. The vehicle was rented thru Rent.is and upon pick up the review of the workings of the vehicle was quick which led to some confusion on how the extra battery worked. Drop off was easy but the pick up at the arrivals in the airport was a bit confusing, we missed the first shuttle as the sign held by the shuttle driver was small and contained multiple company names, but does come every 15 min. Overall the camper van fit our needs travelling the ring road and gave us a great experience!

Together with my family (total 3 persons), we really enjoyed the 2024 Crosscamp Lux 600 Manual from Rent.is - for more than 12 days to tour Iceland this early July 2024. This brand new 2024 Crosscamp Lux 600 was fully equipped to accommodate 4 persons as well as the potential weather challenges of the island. Halfway we were challenged by the delicate modus operandi of the mobile roof that provides two additional beddings. The locking system is not easy to operate and were forced to service the mobile roof as one of the two locks was defective. We received good support from Rent.is that found a mechanical shop in Akureyri. Thus pay additional care when operating the mobile roof. In April 2024, we tried to book this 2024 Crosscamp Lux 600 via Northbound.is website, but payment was declined (while using a few different credit cards), therefore we end up booking via Rent.is - but with a 10% mark-up - we found not very fair - depite our report to Northbound... no solution were offered. Other than this minor defect, the 2024 Crosscamp Lux 600 is flexible and easy to drive considering roads, gravel roads, rain or windy conditions. We've elected to stay in campsite most of the time to benefit from their space, logistic and local recommendations as well as utilities. Therefore, we have not or sporadically used the restroom, showers of the camper. Still we recommend this 2024 Crosscamp Lux 600 Manual for a trip in Iceland, if you elect using a camper. Takk.

This vehicle is very easy to drive and the matress, pillows and sleeping bags are very confortable. We are 65 years old and we apreciated our road trip (13 days) with this Fiat Doblo Maxi Manual!

Really nice van, everything worked perfectly well. Just the heater was broken (smoke in and outside the van) but we called them and they said they could come to fix it. Because we just had 3 days to travel, we decided to not use it for the rest of the trip, but it was very nice of them. Best price we found, definitely worth it! Just one thing : it was written we could let the van wherever we want, but we could just return it at the office location.

Great customer service, quick and reliable shuttle, and a quality rental vehicle. Two suggestions (don’t forget, we loved everything else!): - offer a map of places to get propane and dump the rv black tank, along with hours of operation. As a tourist this was really hard to find and figure out, and we ended up missing the opening hours (too late the night before and too early in the morning before our flight) so we had to pay the terribly expensive fee to leave the black tank un-emptied! We realize it’s our responsibility but that task has to be left to the last minute (literally) and knowing where to do this would have saved stress (and money) - write a short ‘cheat sheet’ of how to use the various equipment and components of the rv/van. It’s a lot of info to take in at pickup and, even though we are seasoned campers, each vehicle is different and a quick reference sheet would be helpful. For example, it took us a few tries to get the heat working at night and by then it was too late. The mechanicals on each vehicle are slightly different. But we loved this vehicle for our family of 4 and our short trip around Iceland!
