Northern Lights Car Rental in Iceland

We ended up with a similar Hyundai. It worked out great for us! The customer service was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Iceland!!!

Very good service, friendly team, smooth and efficient pick up and drop off to the airport. The handling agent was courteous and gave us advice on driving in Iceland which was both accurate and welcome despite this being our second trip. The vehicle was well maintained and thus reliable. We will definitely book our next jeep with Northbound!

We had a great experience with Northern Lights Rental! I accidentally put the wrong day to pickup but when we got there the following day, the car was still waiting for us. It did great on all of Iceland’s roads. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend them to anyone looking to rent a car while in Iceland. They have very affordable rates compared to a lot of the other companies! Thanks for helping us experience Iceland!

We rented a small 4X4 with a roof tent for 6 days. I have to say it was brilliant - great experience. The car was good, clean and working as it should. I did what needed to be done and got us where it was needed. Iam happy with the rental and the staff. No hassle no issues. Thank you

I had a great experience with the car rental. Good vehicle, only downside I can think of that it wasn’t cleaned on the inside before I got it. Had to throw out garbage and sweep out some sand. Won’t let that take away the overall great time and experience we had. Perfect vehicle for my family.

Martin is the best. Friendly, straightforward and gave good advice. Not only that, but kind as he recognized an error in judgement that we made concerning sleeping bags and he let us have a 2nd for free. (We were going to cut costs by using only one by unzipping it to make it bigger). Would definitely use again.

The car had 3 warningligth illuminated i the dashbord. It was only the lamdasonde. But it was not fun driving alone on F roads. With motor warning ligth on. Apart form this it was a nice car . And it did work perfekte.

Great prices and booking was really easy. Pick up at the airport was easy, and we were given a diesel car which saved quite a bit of money on fuel. Staff at the rental agency were very thorough and instructions for pick up and return were clear. The car was in very good condition and exactly what we needed.

Pick up time was 13.00 pm, but no one showed up at the airport. Unfortunately, neither Northern Lights Car Rental or Northbound were reachable per phone. After 2 hours we managed to reach Northern Lights and they picked us up. Afterwards everything was fine, even if the office of Northern Car Rental doesn't convey the most serious impression (Not reachable, all the guys working there in tracksuit pants, building under construction...). The Trip with the Jimny was very good and everything worked well. The roof tent is very comfortable and the sleeping bags were warm and proper. There was unfortunately no AUX port as promised on the booking. The reservation on my creditcard is not deleted yet, so i hope that everything will be OK and it will be cancelled regarding that we haven't made any scratches or similar and brought back the Jimny in wonderful condition. So after some strggles at the beginning, it was all in all a very nice trip with this car and the rental worked well. Thank you.

We were 2 people and went all around the island, traveling on 4200km. Procedures to take and return the car were fast and everything was clear. The roof tent was easy to deploy, very convenient and confortable. The Suzuki Jimny is a good small 4x4, sufficient for 2 people. As is it a small 4x4, river crossing on F roads is discouraged (it can cross around 35cm deep rivers). The cabin can be quite noisy on bad quality roads. Fuel consumption was around 8L/100km (gasoline engine). This is quite good compared to 20L/100km of big 4x4 cars ! Prices were among the best we could find ! We recommend Northbound services !

The roof tent was awesome. The truck was the bare minimum for F roads; however, that is what I signed up for. The truck is near is end of life - shocks are worn out - very rough ride on washboard roads.

We were quite hurry to catch up the travel schedule when we picked up the car since the flight was delayed 4 hours, such we did not pay attention to check the quality of the car at the rental office. And were very surprise to notice that the car had run over 180000 kilometers after driving 2 hours, and had to change our travel plan to avoid any rough roads because of the age of the car. It is a lesson learned for us!

Everything went OK, no new damages to the car so we got smooth return. As for price comparison it was very good offer.

Very professional company. I rented a Suzuki Vitara from Northern Lights Car Rental (with full Premium Insurance). There were no issues. I strongly recommend this Car Rental.

The car was not very clean at the pick up. There was chocolate on the drivers seat and dirty windscreen from the inside. The sensor for automatic cruise control did not work and the window on the front passenger side did not close properly. The rest was ok.

The tent was perfect: easy to set up, easy to take down. The car itself was in good condition but used a lot of gas quickly.

The representative was amazingly helpful and friendly. The care was great!

Very good experience with these guys. Friendly service, everything was exactly as advertised. In retrospect, I would have chosen a vehicle with a little more power than the Jimny, but that's purely a personal preference and no reflection on the rental company.

I like it very much. We were very satisfied with the car.

Everything went extremely well. We were picked up from the airport earlier than we scheduled and we had no problems returning the car. We purchased the extra gravel insurance and it really saved us. We ended up cracking our windshield and getting dents from the roads, and we didn't have to pay anything extra. It may seem like an extra unnecessary cost, but it saved us a lot of money in the end. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling beyond Reykjavik. Overall, great experience with Northern Lights Car Rental. Friendly and helpful staff.

I was a bit confused as when I got to the airport it was Northing Lights Car Rental when I booked online on Northbound? Otherwise, the system was easy, reasonably priced, and a successful rental overall.

The car was ok, but you rent a 4x4 and your staff said me that I can not go in water ??? Very surprise And the caution of 2500 € is a problem because I can use my card until 5000€ and I was bloked after a week in Iceland
