Lava Car Rental in Iceland

We never made it to Iceland. We are re-scheduled for May,1,2,3,4.Our pipes froze and we did not dare leave the house. Our friends took over the car lease and said it worked well.

Very good experience, met at airport and a 5 minute drive to Lava Cars, car as booked and all information explained and advice given on weather, driving conditions and petrol stations. Drop off very easy and couldn't fault this rental or Lava Cars

Everything went smoothly. From picking us up at the airport to returning the car and getting a lift back too :) Everyone was very helpful and friendly.

Great experience!! A representative from LAVA Auto met us at the airport and drove us the short distance to their offsite office. The car was very similar to what I wanted to rent (small SUV but because it was a Hyundai instead of a Toyota SUV they gave me GPS for free!) and was in excellent condition. The office staff were friendly and efficient and answered all of our questions. When it was time to leave, we dropped the car off at Lava and a staff member took us immediately to the airport. Would definitely rent from them again in the future!

Very obliging and helpful services. Transport between office and airport is fast. A welcome coffee is included.

The service provided my Lava Autos was superb. I cannot recommend them enough. From start to finish, we had an amazing time in the campervan. I highly recommend the company. You will not be disappointed.

Our experience was very positive. We were picked up at the airport, our drivers was helpful. Once we got to the Lava office it was quick and painless processing our rental. Our rental was clean and we had no issues. Our return was just as smooth. We will definitely rent from Lava again. Thank you

Overall, our experience was good. I was pleased with the Duster we rented. It handled well, it was nice having the studded tires and 4WD, and it got good mileage. All the employees were helpful, tried to assist when we had questions, and definitely helped out when I messed up and fueled with unleaded in a diesel tank. I don't remember who did all the "footwork" in getting a mechanic out to us on New Year's Day but that was huge for us and I thank that employee and the company for that assist. Only issue we had was with the portable Wi-Fi. Didn't work initially apparently due to not having the sim card paid up. It did get resolved the first time. However, the next day the Wi-Fi stopped working again and we were never able to get it back up and functional. I was told we'd be reimbursed for the whole charge on the Wi-Fi which I appreciate. Overall, I'm pleased and would rent from Lava again if and when we make it back to Iceland.

We had a great recent experience with Lava Auto. I kept researching rental companies and reading about winter driving in Iceland and finally choose Lava due to some very positive reviews about price, quality and support. The pickup process was easy – they weren’t at the airport when we arrived but were there within five minutes. They gave us a good overview of the car, noting the GPS, spare tire, emergency numbers, offered us bottles of water and answered any questions we had. We rented a Hyundai Tucson 4X4 with studded snow tires. The vehicle was clean and well maintained. The car performed beautifully and the return process was just as simple. I would recommend using Lava without hesitation.

Simple and stress-free booking through Northbound. Was a fantastic trip, so glad we hired a car for our stay. The guys at Lava Auto were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a great experience!

It was a great experience right from booking to picking up the car(after being received at the airport) and dropping it off at the end. Very smooth ,efficient and courteous service.Excellent car which could handle the winter roads .Great space for 5 adults with 5 cabin size bags and one collapsible bag and winter jackets! The GPS was super and the complimentary WIfi was a boon.

Oh, the Dacia Duster. Many jokes were made about this thing on the road, but it got us where we were going. Don't expect luxury. Or even really an interior layout that makes sense. But then, it's the cheapest 4x4 you're going to find, so it's a win in terms of value. Pro tip: to put it in reverse, you've gotta lift the little ring thing on the shift knob. Lava Auto was great too. There was a Holiday special for free WiFi with the complete care coverage, so we opted for that after finding out just how small gravel damage had to be for them to count it against you (which is kinda lame, but seems to be the way it is with all the rental places). Great coffee machine in the lobby though. And they also gave us a personal ride to the airport when we dropped the car off right after a shuttle had left.

Everything went very smoothly. A Lava representative met us at the airport and drove us to the rental location and we were on our way within a few minutes. The Duster proved to be a perfect car for our adventures.

Everything was well organised, they picked us up in time at the airport, the car was brand new (not damaged!), it had winter tyres with studs. The drop-off was very simple and clear

Greetings from Canada!!! I was picked up from the KEF airport by a gentleman who had a sign with my name on it. I felt special as soon as I landed, to entering the office, and then finally returning the vehicle. The mechanic of the shop was just as friendly. Do not shy away from this company as they will go through all of the details thoroughly regarding your rental. They are conveniently located a few minutes away from KEF aiport. 5/5 Rating LAVA AUTO CAR RENTAL is the right way to go if you are looking to explore the country on your own. Takk

The vehicle lived up to my expectations. It handled well in the weather, had all the features and equipment I wanted. However, I would have liked more information about how the van worked, what it came with, how to use things, etc. We had no idea whether the heater ran off the car battery or external battery for example. Also, the check engine light came on which was worrisome.

Very good. Coordinating the car pickup with Lava Auto, especially given a significant flight delay which had put us behind schedule, was clear and efficient, the vehicle performed very well, and drop-off instructions were clear.

Everything ok. Already waiting for me at the airport with identification and a plate with my name. Car was exactly what was presented at the renting. One note for the cover of the baggage compartiment that was not present but didn't influence on any aspect since Iceland is probably the most secure place I ever been :)

Excellent! The campervan came with complete features / tools / utensil as advertised, and much more better than other campervan that my friends rented from other companies.
