Lagoon Car Rental in Iceland

My experience with Lagoon was outstanding from start to finish. Upon arrival at Keflavik, they were already there waiting for me as promised. Our shuttle driver assisted with luggage and got us quickly to the rental office where another staff member walked us through the rental process thoroughly but didn't oversell the additional insurance coverages or dissuade us from taking pictures of the car; in fact, he encouraged it. The car was essentially new, immaculate, and clearly well cared for. Upon return, we alerted the young lady on duty at the time that we were VERY late for our departing flight.... The shuttle had just left BUT she offered (we accepted of course as we only had 30 minutes before our flight departed) to take us in the car we were returning. Not only did we make our flight but we didn't need to move the luggage yet again. After having been burned in the past with other rental car companies, I can't say enough about how above board Lagoon Car Rental operates and how well they treat their customers. I only wish I remembered everyone's names to publically praise them!

Efficient service though somewhat remotely located from the main airport terminal. Experienced difficulty refueling the vehicle at turn-in and was charged in Euros (61.00) at the main office rather than Icelandic Krona. Is this done to increase the exchange rate to Kronas? Vehicle drove well and we experienced no problems.

I got a good deal on a great reliable car from Northbound. I highly recommend this Northbound for the car rentals.

Our rental experience through Lagoon could not have gone much smoother. We arrived earlier in the morning and our shuttle was earlier as well. It took a minute to find them among all the other companies. The car was in great condition with good winter tires. Previous dings and scratches were well marked and they even gave us a flash light to assist us while we verified the condition of the car. We choose to use our own insurance through our credit card and there was no hassles with that as well. The car performed perfectly and when we returned the car it was only a five minute shuttle back to the airport. One note - make sure you have some form of insurance. The weather changes constantly and I feel that with the other tourists on the roads your chances of an incident is high. 5 stars for Lagoon.

Our pick up to the rental agency from the domestic airport was a little late despite confirming with Lagoon Car Rental about my flight and arrival time. The procedures at the office was simple, fast, and we were driving our rental probably within 20 minutes of our arrival to the office. The Kia Rio was in great shape, and drove well on the roads (sometimes covered with snow). Returning the car was a little strange. We had a very early flight (7am) from the international airport so when we arrived at the drop-off point around 5am, it seemed there was no one there. Turns out there was employee sleeping in the office (presumably for this kind of situation) who pretty much told me to drive the car to airport with him. He didn't even check the car so I hope I don't get unexpected surprises later on my credit card, because I think we returned the car in the same condition (minus the the effects of the Icelandic weather).

I rented a Kio Rio (diesel) with Blue Lagoon Car Rentals through Northbound and found the process seamless. The metacrawl data that the site provided helped find a lot of options and I was able to make the right choice for me and my trip.

The rental process was smooth and easy. Everything was okay but some minor issues with the car started to show up on the second day. However the customer service was good and able to help us to solve the issues. Also we ran into some problem with the road condition and the customer service also helped us. Overall quite happy with the service but would suggest to check the car thoroughly before handing over to the customer. Having issues with the car during the holiday was not fun.

We found great people working there and a great service.

The Lagoon Car Rental is spectacular . The staff are very friendly and helpful . The advice to take extra insurance coverage is sound and reasonable . Even though we did not get the car Hyundai i20 we got an equivalent car -Renault Clio (Diesel) . The rental rate is reasonable for such car . The extra service such as picking us up and drop them by off at the airport made everything so convenient to us especially this was our first time travelling to Iceland . I love Iceland very much and also the people of Iceland . The country is cold but the people are warm and friendly .

The service excellent and fast. My car was perfect. They provided me with tons of information. I’d definitely rent from them again!

Excellent - the rental car was extremely clean with very low mileage and came standard with winter tires, which gave us peace of mind driving around the island.

We collected from the airport and brought to the Lagoon Car Rental Office a short journey from Keflavik. The Lagoon staff were helpful and explained everything very well. Our car was very clean and the Kia Sorrento 7 seater was big enough for 6 men and their bags. We took out the extra insurance to reduce the potential claim from 3490 euros to 690. We had an early return flight which require us to be at Lagoon's offices around 4:30AM. When we arrived there was no one there as they were dropping others off at the airport about 10 minutes away. There were 2 other cars arrived while we were waiting and when the Lagoon guy arrived a bit of confusion as to who was first(us!). Once he checked the car he was very fast and told the others he couldn't take everyone so he dropped us first and came back for the others after. The Return wait and drop off took about 20 minutes all told. I should point out that the staff did tell us to allow for 2.5 hours before departure for returning the car. All told a smooth enough experience and I would be happy to use Lagoon again.

We ended up with a Kia Rio. It had some interior shaking issues, but otherwise ran fine.

Great experience, excelent service. Did not like the fact the did not explain us that we had a token with gas discount.

Our trip was awesome and the car worked very well. Even though the socket for GPS Navigator does not work, they gave us unlimited Wi-Fi router instead which is more convenient for us since we are familiar with Google Maps. We are very happy with the service and I would like to recommend this car rental company to my friends if they are going to Iceland.

At first, I was waiting for someone from lagoon for a long time so I thought there is something wrong , I just ask the receptionist att the airport. He kindly call to lagoon for us . at the same time lagoon has arrived airport after that everything just fine. so lagoon car rental is satify me moreover the process to return car is as quick as I want.

On the whole my experience with Lagoon car rental was good - the person we met with to sign paperwork and take the car from was not the most friendly or helpful of employees. However the car was in good condition, we had no problems with it and the employees that we signed the car back to were kind, friendly and helpful. Using northbound proved to be smooth and efficient.

I didn't get the car I selected, but was given an equivalent compromise (which was slightly disappointing). When I completed payment, I was told that damage is quite common and was asked to buy the additional insurance to reduce risk. While it is true that the risk is definitely less, there was little to no reason to actually pay the additional fee. If i was more familiar with the road conditions in Iceland, I would definitely not have taken it! On hindsight, with the additional cost of the insurance addon it was definitely not the most affordable option out there, which was why I initially decided to go with northbound.

My experience was great. Pick up and drop off was on time and the car was clean and in a good condition.
