Northern Lights Car Rental in Iceland

We had a wonderful experience

It was a great experience hiring a Suzuki Jimny to travel around Iceland and comfortable to enjoy of the ring road

We hired a Jimny from Northern Lights for our trip around Iceland. We were met at the airport and taken to our car. The pick up process was really easy and we were given some very useful information about the car and driving in Iceland. We were even provided a Wireless Internet router which was invaluable during our trip as we needed access to google maps. I cant recommend Northern Lights rental enough!

Northern Light Car Rental was easy to work with. They provided pick up at the airport and explained how to use the tent system on top of the jeep. The Jeep was a little old but it was perfectly functional. The top tent was very easy to set up and worked well for us on our trip. The only gripe I would have is that they charged us for the license plate on the front of the vehicle missing. The winds were extremely high while we were there and the front license bumper was not solidly attached to the vehicle and was not properly maintained so it flew off in the wind, but I was charged for it. Other than that it was a very positive experience.

The 4WD car had about 125,000 miles on it, but it came exactly as advertised and performed well. The included wi-fi was very helpful. There was no pressure to buy unnecessary insurance, and there were no extra charges for claimed damage at the end of the rental. The only negative is that the car pick-up and drop-off point is about 10 minutes away from the airport, but we were met at the airport and driven back there by Northern Lights at the promised times.

Everything went smoothly. We were picked up at the airport and the car was picked up at our hotel in Reykjavik when we were done. Amazing way to experience Iceland at your own pace and an adventure.

My experience was superb. I had a really nice customer service, easy peasy rental and a wonderful, clean car. Nothing to complain about at all. The pick up and drop off service was easy going, quick and extremely useful.

Northern Lights car rental went very well. Picked up at the airport, got to our vehicle quickly, and everything was as expected. Thanks for supporting our amazing trip to Iceland!!

Everthing was fine!

Excellent! Pick up was waiting when we arrived (I think the poor chap may have been waiting a while. It took some time to get through customs). Car was clean, and ran excellent with no issues. A bit higher mileage than North American rentals, but from research I know that's normal. Staff at NL were friendly, no pushy up-sells on insurance, which was a concern going into it. Deposit was returned promptly. All in all, a fantastic experience.

The rental pick up and return were painless and very fast. We rented Jimny with rooftop tent for 10 days. The only problem we had was windy nights. There were 2 nights when we had to evacuate the tent because how windy it got. But the overall experience was good. I think I would rent a camper next time.

I rented a Suzuki from 2015, but got one from 2013 with already 128800 km. Day 11 the engine was overheating because of a broken cooling belt. Lucky we were close to the town Egilsstadir. The person from Northern Lights Car rental gave us a good phone support. The car was quickly repaired en redelivered. If this had happened two days earlier in Kerlingjarfjöll, it would have been terrible. So we were very lucky, not ? We read on their site : Opening hours In Keflavik we are open 24/7 This was not the case. We had to choose the hour of return. So we were very surprised about this.

It was really good. Everything worked as booked and the car was in great condition.

Hi, Our experience with the car itself was not as good as we expected. The car was pretty old, it had 155.000km on the clock and was not comfortable to be driven at all, brakes clutch, transmission, direction control, suspension, everything has to be checked and repaired in that car prior renting it. Icelandic roads are rough and sometimes can be dangerous in a car like that. The rooftent was in the same condition as the car, pretty old with holes everywhere (we had to buy duct tape to repair it). Although the pick-up at drop-off with NL was really easy going, and the staff was friendly as well. We are coming back to Iceland soon (hopefully) and we will try another car rental company and maybe a different car also, but we will most probably use Northbound again as the website and customer service is good.

The car was very good. We were crossing the island and also driving on f-roads therefore we were glad to have this car. The car was in very good shape, we had no problems with it also not in the highland. The pick up on the airport and the handover of the car was very well organized. Also we had a change request for the giving back of the car at the end of our tour, we did it by phone and mail and it worked best. We can unreservedly recommend the Northern Lights Car Rental.

Voiture : roue de secours usée jusqu'au témoin, suspension à mon avis usée, volant qui vibte tres fort à 70 km/h, consommation excessive Nous avons du payer +de 50 euros pour 6 heures de location en.plus (restitution prévue à 23h et nous l avons rendu à 5h)

Service was good and the car was well-maintained. We had no problems in using on normal paved and unpacked roads as well as up in the mountains on rocky and wet F2 tracks. But the baby Jimny with the roof top tent might had been too much for this small car particularly on highway when driving over 80km per hour or on very windy days when the car should be driven with great car due to shaking. I would prefer a tougher model in my future trips.

Everything was fine, guys in the rental company were super nice and helpful. Car was a little bit old but without any defects.

The Vitara was absolutely great and we enjoied every minute :-) Also the whole rental experiance was Amazing! The guys we met were super friendly and very helpful! Next time in Iceland we surely rent with NL!!!

We really enjoyed the Suzuki Jimmy rented from Northern Lights. We were also provided with a mobile hotspot so we had very reliable WiFi everywhere we went! Everything from NL was excellent, including the complimentary airport pick up and drop off service. We would definitely rent from NL aga8n!

Super positive, the car was well fitted and worked property according to my needs.

Searched the Internet for all rental car options for my trip to Iceland. Wanted a F4 vehicle so I could access sites beyond paved roads. Also wanted a camper for mixture of camping and hotel. Northern Lights had the best price and quickly responded to my various questions prior to arrival. Was worried about their off airport location, but was greeted at airport and transported easily to their facility. Return Sunday morning 7:00am for my flight was not an issues either. Friendly and professional rental cars for the right price.

Der Shuttle Service zum Northern Lights Parkplatz hatte gut geklappt. Die Abwicklung der Automietung war problemlos und es gab einen Upgrade zum bestellten Fahrzeug. Für das WIFI inklusive im Fahrzeug hatten wir uns sehr gefreut. Danke dafür!
