Nordic Car Rental was a great company to work with. I could easily choose a vehicle on-line and received all of the needed information @ airport pick up. The driver was not there when we arrived but I phoned the company and he had completed his transportation of another passenger and arrived soon after my phone call. There were no extra expenses. Renting cars in Iceland is not cheap but our car was in wonderful working order. We are happy with our choice. We did not drive on any "F" roads and that made our car choice easier.

I expect everything to be more professional as they forgot to hand in the GPS and check the tires. Beside these, everything was good.

Slightly inconvenient not being on-site at the airport, slow to handle paperwork to receive car (one attendant and several parties in line), car was great no issues at all, drop off was easy and quick. Everyone was helpful and nice. Seemed like a smaller, possibly up and coming company due to their "office" but we can't complain.

For our Iceland trip we searched a 4wd car that meets the following claims: - suitable for 4 adults with 4 big pieces of luggage - suitable for driving F-roads at any weather condition - overall in a good repair but NOT in mint condition - technical facilities for driving all icelandic roads - convincing price-performance ratio We did not set a high value on: - optical condition and little damages - cleanliness inside the car Altogether, Northbound fulfilled our expectations. There were some technical features like seat heating, remote central locking, CD and MP3 player that did not work, but nevertheless the car brought us on every road to any place. Booking and delivery of the car worked well. Still much success for you and kind regards.

We were "upgraded" to a BMW X-drive, which was delivered to Geysir at Harpa in Reykjavik 1 1/2 hours late. The car ran poorly. It has a drivetrain problem and acceleration is rough. At one point, I could not accelerate at all. But we had to keep the car because we were on a tight time schedule. Returning the car was chaotic. We went to the Keflavik office, which was closed, then to the airport office, which was hard to find. Good thing we had enough time before our flight. Orange never notified us of these changes.

On arrival, getting the car was slow - once we had been met, we had to wait for minibus to make a return journey before picking us up and taking us to the rental office, then a further long wait as it was clearly very busy. So from meeting lagoon at airport to getting car was actually 1 1/2 hours. Perhaps would be better if once we had taken our numbered ticket at office we could have been told there was a long wait etc., just so we knew given we had 3 kids in tow. But it was warm and there are toilet facilities which was helpful. The car it self was fab, no problems, all smooth. Dropping the car back was also much quicker, thank goodness, as if it had been the same as on arrival, everyone would be missing flights. I do not know if this is simply as it was less busy or whether it is because the ticketing system prioritises car returns given there is a flight to catch- either way, was a way better experience dropping back, apart from the glum feeling that comes with having to leave your wonderful Iceland!

The car was in poor condition for a vehicle supposedly less than 2 years old. The body work had very many scratches and chips with a crack on the front spoiler which we had to point out on collection. The seats in the car showed a great deal of wear ( much worse than my 9 year old car with135000 miles on the clock!) they had to be cleaned again before we took the car as they were muddy, The car itself performed well but we were left feeling dissatisfied as in all the years we have rented cars we have never been given one in such poor condition. When the condition of the car was pointed out the staff member didn’t seem to be bothered, not even apologising for the state of the seats

We were very satisfied with the car.Good service.We recommend that the representative of the company meets the clients at the exit,where all passengers come out, with the name of the client, written on a sign.It would be nice that this person has some kind of recognition sign on his clothes,like an emblem for example.We had a little problem when we returned the car.There was not place to park it .May be the company can do something about it in the future.We still mean, that we can recommend your company to other people.Good car,good service and acceptable prices.

Sorry for the delay in writing this well deserved review for both Northbound and Wild Campers.....just getting settled back in from a great trip! Our experience with both companies: very easy to coordinate and book with, and to get response from when questions arose about a pickup (my fault!). Jonas at Wild Campers was very helpful, informative and easy to work with. The camper experience was great, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone as a way to get out and see Iceland. Overall, everything was as advertised and we couldn't have asked for more! Thanks so much for the help in every way - it will be a trip to be remembered.

We had a very satisfactory experience with Northbound. We rented a Dacia Duster. Our car was ready when we arrived, and it was in good condition. It was older than we expected, but it worked great and was rugged and dependable on the F roads. Our checkout experience was very quick and easy. There was a question about a chip in the windscreen. Fortunately we had taken pictures of the car before starting out, so that was easily resolved. The people who took care of us were friendly and professional.

Outstanding!
Lagoon car rental picked us up at the airport and drove us to their car lot. Our car was clean and ready to go, and served us well on our Iceland vacation. The return process was quick and easy and we were at the airport within half an hour after we pulled up to return the car. (I only wish navigating the Reykjavik airport could have been as easy). I would rent from then again.

I found car rentals on northbound the cheapest and with complete transparency. The day of arrival and pickup was scheduled on time and we got keys to our car with little trouble as the security amount to be blocked on our credit card was a big amount and our cards didn't allow that much limit. Had to buy an insurance for complete collision to reduce that amount of risk. Recommend to atleast carry 2 credit cards. The car was fine all through out and gave a decent mileage!

It was not awesome. The Jimney was 6 years old and felt much older. Back door did not open from outside and locks did not work from the key fob. The Jeep was rusty and very dinged up when we got it yet we were made to feel like we could be held responsible for preexisting damage. That was stressful. If you’re going to rent out a beat up car, at least be chill about it.

There was an overbooking at icerental 4x4. So we had a shuttel bus for 1 day and to change again. The Nissan had some problems (no tools, turn signal did not work, shock guard was loose. But the cooperation with the company was excellent and satisfiing

Excellent
Service was good and the car was well-maintained. We had no problems in using on normal paved and unpacked roads as well as up in the mountains on rocky and wet F2 tracks. But the baby Jimny with the roof top tent might had been too much for this small car particularly on highway when driving over 80km per hour or on very windy days when the car should be driven with great car due to shaking. I would prefer a tougher model in my future trips.

Great experience, from pick-up to delivery. Brand new van, with barely 20,000 km, in mint condition. Everything else was as stated in their website. Would definitely rely on them again.

Average experience: I waited 30 min at the airport had to call them 3 times ; and the fuel consumption of he car was crazy. Rest was ok.

We rented two Dacia Dusters for a week. Both were good cars andere Ideal for Iceland. We rented at Arctic. Good to know the pick-up is at the building from Geysir.

Outstanding!
Great campervan, it was bigger inside than I had expected, plenty of space for 2 people and lots of luggage. It included curtains, the bed was easy to make up and included storage pockets on the back side windows which were great. The car was reliable, nice to drive and lagoon car rental provided a smooth transfer service to and from the airport.

Pickup was a mess. The facility was under staffed. We waited more than an hour to get our car, which really sucked when we were tired from a 6 hour plane flight. Giving the car back was hassle free which was a pleasant surprise.

Everything was as promised. The car was brand new (my voucher said 2013 so I did not mind). The vehicle ran very well, no concerns. I thought I was getting a 4WD vehicle, but my voucher did not say that. I was probably confused by the name of the Company (ICE-Rental 4X4). So nothing wrong with the car. it did everything I asked of it. good vehicle. The tent was adequate, we had some rain and managed to stay dry. Sleeping bags were almost too thin, we brought liners so that helped. We used the cooking stuff just to heat water for coffee/tea and freeze dried meals. It worked. The airport pickup did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. Expecting a guy holding up a sign with my name on it, or at least something that said "Northbound". But nothing. we were standing around looking lost in the Arrivals area for about 20 minutes. in the end I just started asking people there, and got lucky. Overall a good experience.
