Excellent
Everything was correct and as we had agreed. I think there is one point to improve, it would be good to sent a message when we are at airport waiting for our tranport pick up will arrive in a few minutes.

The car was an older model but in good shape, not many damages. The headlights were somehow a bit too weak for the Icelandic winter.

We waited over an hour for someone to pick us up at the airport, and someone only came after we made a couple of calls when the email stated that the shuttle go back and forth repeatedly.. Regarding this, we were quite disappointed. However, the person who picked us up from the airport was a wonderful person! On the ride to the rental office, he shared a lot of tips with us for our road trip in Iceland, telling us what to look out for. Back at the office, he went through the details of the insurance and car with me clearly even though I had read them online when I made the booking, which boosts the trust I have in the rental company. It’s a pity that I didn’t manage to get his name so I can commend him; all I know that he’s a new employee and that I’m his first customer, as he claimed. Very good service from him! Regarding the car, it’s a reliable car, although the buttons on the steering wheel were not functioning. Overall, the car rental is reasonably priced and is definitely one of the cheaper ones as compared to the same model from other companies, which is really attractive to people. Also, GPS is included compared to other companies where you have to pay extra for, though the GPS needs some updating. I would highly recommend Northern Lights Car Rental to people doing a road trip in Iceland, although the airport shuttle (especially pick-up) can be improved.

Hello Thor, hello guys, First of all, Iceland and whole trip was amazing. But really f***ing amazing, it beauty of your country and kindness of your people blew me away. About Suzuki, car is adequate for Iceland roads. It is well equipped, and it has amazing heating system. It is comfortable enough for 4 people. What I didn't like about it is that gas mileage is not great and it could use 6th gear. It's not a greatest SUV but it's ok, we clearly opted for cheaper solution and for what we payed it was quite good. One thing to watch out, guys please change batteries in key fobs, remote lock and unlock did not work in any of our cars. All in all car was good but experience itself was amazing. Icerental 4x4 was really good. All the staff were very kind and accommodating. They have a shuttle service to and from their office and the airport and are open 24/7. The only reason why I didn't give them an exemplar rating was because of a few reasons. 1) They were about 30 minutes late than the scheduled meeting time -- causing me to text their local number and thus, be charged mobile carrier rates -- and stress out a little bit. 2) The car we rented was in good condition, however in about the middle of our trip, one of the water pipes came out and we lost 2L of water. Thankfully we were at Akureyri (Iceland's 2nd largest town) and they have a service center in that area that solved the problem for me. The Icerental 4x4 staff was very helpful when we had the breakdown and made sure the problem was solved right away. 3) The large deposit required. I was asked to block €2,500 off my credit card as safety deposit for the car. I wasn't really aware of this as it was my first time ever renting a car and it is not blatantly stated on the website when booking, but it was explained to me when I was in front of their desk about to take the car. Of course, to avoid the deposit you can just pay for a premium insurance package. However, as a student and someone who is on a tight budget, I did not have the funds to pay for that kind of insurance, so I just opted to block that amount in my credit card (my credit card is tied to my mom's, so it's actually her credit too). It caused a lot of stress because I didn't clearly understand it and I was constantly worried about them frauding me and not releasing the block and thus charging me. I returned the car December 18th and it is December 27th today and as of now, the block still has not been released. They told me to wait at least about 14 working days from the day of returning the car for the block to uplift, so I will still give them time before following up. Overall, the car was good and we did not have any problems with it. Upon checkout, the staff were really nice and did not give me a hard time. We took extra care of the car, making sure to watch the doors when we open it in strong winds, inspecting every inch of it (make sure you take a video of it when you first receive it in order to account for all the damages incase they try to charge you for it in the end), making sure to drive in paved roads and to overall just drive carefully. When the staff checked the car, he did not see any new damages and thus did not charge us. We came to Iceland just after a huge storm and were worried that the car would not be able to brave the icy roads and strong winds, but it pulled through even greater than I could have imagined! It is also my first time driving in such conditions, and the car did not fail me. Also, another tip-- arrive to the office for return HOURS earlier than your flight. As I have read horror stories on previous reviews, sometimes they will inspect the car and give you a hard time and charge you or there might be no staff to accommodate you at the hour, causing you to be late for your flight and stress out. Luckily this did not happen to me and my friends, but as friendly advice do arrive to the office at least 4-5h before your flight -- worst thing that could happen is that you arrive early to the airport. Better safe than sorry!

The car itself was a good car for us to rent, good to drive, easy to use. There was 2 things that could have been better, the window on the drivers side did go down, but needed help up again. And the washer fluid for the frontwindow had frozen in the cold temperatures.

Everything was fine with the vehicle. There is just one point we landed at the airport at 10am we went to the arrivals to find your transfer driver who was not there. We asked at the information desk and they said your man collects people every 30min we waited until 10:45 am and then the information desk phone your office and was told that you would pick us up in about 15 minutes your driver did not turn up until 11:30am saying we had not stated a pickup time on our order. Looking at the confirmation i received it has a pickup time of 11am. Other than the above every thing was great.

The car was great and the staff were very nice, however there was some confusion with the pickup and we didn't get picked up until an hour after our designated pickup time. This was rather upsetting as it made us late for plans that we had. One, the sign used for pickup did not say northern lights car rental as the main company, but another company name instead, causing confusion. Additionally, the driver only stayed at the airport for about five minutes and did not ensure that all customers, including us, had been accounted for. I would suggest improving this part of the process.

I'm rented a 4x4 in December. My flight was postponed until the next day because Keflavik airport was closed ( weather reasons). I had warned Northern Lights Car Rental. Tomorrow, the agent couldn't no longer find our reservation. Once the car is in possession, after 15 min of driving, two orange LEDs light up. On the phone, we are told that it's nothing serious. Moreover, the wiper (water jet) didn't work. I'm disapointed especially in severe weather alert. It was the second time i came to island and the first time i rent by northern lights car rental

Fara is a young, enthusiastic and energetic team that provided a good user experience for our Iceland itinerary, and they were picked up in person whether we arrived in or left Iceland; the cars they provided were great, although the weather in Iceland was unpredictable , But the car provided us with a good safety guarantee. next time we will come to Iceland in summer and definately we will continually choose Fara.

Hi there, Our first Car from Icerental 4x4 was an old car and the heating stopped working when we were on the road, we had to stop in a little village, and call the rental service. In cause of this problem we had to change the car, after 2 hours they brought us a new car, but we lost half a day waiting for it (in our short journey). After that inconvenience we had a good trip around Reykjavik. When we brought back the second car to Rental Service the transaction was easy and fast.
