Firstly, the car stopped working just after less than 12h since I have rent it. The situation was made worse by the fact that the worker who answered my call was very rude and did not allow me to explain properly what was happening with the car. He kept insisting that it was a battery problem and ended up hanging up the phone before I could explain that it was not a battery issue. The replacement car was smaller than the car that I have rent, so I asked to change the car and arranged to pick up the new car at 9 am the next day at the location where we were in the country, but the car arrived 3 hours later. I am extremely disappointed with the service that I received from the company. The customer service that I received was lacking. The staff was unhelpful and unfriendly, and it seemed as though they were not interested in addressing my concerns. I had hoped for an stress-free and enjoyable vacation, but instead, I was met with frustration and I had waste lot of time during my holidays trying to solve this issue.

Very disappointed with the car. Very battered up. Engine light came on halfway through the trip. Doors were not sealed and air was penetrating everywhere. The worst is that they inspect the car on delivery as if there was nothing wrong with it. They intentionally look for something to charge you.

Hi , we had a great time in Iceland, but the Suzuki is out dated now, it was not a nice car to drive , a lot of thing in the car don’t work right, the high beam switch not working right, the door lock not working right, the hand brake was a joke ,the car was also pulling to the right what you was driving it , the car as got a lot of faults but the main one is for the head lights are so dull when driving in the dark , which made it hard to see the road

While the price was good, we were quite disappointed by the customer service we received. Despite booking well ahead of time through Northbound and arriving with all the instructed voucher numbers and documentation printed out, Icerental 4x4 had no record of our reservation. They gave our group a very hard time about fulfilling the reservation, and we arrived prior to Northbound's opening hours so no one was available to confirm our reservation or help. Eventually Icerental 4x4 did honor the reservation, for which we were grateful. When we left the parking lot, our car had a squeaking sound in the wheel that got progressively worse as we drove along the ring road. When we called for a mechanic, Icerental quickly responded with a traveling mechanic which was great. Unfortunately though, Icerental expected US to pay for the mechanic even though the problem existed before picking up the car. Would not rent from them again.

Would not recommend this company for your travels! The cars were not reliable! The clutch went out after about 4 hours and they tried to say it was a new clutch and we burned it out! Thank goodness my son-n-law knows a lot about cars and we did not pay for that. We also had trouble with another car so we spent a lot of down time waiting for the cars to be fixed! There has to be a better company to rent from then this one!

Finally we didn’t rent a toyota rav4 because company hadn’t any available. Instead of toyota they gave us a suzuki t cross. So we are very disappointed about this. Northbound was an excellent company though.

We were disappointed with the rented vehicle: the handbrake did not work, there was no more washer fluid. We did appreciate the heated seats, however ;-) The procedures for taking the vehicle are simple, we would have appreciated that the inventory of fixtures be established jointly with the lessor and this, to facilitate the inventory of fixtures when the vehicle is handed over at the end of the rental.

The car was good. The Service and the company wasn‘t as they barely could say „Hello,good morning“ or something Else. Really unfriendly - and we were Not alone with this opinion. You dont get a receipt about your deposit and when you bring the Car back you dont get a receipt either. They just say we closed the contract so we cant charge you anymore. Not very trustful. They go around the car and look for every little thing and of you dont made photos or a video before your leaving they will charge you because you have no Proof that the damage has already been on the car. Luckily we Made a Video - another couple Not. The drivers from and to the Airport were totally rude. Wouldnt Book there again. Would rather Pay More money without any possible surprises at the end. And Even if you have a Package for the extra insurance they exclude the Most of it pzr of the contract. The only nice Person was The one when we arrived in the Office. Sad.

The Suzuki we first got had just winter tyres no spikes. The car already run 280.000km. The door from the sidecar passenger was damaged. The wind was blowing throw the door and you could see the A-pillar throw the sealing of the door. On the second day the battery has crashed after we spent a half hour walking. Then I have called them and explained the problem with the battery. They said probably we have forgotten something to take off in the car. Probably it would be our Fault but when we do not feel safe with the car we could come back and change it. That is what we did. Then I explained the problem with the door. At this point the guy already noticed that a steel plate is missing at the door. I explained him that this probably has been already when we got the car because of the damage the door already has. Then he asked me if I had talked with someone about that already. I have denied that. Then he saw that I have a full insurance and than it was no problem anymore. Concerning the battery he said this was probably not our fault because the battery has crashed so fast After all we got a Kia Sportage. This worked quit well.

Pickup: nobody was there and there are a lot of companies with similar names so this was quite confusing. After waiting 10 minutes the driver arrived. Too many people crammed into the pickup bus (4 on the back seat instead of 3, 4 on the front seat including driver. Check in was fine. We received an 'upgrade' but later found out our upgrade was not a 4x4? Car was dirty, on the outside as well as inside (trunk). Lots of scratches. Tank was not completely full (80% full). We drove to the nearest tankstation to fill it up and clean it. when we returned the car they tried to blame one of the existing scratches on us, luckily we had made pictures of all the damages beforehand. Would not recommend :-(

We provided you with an upgrade and it was a 4x4 vehicle as booked. We do apologise if the vehicle was not clean like we take pride in. We would also like to point out that we did not blame for existing damage, but did ask for photos as there was a scratch that had been missed on the damage report signed by us and the renter. Hi Runar, Thank you for asking. The experience with Icerental 4x4 was not so good as expected. 1. Provided car was overused 140 000 km for Subaru Forester 2018 2. We had oil exposure within motor tank. In Rejkyavik I was seen some oil signs on the car, I have opened motor tank and saw there a lot of oil, we have contacted support, they checked and tell us that someone forgot to close oil tank, I have closed it manually.... I was a bit confused to listen it, why it was NOT checked... 3. Receiving a car was so slow...... we arrived at 1:00 a.m. and got car just around 4:00 a.m. 4. At the end we have paid 1100 euro for 2 scratches..... I still didnt get response from them, what is the real price and if I should get refund 5. The last one they charge deposite 3000 euro. First time I got such practice. Money still not returned to me Appreciate your interest, hope they will improve the service. BR, Yevgeniy

The car was surprisingly small although we did not take the smallest 4x4 car. It was difficult to fit in 5 person family with luggages. At arrival to the airport, I had agressiosta 16 a clock. I did not see any one meeting us. Then I called in at about 16:15. Then it took at least half an hour before we were picked up. Then there was not enough seating places in the car to the Rental. We had to sit on top of each other without seatbelts. When returning the car, the was a line of 4 families before us. That took some time and We did not fit to the first car going to the airport. The second one could fit us when sitting 5 persons in three seats. The car itself was fine.

Upon arrival, Icerental 4X4 did not have the vehicle we had reserved (a Renault Trafic van). Instead, they put us in a rusty 2008 Dodge Durango with 281,000 km. While the staff was professional and friendly, I would not rent from them again.

The rental itself was ok. The vehicle had done 228000km so wasnt perfect and had a crack in the windscreen. The interior had seen better days with the heated seat button having been lost into the panel. The concern from me is what company Icerental used for their vehicle maintenance as the day before we were due to travel back from Akureyri to Keflavik were were driving along and I noticed a wheel wobble. I got out to find that 3 wheel nuts had sheered off. Thankfully I had brought the car, with myself my wife and 4 year old, to a safe stop but this could have ended very differently particularly if it had been a heavy snow day! The recovery was arranged and collected in about an hour. We then were taken back to Akureyri where we had to wait for the fix. In total we lost about 4-5 hours of the trip. I understand there are vehicle defects but from mine and recovery drivers comments this is most likely to have been caused by incorrect wheel changing. In all the experience did tarnish my perception of Icerental and their vehicle maintenance. Would I use again, perhaps but after much more research on other companies and their vehicles

We had reserved two Suzuki Grand Vitara’s from Icerental 4x4 but only one reservation went through due to a error on their side. As a result, we weren’t on the list to be picked up from the airport, and this caused us to waste time at the airport. They ended up giving us two Jeep Grand Cherokees. The horns on the cars did not work, and there were many times drivers in Iceland suddenly stopped or tried to pull out suddenly in front of us, but we had no way of honking to let them know. We were lucky to not have gotten into an accident. As for Icerental 4x4 the company, they tried to make money off of every little imperfection in the car - thank goodness we had pictures and videos! Northbound should really look at the google reviews for Icerental 4x4 and reconsider offering their services.

Vehicle itself was in good condition but we did not receive the amenities that were guaranteed with the purchase including GPS and the picnic set that was added to the rental. We also had a rock crack the windshield and a small scratch on the lower driver side door that ended up costing us around $1300. We were not informed that there were options to upgrade our insurance plan to cover this type of damage until after we returned. With the given terrain conditions, the associate should have pitched that up sell on arrival. My card was charged for the damage last week but we have yet to receive the invoice for the repairs, so I have no idea if the repairs were actually performed on the vehicle or if someone just pocketed the money. I try to go with smaller businesses when I can, but I will head to a larger chain the next time I go to Iceland.

I didn't get support to use GPS from Icerental4x4 . We paid for GPS and the GPS is not user friendly, it only knows few places and couldn't put the address I wanted to go to. The people at the rental office are not cooperative to show how to use it and one guy suggested to use POI and was horriable experiance to go from one place to another. We ended up to come to the office by selecting Drop off option from the list and asked to drop us to our hotel as wecouldn't put the address to the hotel and we paid extra to go to airport next day

Found it difficult to close, especially since we are short. First night the zipper on one side broke so we couldn’t close it. Sleeping bags first provided were not warm enough. Second car we got was an old Jeep. Rear windshield wiper didn’t work. Was very disappointed in this rental! Would not recommend them.

The original rental we were given had done 120000 K, looked older than the car ordered and had to go back as had problem with suspension. That meant it had to go back after had driven to Grindavik. The next car we got had wet seats, appeared to have been through car wash with a window open. We took it and it dried out, but overall felt I would not use the company again.

On arrival the gentleman helping us was yelling at another couple who were wanting money back for their own rental. We were only given the choices of no insurance (which meant they would hold over $6000 of our only credit card for trip) or else we had to pay for the premium insurance, which we didn't need but had no choice to pay for because we did not have $6000. We were NOT advised of any of this before coming to the country. The tent on our vehicle smelled awful and had mold growing on the roof. Being allergic to mold I spent my vacation stuffed up with a headache. Also were given an N1 tag which was supposed to provide us with a discount on fuel that also did not work. Informed them of this on return of the vehicle and they seemed uninterested. Northbound seems a good rental agency but I would not rent from icerental again.

We had a lot of hassle in the beginning. The first car we got had a broken exhaust pipe and made terrible noise. The second one we were offered had a broken door to the driver seat, and we refused that car. The third we got was a Grand Cherokee that we drove for three days, then the ABS break warning lamps started to signal. We contacted Icerental 4x4 and they wanted us to make a 1,5 hrs detour to exchange the car. The fourth car we got was an almost brand new Hyundai SantaFee and this was in the end very satisfactory. This car had some ugly scratches in the front and luckily my wife took some photos of this before we drove off for the first time. This turned out to be very important when we returned the car. To my mind, it is a mutual obligation to document the damages on the car, both the renter and the owner should do their best...

When picking up the car the girl locked it accidentally while the engine was running and all our bags were inside. We couldn’t get in and had to wait for the guy from a special conpany to open the car for us which took a while. The car was in no good condition. There was a big crack in the windshield and the windshield whiper fell of ervery now and than. When we tried to return the car there was nobody at the kevlavik office. After calling the customer service they told us we can just leafe the car at the airport with the key inside. All in all we would not recommend you company to a friend or family, sorry

Pick-up at the AirPort and services were great. The car.. not so great :) I knew it wouldn’t be the best car (since I booked the cheapest one) but it was really dangerous. The engine just stopped working from time to time, and the breaks were finished. We didn’t feel safe driving around in it..

We rented this 4X4 for two weeks for our Ring Road trip across Iceland. The rental we received had well over 200,000 miles on it. We had issues with the vehicle also immediately. The first night we were driving we found the headlights were very dull. We had to use the brights which also didn't work properly. The brights would not stay on so we had to hold the lever while we drove. The security system on the car and key fab didn't work. Every time we opened the car the alarm would go off. Half way through the trip the back brakes started to grind. We had to bring the car to a mechanic to get it fixed which caused us to miss a full day of activities and loss money for those activities we had already booked. The mechanic who worked on the car said this happens often for this company Icerental4x4 which was upsetting to hear since we paid so much. Overall we had a bad experience with the car but appreciated the help of the mechanic in a time of need.
