Fara Car Rental in Iceland

I really want to expose how uncomfortable we are with everything around the car rental. Fara wants to charge me a damage that was on the car and I have demonstrated. Thankfully, as they suggested when we received the car on April the 2nd; we recorded a video where the damage is clearly seen. We haven’t received to date a single response from their side, and we’re not accepting a damage that was already in the car, specially when we were very careful with it at all time. We have done this with other companies before and none have blocked for 30 days a deposit of these amounts and none has ever expected different things from the ones posted on the site. They also picked up 30 minutes late. If we wouldn’t have called, no one would’ve picked us on the airport as promised. With you we had insurance charges that were never informed to us prior to our arrival. And now having this kind of e-mails where you expect us to pay for the repair of a scratch that was already done doesn’t speak very well from your company. We’re really hoping to finish with this process soon, and to have our deposit released from our credit cards as it’s blocking us from other attractions in other countries we are visiting.

Great overall experience.

Its a good experience. We book jeep compass but instead given a hyundai tucson ix35, told us that it is the same class. After that, everything is great. We drove circle the ring road and the car handled it well even in different climates. We had no trouble with the car. As for service, fara answered all my email prior to arriving to iceland and also helped me in my trip. Also they are on time when getting us back to the airport even it isnt office hours yet. Recommendable company. Will book again in our next visit!

We had a lovely well presented vehicle from Fara and Kris who was dealing with us picked us up from the airport and dropped us back. He was very polite and friendly also knowledgeable about where to vist to make the most of our trip. We would recommend booking with Fara for your trip.

I finished my trip to Iceland safely and am traveling to Paris. Iceland was able to do so because of the friendly staff who came to the airport to pick up and the staff who helped me quickly deal with the problems that had been caused by my mistake. Generally very well organised and a great experience. Good tips and advice from reception lady too. The vehicle was in a good condition and ran well. Would definitely use again and recommend to friends.

When traveling to another country there are times when things do not always go as planned. Keeping that in mind, there are things that could have gone better, but all in all everything turned out all right. The price was good and they had a vehicle large enough to fit our party of 9 which was great. I'm not sure if we arrived too early for the pickup shuttle (even though we had sent that info over way in advance) and so had to wait a bit for the pickup shuttle to arrive to the airport to bring the drivers to the rental office. Our vehicle was acting up when we started to drive off (would not accelerate) so we had to bring the car back but they managed to fix it. I think the whole pick up process took longer than what we were used to (luckily we had planned for any delay). Also be sure to take a picture of the gas and Ad blue tank in the start of rental (as they accidentally charged us for half tank of Ad Blue when we only had started off with half tank, but they refunded it once I showed the picture of it). Also they said they would place an ice scraper in the car, but there was none (used a broom from home rental instead). The car also needed a new headlight replacement and a check engine light during the second day so we had to spend the morning at the auto garage getting that fixed. We declined insurance as it was included in my chase reserve card, so when we got the inevitable pebble thrown at our windshield we paid FARA and then filed a claim with chase reserve. FARA was very very helpful and patient getting the necessary documents even though the insurance claim process was very drawn out. For a smaller auto rental company they were able to accommodate our unique car request and help us with our insurance claim/ car issues. Things happen so it is better to be prepared .
