Icerental 4x4 in Iceland

We had reserved two Suzuki Grand Vitara’s from Icerental 4x4 but only one reservation went through due to a error on their side. As a result, we weren’t on the list to be picked up from the airport, and this caused us to waste time at the airport. They ended up giving us two Jeep Grand Cherokees. The horns on the cars did not work, and there were many times drivers in Iceland suddenly stopped or tried to pull out suddenly in front of us, but we had no way of honking to let them know. We were lucky to not have gotten into an accident. As for Icerental 4x4 the company, they tried to make money off of every little imperfection in the car - thank goodness we had pictures and videos! Northbound should really look at the google reviews for Icerental 4x4 and reconsider offering their services.

We were disappointed at first as the Expedition wasn't available, but in the end the large box van worked out well and was probably the better selection with all our luggage and 6 people. We had plenty of room to stretch and did not have to sit on our luggage while driving the miles we did.

It was in general very good, although it would be great if they provided a shovel in the car since when it heavily snows car can get stuck in the snow, even 4x4.

Tired and sleepy from our overnight flight, we stumbled our way eventually to the area to find the pickup area for shuttle to car rental. It took a little while but once there we were happily on our Iceland adventure! The guys were helpful and quickly answered our questions. The car, a 2015 RAV4, 6 speed diesel with studded tires was excellent!

Very reliable car, got my fiancée and I all the way around the ring road. Handled well in the snow. My only concern would be the winter tires and how frequently they are changed out. We didn’t have that many studs on the back tires and we could feel the car slightly drift on the icier section of the ring road in the higher passes. Other than that, I enjoyed our vehicle selection.

It was very good. The vehicle was in excellent condition inside and the outside was very good as well, which when you consider some of the roads that you drive on in Iceland. I would recommend Iceland 4X4 rentals to anybody who needed a car for driving in Iceland. It always felt safe on even some of the snow covered and mountain roads. Send drive to me is far more enjoyable then booking a bus tour as it lets you go where you want and spend the time you want. I am very glad I chose Iceland 4x4 rentals for my 1 week trip. Why not 5? Just because the 4x4 was a little old, consumed at least 12l per 100km, some sandwich papers were inside and the doors, already weakened by the previous trips, are responsible for an infernal noise when the wind blows hard. Well, the staff were helpful, pleasant, available by phone. The agency provides trips between the agency and the airport. The return to the airport was very well managed at 5 AM. Congratulations. Despite its 280,000 km on the odometer, the 4x4 was flawless in snow and stormy weather.

Excellent vehicle, quick rental process at the agency, friendly staff. The only glitch: could you please put out a sign by the agency building near KEF and preferably a pointer sign or two nearby? The area is a maze of buildings, none of which appear to have the street address, that all look roughly similar. We spent 15 min trying to find the building. Other than that, I would rate you a 5.

The pick up part from the airport was a bit confusing as there were a lot of people with different signs. The driver from Icerental 4x4 was late, which caused some frustration. I would have liked to get an email in advance just explaining the procedure. Even though it’s probably stated somewhere we didn’t know about it at arrival (again my fault, but I’m guessing I’m not the only one with that experience) The car wasn’t in tip top shape, with multiple chips in the windshield and some rust spots. But besides that everything went well. I also found it weird that they needed to reserve the whole damage waiver amount on my card. I normally don’t have that much on my card and needed to transfer money around. I know that this probably is stated in the terms somewhere but I have never experienced it from other car rental companies. I would give Northbound a good rating, but the service and car from Icerental 4x4 wasn’t the best

Everything with Icerental 4x4 went great but I highly suggest you take pictures of the car before leaving the facility. One of our side mirrors had a crack that was not noted on the inspection form but because we had picture proof it was there when we picked it up, we were not held liable. The Suzuki Grand Vitara was perfect for driving all over Iceland in March!

Icerental 4x4 is a very small rental agenency. It takes a little bit of time to get to their place but they will pick you up at the airport and bring you back. The office is 24/7 open but if you will come in the middle of the night, like we are, you have to wait till somebody will be there. However, the car was okay and the price also. If you only purchase the basic insurance, they will block 2500€ on your credit card. You can avoid the blocking if you purchase a premium insurace wich will cost 13€ more per day.

Everything went according to plan :pick-up on arrival, coffee when doing the paperwork. The Suzuki Grand Vitara 2011 had some scratches and dents but turned out to be a reliable car, with excellent tires.On return we were transfered to the airport at the time we agreed upon. We had a very good experience, good customer service, easy to find shuttle from airport to the car rental. We were happy with the car, it was in good condition, no problem during our 10 day journey. Thanks again.

Excellent customer service and the process of renting the car was very straightforward. We landed at Keflavik where we've been picked up by an agent. Everything went very quick and in no time we were on our way. We didn't get the car that we originally booked but we got something very similar which was as good. Car was clean. Will definitely use them again. :)

A correct and reliable rental company. The company is located approximately 5 km from the airport. They arrange a shuttle service.

Hello, i liked the car very much. The shuttledriver who picked us, and brought us to the airplane was very friendly.

Bonne expérience générale. Bon contact avec les personnels. La voiture était correcte bien qu’un un peu vieille. Nous avons eu un problème avec la ligne d’échappement A cause des routes cabossées mais la situation a bien été gérée même si ce b’etait Pas compris dans l’assurance Platinum...

Après une petite péripétie de fonctionnement sur le 1er véhicule, réactivité pour nous déposer un 2nd véhicule malgré l'heure tardive. Très satisfait de votre agence, merci pour nous avoir permis de visiter ce beau pays.

The pick up process from the airport was very simple although with only one person manning the desk at the rental centre it took a short while to collect the car, although not excessively slow. However, he was friendly and efficient when it came to it. My only comment would be that some fairly explicit music videos were being played on the wall of the rental office which I wasn't too keen on my 3 year old watching! The car itself was in good condition and was ideal for the often challenging weather and roads in Iceland. The drop off process we were particularly impressed with. As the guy was checking the car over he noticed that our children were asleep in the back so he offered to drive the car to the airport rather than us get into the shuttle bus, allowing them to sleep for an extra 20mins or so. Excellent customer service. All in all, change the channel on the TV but otherwise a very smooth rental process with no issues at all. Thanks

A really reasonable price for a superb car, I always felt comfortable driving this car!! Even in a snow storm when I picked it up, the car felt secure and stuck to the road. The company were a pleasure to deal with, picked us up from the airport and dropped us back off at the end of the rental, we were at the airport within 5 minutes of arriving at the office with the car, at 5.00 in the morning, very slick service, will certainly use again next time we travel to Iceland
