Lava Car Rental in Iceland

Absolutely fantastic experience. Met at the airport even though the plane was early by 30 mins. Transfer took 5 mins & we were given a new van which was stocked with very warm sleeping bags (down to minus 15 degrees) super comfy pillows & ingenious bed/seating combo. The heater in the van was a life saver as it was cold, wet & very stormy on a couple of days we were there. The van coped beautifully with the gravel roads.

Lava Auto Car Rental and their services was just amazing. Very fast ,super friendly staff and all my expences much better than I've expected. Return was so symple ,I just left the car in the airport carpark with the keys inside and went for my flight ..hope I'll get back one day..easy going company. Highly recomended!! Jan&Dominika

Lava Car Rental was great! Truly. Major travel oops happened when I thought our group was arriving in Iceland in the PM when actually it was early in the morning, VERY early. Despite me having a completely different pick up time, they came to the airport to pick us up right when they opened and got us the car for us to begin exploring right away. The car was great; got a manual diesel (highly recommend) and drove fantastic since many roads are a bit rough with pot holes and gravel, etc. Both people that assisted in the pick up and drop off at the airport were very friendly and seemed interested in our plans and experiencing. A+

Rental was smooth and convenient. The shuttle was about 20 minutes late upon our arrival, so we had to wait in the terminal for a while before our shuttle driver showed up, but everyone on the auto rental team was friendly and answered all of our questions. The car was clean, drove well, and kept us on the move for 10 days straight.

Everything went smoothly from pick up to drop off

The car was in superb condition, easy to drive in, and gentle on the gas tank. Pickup and drop off was a breeze compared to other major brands in the airport, no long queue, no hassle. We had some flight timing issue last minute and they promptly accommodated the booking to our timing, excellent service there!

Everything went very well when renting with Lava Auto. Any questions I had were answered, there was a very simple pick-up and drop-off procedure, the car (2016 Rav4) worked perfectly, the gps and wifi worked as good as could be expected for the location of our road-trip. I honestly don't have a single complaint about the whole process.

Hello, We had a great time and the campervan was pretty good. Only problems: the insulation of the vehicle (but the heating was powerful enough to heat well anyway). So we had to get a bottle of gas but it was almost empty. We stayed for 7 nights and for one of them the cabin heater did not work. A priori, the battery had not relented yet we had rolled 3h. Unfortunately our English was so bad that to phone the agency it was complicated so we communicated by email, which was more complicated to solve the problem. In short, we never understood but after that night in the cold, for the last night the heating has to re-operate. So cool :) Otherwise for the highlights it is very pleasant vehicle to do many km, the layout of the aft cabin is well despite the limited space available. We were comfortable. The ice cream was not available but the agency gave us a free WIFI box for the whole week in exchange so it was very good. In the end the temperatures were better to have lewifi than the cooler :). In addition there are many connections in the vehicle which allows to reload our devices easily (by rolling but also when we were at the stop). On the other hand, when the vehicle was returned to the agency, we were surprised that no verification of the van was made. We were just asked for the keys, and we headed straight to the airport, without signing anything, without taking stock. We were too bad in English to ask for more details but it is true that we were surprised by this !

I could not have imagined a greater rental experience for myself. From pickup at the airport to the dropoff, they were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Not only was our vehicle fantastic, but we also received tips on where to go at night and where to eat. Friendly staff. Excellent service. Lava Auto Car Rental was great. They picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, which is just a couple minutes from their building. The car was really nice and perfect for Iceland roads and weather.

The service was great, especially the possibility to leave the car at the airport during the night since the office was closed when we came back home. We had a great experience with our rental car in Iceland. Our flight was delayed, so we had to call Lava to come get us, but they made the rental process very easy. The car was excellent - just what we needed for our tour of south Iceland. We were surprised about the studs on the tires, however we were very glad of them when driving through blizzards! The navigation (included with rental) was a lifesaver and the car was clean and new. I shopped around and Lava offered the best price on a 4WD car. Return couldn't have been easier - we just dropped the car off in the lot opposite the terminal. Thanks so much.

Booking our car hire from Reykjavik airport was very straightforward from the UK. When we arrived we were met by Lava Auto Car rentals at the airport, and taken the short journey to the Lava office to complete forms. It was a pleasure to deal with Lava staff. Everything as pleasant, and there was no pressure to buy things like extra insurance that we didn't need. We really enjoyed the car, a Dacia Duster. The price seemed very reasonable, and less than using one of the standard international companies. The return was straight forward - as we had an early start, we left the car in a parking site at the airport. I would for sure go through Northbound/Lava again.

The pickup went smooth, we felt a little bad because we were late arriving to the airport, but the employee picking us up was very nice and cordial. Collecting the car was a breeze, they were thorough but effective, ensuring we felt comfortable and knowledgeable. The car performed well, next time we might choose a little bit larger of a car (just a personal preference), but we had no issues. Returning the car was easy, with little to no hassle, and within 24-hours I received an email checking up, to ensure we had a good visit using their car.
