Nordic Car Rental in Iceland

The car was a cause for many laughs. We did not mind that it was a used car, but the fact that it had two sets of keys, one to open the door and one to turn it on, was, well, unexpected.

Our experience was very good. The car went well and was a good size for the 2 of us. One criticism is that we were warned that we should bring back the car with 90% fuel which is the level it was delivered to us at or we would be charged. We brought it back with 100% but there was no credit. Also, there was some damage inside the door when we collected the car but we were not shown this - and didn't think to ask. The doors were not opened when we were recording damage with your representative. However on our return the doors were opened and the fault identified. We were not charged. As far as we could see the door worked fine all week. The different levels of inspection before and after the hire seemed unfair.

Airport pickup was within 30 minutes of arrival, the staff in the office were friendly, the car unfortunately was not what I’d ordered, it was still a 4x4 but I’d asked for an automatic vehicle due to the anticipated amount of driving we’d planned on our trip. The drop off back to the airport was almost immediate, which was great, other than the cars functionality I’d use the company again.

We are very happy to rent Suzuki Vitara from Nordic Car rental. Service is very good. One employee from Nordic picked up us from airport on time. This rental car includes all necessary insurance. The windshield was hit by a couple small stones and had a chip on the it when we drove to Vik. This is insured by Gravel protection insurance which is included in the rental fee. The car is very good. We drove around 2000KM without problem. Will recommend this company to friends.

We had a great week in the Jimny; it was perfect for two with big suitcases. We did a lot of driving and the jimny was best of both worlds fuel efficient and 4x4 available when needed.

Pick-up and Drop-off was great, the same i can say about the staff. I rented a 2011 Suzuki Jimny for 6 days. I could not drive more than 80 kmh, i mean it was not safe because of the strong winds that wanted to blow me sideways, due the fact that is not a heavy car and not very aerodinamic. Left front light was sometimes on sometimes off and i had rear lights, but no brake lights,which i bought from my money,but it didn't work anyway. And no antenna, so no radio. But for the money i pay for the car, was worth it.

Nordic Car Rental Angestellte waren freundlich und hilfsbereit. (+) Abholung am Flughafen dauerte zu lange. (-) Der Suzuki Jimny ist an sich ein gutes Auto aber meiner meinung nach nicht sehr geeignet für die Wetterverhältnisse in Island. bei starken Windböhen muss man extrem darauf achten das der kleine SUV auf der richtigen Spur bleibt.

Could not fault the service from Nordic, from being picked up to dropped of at the Airport, the free in car WiFi was appreciated, would be happy to use again

Good experience. Car drove well and was clean. They helped me with some logistics by adjusting my drip off time and location at no extra cost.

Overall a very good experience. Only issue I experienced was that I was unable to contact the company through its listed phone number as i waited for pickup from the airport (I had an EE number from London not sure what was wrong, another fellow traveller also had the same issue). However, they were very quick in replying by email. I got an upgrade at no charge as my booked car was not available at the time which was great. Staff was friendly and courteous. Will book again through this company.

The staff were really helpful and keen to make sure we were okay. Wish we had got a higher end car and something newer but realise the option we chose kept the price down.

Great experience renting the car and it was a very easy and simple process. Best prices all around for the car and insurance package.

When we first picked up the car it has a few dents and scratches which we were told to note down on a sheet that the company would use to compare at the end. Before we left the car rental site we noticed that a few of the warning lights were lit on the dashboard which I immediately reported and the Nordic Car Rental rep said this was a common 'sensor' problem on this type of car and wasn't actually an issue. The car drove smoothly the entire trip (4 days) and handled the unusually snowy and icy roads very well. Seat warmers were a treat. During our last hour of driving the 'change engine oil' light came on but we managed to get the car back safely to the rental site with no issues. Yet to see if we will be charged anything.

Prompt pick up and drop, excellent service, Friendly and very informative staff We had taken all the insurances and had no issues with the car, the car features matched exactly what we had booked. GPS isn't handy , better to use the google offline maps

Overall great. I was disappointed at the end about the fact that I had to pay 2,000 isk to return to the airport. would think twice before repeating again in the future.

Everything was excellent thanks. Really helpful and friendly staff made everything really easy. Only slight confusion was the multiple brand names (Northbound vs Nordic vs City cars etc). When you are looking for the rep at the airport, a single brand name would make things easier.

My first trip to Iceland, and my wife’s third. We googled car rentals, and saw this one. The price was certainly a big factor, but found out the experience was way more that just dollars saved. Right from the start, we were picked up at the airport on schedule. A 5 minute ride to rental building, filled out the paper work in 10 minutes, we we were on our way. Extremely friendly staff, very informative, with answers to our questions. Easy return is just off the highway, returned car, and we were taken back to airport. We were first attracted by the price, but service is outstanding. This is the place to rent a car in Iceland!

I came across Nordic Car Rental while researching different options for renting a 4x4 SUV for 10 days in October 2018. My wife and I were planning to drive Ring Road and wanted four wheel drive just to be safe. I researched every single rental car booking site I could find, probably at least 15-20 different sites or apps. Nordic had BY FAR the best prices. I booked a 4x4 Suzuki Vitara with snow tires and included all available insurance, for $200 less than the cheapest 4x4 SUV (without snow tires or insurance) that I could find. I would absolutely 100% recommend Nordic Car Rental again to anyone and everyone I give suggestions to when traveling to Iceland.

Overall experience with the car was great, however, we had issue with bluetooth connection with any phones we have. So we could not enjoy the music we brought... Also some warning light came up time to time, although it did not affect drivability.
