Reviews for Nordic Car Rental
Personnel of this company are professional, but the 4x4 was not in good condition and it is not the car we have rent.
The team at Nordic Car Rental was great - willing to even adjust our pickup time when our plans changed that morning. And returning the van was just as smooth. One suggestion - make sure your larger vehicles have a heater vent in the back! Whoever sat in the third row seat was always cold (yes, it was cold and rainy most of our rental period).
We were with 6 people and we had a very good experience with the Ford Tourneo from Nordic Car Rental. Spacious and comfortable. It took us everywhere on our two week tour through Iceland. Pick-up and check-in in Keflavik was good and very friendly. Drop-off in Reykjavik very quick and easy.

The guys we met at Nordic late at night were very friendly and most helpful.
The car's windscreen wipers however were damaged to the point of being dangerous as 10 miles down the road when it rained I could hardly see where I was going at 12.30 at night. When I reported the problem at the drop off I was told that it was my job to fix it and claim for a new set of wipers when I dropped it off. I feel that it would be better if this was checked before a customer finds out too late!
The car also had no rear wiper at all.
Everything was in good condition. After 2 Days the Jimny an I became friends :)
The car was pretty good, with no problem at all, maybe in four it is a little bit small. In the description, this vehicle should have cruise contro, but i cannot be able to find it...
It was great! My favorite thing about it, besides the way it handled on the road, was the bright blue color - it stood out so well against the beautiful scenery. The check-in and check-put process was efficient and smooth. It took us a few extra minutes to find the shuttle driver at the airport, but after we found him the whole process was quick and efficient.
Very good service. The car had many scratches but technical OK.
Very good experience.
The car was very good. We enjoy it a lot. It has a lot of room for the luggage and it is a very comfortable 4x4 car
It was actually a Hyundai... but it was easy... good visibility.... no problems at all. Of course the GPS was totally worth it
Very good. Car was in good shape. Oil light was flashing during rental, as was 'key fob battery low'. Both were of minor concern. Waited 20 min for return shuttle to airport from Nordic facility, which was a bit nerve wracking. I wanted to get a bigger car with 4x4, and going with a somewhat older vehicle (100km on the odometer) allowed me to do that.
Nordic Car Rental on the whole has been pretty good for us in our recent trip to Iceland. We were picked up where they mentioned us prior with a little delay. The delay is understandable because the driver is driving back and forth to the Airport/Car Rental place.
The thing which was little annoying was the wait at the Car Rental office itself. We came out the airport at 9:15 and the by the time we were handed over the car it was 11:30 AM. We were asked to wait after taking a ticket in the office and nobody called us until an hour. At that point when couple of other customer inquired they mentioned they did not realize that we were waiting for car pickup! I think that was unacceptable part.
Because of the above reasons I rate 4. But I think I would recommend them to anyone because it is mostly, probably an misunderstanding on the counter personnel part. The drop off was smooth and quick.
Excellent value for money, the Landcruiser was great on every road in Iceland. Quick response by e-mail, good service at the offices in Reykjavik and Keflavík.

Car was very used but in decent conditions, fit for the trip at the best price we could find.
Everything smoth and easy with friendly customer service! Suzuki Vitara was a good choice.
The car was clean and ran well. No problems.
We got a Hyundai i10, which was similar to the Kia Picanto. It was in a correct condition and there was a professional method to indicate the dents and scraches. The pick-up at location was also correct and on time.
In general the car we got was good, we didnt had any flat tiers or unnecesary stops.
However there where several things which dissapointed us, fisrt there was a problem with the fuel meter and we were afraid the car wont have enouth fuel even though we kept refuling it. Thats not a giant issue but no one told us about it in the rental company, we had to discover it by ourselfs. Second thing was our back door who just never remaind steel while we opend it which was dissapointing because we where planing on sitting in the back of the car which was impssoble.
renting from Nordiac Car Rental was an awful experience. First, there was no one there to pick us up like the paper said. We waited 45 minutes and the “emergency number” is not answered ever. Then, when we were finally picked up, the company took roughly 1.5 hours to get us a car and others had been waiting for much longer. Finally, they did not tell us the car was a diseal car, despite us not speaking the language, and when we filled the car at the suggested gas station listed, we filled it with normal gas (like we would in the United States) having no knowledge it was only diseal since we don’t speak icelandic. They then claimed the engine was ruined, however, the car was not working well before we filled it. Additionally, we tried to call 15 times in two days without a response. They are now claiming we owe them a fee of 900 dollars for the engine (which we did not ruin, and if the diseal contributed to the problem, they did not inform us) and for a towing fee which was unnecessary considering we were able to drive the car and thus it did not need to be towed...
Hi, we have had a horrible experience. We have booked Dacia Duster, but after our arrival the guy told us that Duster is broken and has only Suzuki Vitara. I want diesel because we have booked diesel car. Impossible - consumption 10L/100km was way more expensive than book a proper diesel car in reliable car rental. The car also had broken lights. Never again!
Average experience as we got a faulty tyre and the tyre was punctured. Luckily, we were not stranded but I want to ask why isn't a spare tyre provided.
Why is the breakdown service provided not willing to handle flat tyre situation? They asked us to get it repaired, in ideal case there should have been a spare tyre or atleast a breakdown vehicle for our rescue.
Our experience was ok with this rental company. Communications with the company prior to arrival were good. They were clear about what we needed to do, fast to respond and it was easy to adjust our booking by email. We did not have a great experience getting our car at the beginning of the trip. Pick up took a long time and was quite hectic as there were a lot of customers waiting on the shuttle bus from the airport. We arrived and picked up our baggage just before 9am and did not actually leave the rental place until close to noon, which was quite frustrating. We would have appreciated more communication, politeness and organization while trying to pick up our car. The car itself was pretty good and we did not run into any issues while using it during our 12 day rental. We dropped off the car very early in the morning (around 3:30am). It was a fast drop off and we got a quick ride to the airport with lots of time to spare before our flight...
First time in my life I had such a terrible experience with car rent. After airport pickup some weird things started. We were driven to unknown company to take a Land Cruiser from them. Unfortunately or maybe not, the only option was to take uncleaned car, but with different conditions (not the same we had in our confirmation from Nordic Car Rental). The price was bigger about 300 Eur and other things I didn't check. We rejected their generous offer and went to Nordic Car rental office to look for the truth. In the office they had another generous offer for us: "we can return your deposit, because we don't have a Land Cruiser that you booked".
Long story short: after some negotiations, we took Dacia Duster for couple of days, until they have Land Cruiser. It ruined our plan , but luckily after two days, we got our car and it was the newer model.
All in all, beauty of Iceland compensates everything!
Sadly your company failed. First they did not have my car then the agent wanted to give me a 11 year old beat up vehicle in exchange for what I reserved and lastly my deposits had not been returned. I ended up waisting 3 hours of my time and my wife was not very happy also she was tired and just wanted to get to our hotel.
Moderate, as my reservation change was not somehow in Nordic Car Rental visible and I did not get the car I ordered 1st day. Also was agreed that in Monday they will deliver the car I wanted to our apartment but when they did not arrived as was agreed I called and they said the car is waiting in their office at Reykjavik and they have only one lady there who does not have the driver license. I got the car 2 hours later than I was expecting and it was not Qashqai but Xtrail
I was generally pleased with the rental and the Dacia Duster. However there are two Issues:
- If you cannot be at the airport for pickup in time, please inform your customers by phone, SMS, whatever. It is no fun standing at the Meeting point not knowing if and when somebody comes to pick you up. I had to wait approximatly 90 minutes.
- I took over the car with the tank 30 % full. When I returned it, the tank was about 75 % full which cost me about 30-40 extra Euros, just because the tank indicator did not show the filling timely. This could not happen, if the tank was full when the customer takes it over (as stated in the rental agreement).
The car had a whopping 150.000 km and left the battery depleted in the first stop, while driving up to the north. In an attempt to call for road assistance, the customer service accused us for making a bad use of the car and threatened us to pay for the expenses rather than helping us find a solution.
