Nordic Car Rental in Iceland

The service was good and the booking process went smoothly. The car did not function well. There was a problem (maybe with the wheel bearing) that made a terrible noise for most of our trip. Also, the interior lights of the car didn't work and one of the chargers didn't work either.

The car was pretty beaten up, the engine light was on the entire time, the Bluetooth didn't work for music so no music for an entire week of driving. Staff were friendly enough (for Iceland) but the check-in took FOREVER, over two hours from pick up at the airport to us driving. Price-wise, it was good (for Iceland).

renting from Nordiac Car Rental was an awful experience. First, there was no one there to pick us up like the paper said. We waited 45 minutes and the “emergency number” is not answered ever. Then, when we were finally picked up, the company took roughly 1.5 hours to get us a car and others had been waiting for much longer. Finally, they did not tell us the car was a diseal car, despite us not speaking the language, and when we filled the car at the suggested gas station listed, we filled it with normal gas (like we would in the United States) having no knowledge it was only diseal since we don’t speak icelandic. They then claimed the engine was ruined, however, the car was not working well before we filled it. Additionally, we tried to call 15 times in two days without a response. They are now claiming we owe them a fee of 900 dollars for the engine (which we did not ruin, and if the diseal contributed to the problem, they did not inform us) and for a towing fee which was unnecessary considering we were able to drive the car and thus it did not need to be towed. They entire place was choatic and many other customers were either not given their correct cars or were complaining of engine lights on in the car.

The car was great, pricing was better than most, and insurance was included. Great. These are cars that are used hard in harsh environments by people who may not know how to drive properly in these conditions, so it wasn't surprising that they were not in immaculate condition. It got us everywhere we wanted to go, so a job well done. Great company and good customer service.

In general the car we got was good, we didnt had any flat tiers or unnecesary stops. However there where several things which dissapointed us, fisrt there was a problem with the fuel meter and we were afraid the car wont have enouth fuel even though we kept refuling it. Thats not a giant issue but no one told us about it in the rental company, we had to discover it by ourselfs. Second thing was our back door who just never remaind steel while we opend it which was dissapointing because we where planing on sitting in the back of the car which was impssoble.

I was able to compare rentals easily. After booking I receive immediatelly confirmation with detail information about pickup and rental company contact details. Rental company was Nordic Car Rental and everything was Ok.

We rented a standard Hyundai i20. The price included SCDW, CDW, Gravel and Sand. The car got us around the entire island without issues. The check-out/check-in were easy and we had no problems whatsoever. We also were shuttled from and to the airport. The service and company went above and beyond and highly recommend Nordic Car Rental. When we return to Iceland we will once again be using Nordic as our primary choice for transportation.

Everything was easy with the car rental. There wasn’t anyone waiting with our name in arrival but after a quick call we were picked up in 10 minutes. Car was reliable and drop off simple. Thanks!
